If you do buy this, just know, it's not 100% Plug and Play, but is pretty close. You will need to go through some of the systems, like PS2, and set the controlls.

That's crazy that the controller is a Gamesir which is a pretty good brand, the hard drive is a Seagate which is an excellent brand, the software is actually well-configured, but they couldn't find thirty cents in the budget for a cheap plastic box to enclose the hard drive. That's, like, the exact opposite of where every other company chooses to cheap out versus spend a little money.
Edit: Also, damn, they're selling this thing on AMAZON with a preloaded and preconfigured Snitch emulator? Even with virtually no games, that is incredibly ballsy. Nontendu is on the warpath chasing that golden Snitch right about now.
Ngl, when you put it like that, I can forgive the lack of HDD enclosure since on tech devices you (collective) tend to prefer quality to aesthetics o.o
Seeing an Android box playing PS2 and GameCube is pretty impressive. If you like to tinker you can get a one of these boards (Orange Pi) with the same specs from $100 - $150 that can run Batocera.
Where could one find a copy of that hard drive ?

Good thing I found out how to download games on here now, because that was my only gripe. I was also seeing scan lines appear on the much older 2d games and once I figured out what shaders to use to make the graphics better, everything looked smooth. This really is a beast of a retro console.

Please dont forget to show off Saturn games too. We already know that a lot of these systems run Atari to Ps1 games well, but when it comes to Saturn emulation, thats when it gets a bit iffy. Shinobi X, Panzer and Die hard arcade are great games to test and showcase. Thank you for these videos
Panzer Dragoon 2 was shown, as TD was saying the resolution can be upscaled. It would have been cool to see more Saturn games though, and none of my current systems are capable of upscaling.

I love how affordable mini PCs and stuff are getting. I haven't gamed on PC for like 15-20 years because of how expensive it became. But these days I'm considering a mini thing.
I’m glad there’s easy/preconfigured Android and Linux PC alternatives to Windows now! We get instant sleep/resume, our choice when to run updates, better power efficiency, etc etc. Let’s just say I don’t like the Windows aesthetic 😂 This product is super cool though!

I LOVE PS2, DREAMCAST, N64, PS1, SATURN, and WII. I hope the sd card can take some games that way cuz I'd really like to expand on some of the libraries that are smaller.
You did a great review video here! I’m with you on the takeaway… it’s a roller coaster for sure. lol. But 80% of the games in the library I wanted to play on the PS2, GameCube, and Wii work just fine. The controllers work (specifically in android mode) and the android box remote helps out tremendously when I need to exit out of the dolphin emulated games. The only downside is I don’t know how to add games to the hard drive. Other than that… it’s pretty much a must buy for anyone that wants a plug and play.

Boy, that RK3588s is a beast ain't it. Rockchip did VERY good with that one. Though this is an android box, I think we can start to see some mid to high-end emulation devices with Linux using this SoC. Well, at least I'm ready for it. But I'm fine with Android too, I don't really mind the OS as long as it's preset for turning on and gaming

This looks like a really cool android system with stellar performance and UI, but I think Imma stick to my current retro setup. For at home, I use a homebrewed Wii for all the old nintendo stuff, a CFW "Nintendo Snitch" for PSX, PSP, and NDS. For heaver stuff, I use my Windows/Linux gaming laptop, or M1 Mac. For on the go, I'll usually play the lower end stuff on my CFW "Nintendo Snitch" or my CFW 3DS. Love your videos tech dweeb.
They should have this thing fit into a motherboard PCIe slot. The hard drive can mount inside a PC case and the I/O can go out the back. Just use the slot for power. Awesome sleeper potential.

Cool idea for those that want an out-of-the-box experience. For the money I would for go the 4tb drive and buy a mini pc to do my own, but that's just me. I get why people would want this vs the DIY approach, though.
Not being out of the box is what stops most people from PC gaming

@@kylespevak6781 Thats a weirdly false claim when there are over 28milion people playing PC games right this second on steam (not including the people playing GOG games, Epic, Xbox game pass on PC, emulation, and so on). I would be willing to bet there are just as many people that play games on PC as any of the current consoles (outside of Nintendo since that is its own beast)
Yeah, frankly I think Windows requires too much maintenance and doesn’t respect the user’s time or urgency… it’s like the soul of Clippy is the user experience designer.
I got a Steam Deck, which is counted among gaming PC’s even though it doesn’t run windows, and I love it. But I’m also tempted by this Android box.

I just ordered this off of Amazon and I paid for the extra expedited shipping so I can get it for my birthday I had $170 credit so this is where it went. Just for the fact that it has so many PS2 games in GameCube games is worth the money if you try to add up how much each game costs. Plus it has SsX tricky😊

Do all the games play as intended with the controller(s)? In other words, do you map it once and you can play all games as they were designed? Will all the games play as if you were playing them on the original console, as the game was designed?
Out of all the android boxes this is the best.
What mini PC would you recommend that parallels this in what systems it can play and similar performance? Since I have an SSD and controller, and hate this form factor like yourself lol

Can you clone the drive and run it of a usb hdd? If so that would look so much better.
Can you add games? I know it looks like there are some complete sets but for example in case that a PS2 game you want to play is missing etc.
I had a pretty nice Launchbox setup that had just about every game I wanted on it, but my PC isn’t good anymore and the hard drive it was on doesn’t work well anymore either. This might just be the thing to buy to replace that, as I can’t see myself going through the process of setting it back up again.
So a few questions. Does this thing work with OTHER controllers, and if so how hard are they to configure (thinking mainly for something like an off brand N64 controller for example)
Can you check a few MAME games out for me and tell me if they’re on there/perform? Namely Killer Instinct 2 and Carnevil (speaking of which, is it setup so that a controller can function as a light gun?). That would heavily influence my decision personally.
Did any systems need controller setup or was everything good to go right out of the box?
How hard is it to add/remove things, change emulators if we want to etc?
Lastly, is it in any way possible to add/change videos for the systems? Like I had some AMAZING videos for most of the main systems on these things that I used for Launchbox (check out the old Hyperpie video snaps and you’ll see what I mean).
Final question off hand being could I hook this up to my TV and play on there? I assume so since it’s an actual box and the hard drive is separate but I just wanted to make sure.

Damn, what a great little box!! Works far better than I anticipated. The price is a lil steep, but not for the amount of value packaged in! This thing is bang for your buck to the max. Love it. I’ll stick with my original hardware for now, but when they inevitably fail in 20-30 years it’s nice to know we’ve got such a good grasp on emulation already.
Hay TD I got the Retro spin you reviewed I wondered if you could do a video talking about how to fix or add your own stuff (that you own obviously) to it and have it work I can't find much online and alot of the Forums/Reddits all assume you have a certain level of understanding.
Do you know if they ship with region specific power cables? This is exactly what I've been looking for - its a shame the aesthetics haven't been given any attention, but I'm prepared to overlook that for the complete games library and out of the box playability. Just trying to find out if it will work with a UK power cable...

You should try loading driver on pS2, it doesn’t work and need for speed most wanted crashes. Mine didn’t come with a controller so I’ll be getting onto them about that. Setting up a controller of my own has been a nightmare

Just received mine.... snes I could feel was off playing side scrolling games tried different emulators then found the problem. It was the tv. Make sure you set you tv to game mode and you will be set.

Had mine for like 3 weeks been having a blast just dont know how to get two of the gamesir controllers to work. Whenever I go into the emulator settings and try to set the second controller as player 2 it does it but literally whatever player 1 presses the same thing is mirrored for player 2. Can anyone please help lol. Been trying to play the simpsons with my gf.

It's great for multiplayer stuff. You can connect up bluetooth controllers and you're good (Might need to do some configuring to make sure each controller is set properly). You CAN use wiimotes with it! czcams.com/video/6ANM9JeEUyA/video.html

I would love that made the one that looks like a NES more powerful to play GC and PS2 (analogue output would be nice) and that they would make it so that you could use different firmware, like batocera

It's in the controller settings, under the touchpad heading. Set that to disabled.
