If you are using a very budget board i would suggest supporting the socket with your finger while inserting the switch since it seems like some sockets are a bit loose, this "technique" was in the building guide of the Nk65 EE, im not sure if they updated it but if you are really worried about popping off a socket this could be useful
Absolutely, if you have the PCB out and can install the switches while supporting the back of each socket, that would be ideal. I'm hoping to help those that may be swapping switches in an already built kit to prevent from popping those sockets off.
@@MechKeyboards also i appreciate those guides you are doing, do you mind if i add the link of your video to a list i made with links for people that are new in to the hobby ? It has a lot of videos explaining specific topics and i think this video could save some pcb's

Do the hot swap sockets on your PCB round or round with what looks like a clip inside of it? Outemu hot swap sockets or Mill Maxx are round sockets that only work with a handful of switches from Outemu, Ajazz, Akko. If your PCB looks like this (preview.redd.it/hn9mzofb5lw21.jpg?auto=webp&s=ee21acdd7353192a1025ce15cdda1256eb3b09a7) then they are Outemu.

thank youuu
Does it matter if you switch the keyboard switches places from where they originally were?
No, it does not.
Is it possible the switches I keep trying to use don’t fit my keyboard specifically?
If the PCB uses Outemu Hot swap sockets in the switches you're trying to use have thicker legs then yes there would be a compatibility issue
I broke one of the pins of my switch. Am I screwed? I tried to fit a Cherry MX into an Outemu socket.
I mean the switch is toast, but the PCB should still be okay.
What if my switches have more than pins?
I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean? What else does the switch have?
I want to use one as a killswitch on a guitar i think it should work but im not sure of it...
Well, it is a momentary switch, so you could follow any guide that uses a two pin momentary switch, but it should work fine.

You'll have to get some needle nose pliers, find purchase on the switch, and rock them back and forth gently until they release.

What to do when I doesn't click?
Ensure there is nothing preventing the switch from being seated correctly, like not fully closed, too many pins for PCB, etc.
I figured out the problem. I was just applying force to the top so the switch did not snap in.
