I love how Peeta literally just gained consciousness and he was already comforting Katniss even though he was the one that needed comforting. It's like his natural instinct is to protect Katniss, it seems to come so naturally to him like breathing, it's just something he needs to do.

I always thought Finnick did that because he knew how much Katness loved Peeta and knew that to loose Peeta would be to loose Katness. And of the two of them, Katness was more deadly than Peeta.
(I'm Late af but) I mean also we know he's in on the plan to get Katniss out so I took that look on his face as realizing that she really loved him and how that could have been him and Annie and that's why he looks distressed because his job is to get Katniss out not peeta and he knows that even if he tries there is no guarantee that he will get peeta out. And when he doesn't at the end you can hear him arguing with H about telling her the truth! He also looks upset because he wanted to save all of them. Then again at the begining of mockingjay he's crying because he wanted to save peeta and joanna and knows how Katniss feels since they took annie. So that little speech about wishing they were all dead is so heartbreaking because he lost all hope.

I don't mean to get so deep but I don't think people realize how important this scene really was!!!!! If anyone has watched the movie or even read the book, u would know how President Snow visited Katniss and told her to convince him that she loved Peeta, to show him and the other districts that she had no intention of creating a rebellion, to show that she just took out those nightlock berries as a sign of a deep love. The moment where Peeta came back to life and Katniss hugged him, still crying hysterically, it showed President Snow that she did in fact love him, and she convinced him. This moment was when President Snow realized that he could use Peeta as a weapon and take him away, and make Katniss fall apart. When his grand daughter says, "I hope to love someone that much some day", it also kinda showed how not only did it convince President Snow, it convinced his little grand daughter and maybe have even convinced the other districts watching.

Small moment, but when Katniss rushes to Peeta’s side in a panicked state, Finnick throws her back, and she instinctively prepares to shoot him with an arrow until she realizes he’s trying to do CPR, and she’s like, “Oh, right.”
In the book she turned to look and she saw Finnick “kissing” Peeta, and was like ?!?!?!? And then she was like oh yeah I’ve heard of this life saving thing before.

The book discusses this best: Katniss was very suspicious of Finnick throughout the book because she was sure he would kill them when he had the chance. He says she was about to kill Finnick when he covered Peeta's nose thinking he was trying to drown him, until she saw him doing CPR.
She was gonna shoot him because he covered his nostrils. I mean- I would at least shoot him in the shoulder which is less likely of death if this happened to throw him off since I don't ever want to kill anybody.
I'm love this scene! Not because Peeta gets hurt but because he plays it off like a joke to clam Katniss down. I think thats the sweetest thing ever.

Jen's acting here is so authentic, especially when she says "You wanna stand up?" still in tremblind voice. I feel like being Katniss' in the hands of another actor, she would have sounded less trembling and more recovered, but Jen kept putting Katniss in that vulnerable moment of fear. Fear of losing Peeta. So much fear that she kept trembling even while hugging him afterwards

This is the moment Katniss realizes how much she actually loves him. Once he hit the forcefield it killed her because it was her dying wish to keep HIM alive. She knew she couldn't live without him. The way she panicks when he falls and the joy in her face when he is revived. This is definatly in my top 10 favorite scenes.
Actually, KATNISS doesn't realize it. Everyone else does, but she doesn't lol. She's obsessed with saving his life, but completely oblivious as to why. That's the reason she keeps kissing Gale in Mockingjay. And why she says to Finnick: "Everyone seems to know my secrets before I do"

Very late response, but what's happening in Katniss's head, starting from when they team up in the arena:
"I'm still suspicious of Finnick Odair, but Haymitch clearly wants us to be allies. If worst comes to worst I can kill him in his sleep."
--> Peeta hits force field and Finnick revives Peeta.
"GREAT. Now how am I supposed to kill Finnick? I can't stop owing him this, and I hate owing people. I'm supposed to be grateful, and I am, but there's only gonna be one victor and it needs to be Peeta."
--> spends time together, toxic fog comes out, Finnick helps Peeta to get out.
"I am so grateful that he's here now. Grateful that he is helping us through this. I could not have carried Peeta by myself, and how could we survive then?"
--> spends more time
"I decided that Finnick is not that bad. At least not as vain as I once thought."
She doesn't say thank you because she's still conflicted about Finnick at this point. And she's set on helping Peeta win, which inevitably means the death of the other tributes. She doesn't want to invest in knowing others since they're all gonna have to die in the end. She doesn't know about the rebelion plan yet too.

Everyone is talking about how Peeta is calming Katniss down immediately when he should be being comforted. And i agree I just have more to add. Katniss had to completely watch him die whereas he just went unconscious. And you can tell she was trying to keep it together for him but she couldn't do it. She was in too much shock and full of fear. But it is very much a Peeta thing to only worry about Katniss

One thing I loved about this scene in the book is how confused Katniss was seeing Finnick performing CPR on Peeta. At first she thinks he's kissing him, but then realizes what he's doing. Just an interesting little thing considering Katniss probably had no clue what CPR even was.

i would say any of their kisses leading up to this weren't real - but this one? this one was.
i absolutely love the sheer attention to detail in this scene. as a former lifeguard i was taught to only do 15 chest compressions at a time instead of 30 when doing CPR on non-adults and we can clearly see finnick do less than 30 compressions (if not EXACTLY 15) between the rescue breaths, it really drives home the point that katniss and peeta are STILL KIDS while going through all of this horrible trauma. also finnick’s voice getting more and more desperate as katniss’ voice does shows that he truly CARES about them and if the alliance is being made to keep katniss alive then you know damn well he’s gonna keep BOTH of these kids alive if it’s the last thing he does. (and it IS the last thing he does in mockingjay💔)

I feel like Katniss and finnick’s relationship should have been developed more. They were nearly great friends, but Katniss hardly ever showed gratitude when finnick saved them so many times. I guess that’s because she struggled with ‘making friends’, and didn’t fully trust him, but finnick didn’t have nearly enough screen time before he died :((

I remember reading this scene in the book. I was horrorstricken and my heart seemed to stop for a few seconds after Peeta was knocked cold from that forcefield.
And when he was revived, I had never felt more relief from reading a book than that.
