Great honest review. What I liked is you explained how you use the car and what motivated you to buy a Tesal. You went through the pros and cons associated with your use, which I think most of us have really appreciate.
Regarding windshield wipers...the nozzles on the arm can be adjusted with a safety pin...may have to play around with the your preference on where you want the water jet to go but its like a 5 second adjustment.
I've had mine for almost a year and I love my car!!!
That was a pretty honest review and I think that it was awesome. Great job bru. You guys do awesome stuff.
Three years and counting on my 3. Still extremely happy with it, the best car I’ve ever owned. I need to come back and see you for chrome delete and some paint correction. You did an outstanding job with the wrap, ceramic coating and tinting. The car still looks incredible, see you in 22!
Right on!
Love the non biased review ❤️🙌🏼
Since you don't use the brakes very much on a tesla it is important to lubricate the calipers to prevent sticking and corrosion which is especially important in our Chicago climate.
Been waiting for this video thank you - once they are back ordered for 3 years I’m in
Great information! I'm picking up my M3LR today! Waited 3 months....soooo excited the day is finally here!
The review was good, my son bought the same car wish I had recorded my first experience with the Model 3 Performance. I flew to Boston and helped him drive it to Texas with our big dog in the back and the superchargers were just right. By the time we let the dog out to use the restroom and we go to the restroom and get a snack, the car is ready to go. If the car wasn't ready, we would watch an episode of Squid Game and the car was finished charging before we finished the episode. The car is so comfortable that after cross country trip, my 59 year old self wasn't stiff or hurting, I really want one of those cars now. If you hate EVs don't drive this car, you will want one.
Thanks for the video!
Jason … you seem like a great guy. Best wishes with your two shops.
Thanks 👍
Im in Chicago so when I get mine Im bringing it to you for the PPF and tint. Love that black!.
Have a 2018 LR RWD M3 and I will say as far as a daily driver goes there’s nothing really better for the price.
Hi from France ! loved the video presentation, thanks !
Hello 👋
Be sure to get soundproof door rubber seals it will make a huge difference when driving so you can listen to your music without any wind noise
You can also just scroll up or down on either scroll wheel instead of jiggling steering wheel When it gives warning to make a steering motion. I use scroll wheel to avoid accidentally using too much force jiggling wheel and taking it out of auto steer.
The audio quality is so clear while recording on the freeway ... massive testament to how quiet the cabin !!
And the microphone I’m wearing! 😂
@@ChicagoAutoPros 😂 true ! But try recording with the same mic in a gas car without double glazing 😝
That’s the one thing we were surprised when we got ours, you can hear others talking in the car clearly. Normal volume conversations without having to talk over all that noise!
@@RyanCowan like every car above 30 grand is pretty quiet these days and the windows are only one entry point for noise. for objective testing you need to go elsewhere. it's pure physics, all the glass makes the cabin an echo chamber. and while the front window double glazing is a little improvement to before, it's just that, nothing major.
I like this guy give pro and cons and not complain why it does this why it doesn't do this. Understand the car before complaining all the negative from seeing with the eye but live with it and see it fine. I'm a subscriber now.
You can condition the battery with the heat pump before leaving this will help winter range . I'm sure you thought of ot but just in case .
thought i recognized the warehouses in the background around 2:22 , saw the map a couple seconds later I was correct, you were on the bridge on 355 right before I55.
I love it!
I just got my M3LR on December 2nd. Loving it so far. I do need to take it to the service center to get the tail lights aligned better but it was a very solid build and I absolutely love the car so far....I am sad that I still have the factory build software and haven't had any updates yet but I am anxiously awaiting my first update...like a kid on Christmas eve/morning...
It’s so fun getting new updates. So happy for you
Cool review ! ) Especially from paint protection guy! )
"itch that scratch". love that! good video man. I appreciate not hearing the same old tesla nonsense benefits that I always see from owners who were clearly not car enthusiasts before their EV. And from a guy who lives where there are four seasons of weather is great refreshing. That lack of sound and gear changes (coming from German luxury machines) is my only holdup with these things. I am not a tesla fanboy at all, and its personal preference but to me that front end look is quite terrible, but for a daily driver mule car it seems like a good fit. fed credit, when it passes, might just convince me to make the jump. thanks for the review.
Yeah I miss the sound of my old turbo but that’s about it. Power for price is amazing
Tilting screen, what a great feature!
@jason, thank you for the review. I have a few questions from your clip. What brand and model coil over did you installed? After installed gap? How do you like it? What brand/model did you you uses to install the center console swivel? Happy new year!
Dude, I had my model 3 sr+ for about 7 months and put 29k. I save over 950 a month. I love auto pilot as well. So much less stress.
I've had mine for coming up on three years. About the only major complaint I have is the car payment. These are expensive cars to own, albeit inexpensive to drive. The other main complaint I have is that they don't resume music playback from USB worth a darn, so I have to "start" my audio playback maybe four out of five times I get in the car if I don't want a silent drive. The cameras also are unreliable. It got a lot better through software updates, but the latest major software update broke them again. My cruise control, autopilot, and even camera views cut out all the time as a result.
Just as expensive as any other vehicle that costs the same. With a fraction of the ownership costs and better retained value.
I saw “the real AF” my man knows what’s up
I bought a brand new Toyota Tacoma in 2013. Zero issues. I don’t get why or how ppl put up with car issues from me coming from a car with zero issues
Awesome review especially from someone so also lives in the Chicago land area thinking about getting one a Tesla in a couple years or so but just doing my research. I was wondering how was your experience with snow and the traction of the model 3 from your experience?
Great review. I want to know more about the trunk space. Will have to go see a Model 3 in person. That's one requirement I need to be able to put in some gear back there, but otherwise finally coming around to seeing this as a viable option. I recently got an Uber drive in a model 3 and yest he seats and interior are very comfy. I'm spending anywhere from $200 to $500 in gas each month, as my work requirements change weekly, and saving $200-300 a year in oil changes alone seem well worth it.
I wish you had talked more about the cost to re-charge at home. I know you mentioned plugging at home and work, but what is the monthly cost in doing that? The specs I've read indicate about $15-20 per full charge and if you can go 300 miles or so, that means that my monthly costs would be around $80 and I could potentially save $320-$400 per month.
Get a power frunk kit installed, it will make it much more convenient and usable, using your phone to open and close the frunk.
Yeah, great...until it opens by itself on the highway. Happened before!
@@JohnSmith-oh9iv How did that happen? That shouldn't be possible for a good kit installed properly.
I've been considering getting one. I hadn't heard about them opening erroneously. The videos I've seen with them indicate they are inoperable while the car is in motion (the driver did attempt to open it while in motion).
Great review! I live in Chicago and will wait to get mine delivered after July 1st. There’s a $4000 EV credit. My only fear is owning a Tesla in the city. I am afraid it’s going to get scratched, dented etc.
Great video. What kind/size rims are those and brand of tire? When the refresh comes out for M3 I'm going to get the performance but I really don't want the ' 20 rims and low profile tires.
I hope you are not reading this comment as you are driving in your Tesla 😂. I love you and your shop and even had my car coated there a few months ago, but please reconsider emailing and texting while driving, the autopilot is not 100% safe, there are rare scenarios where it will totally fail. There are plenty of CZcams videos showing autopilot failures. I want you to be safe so I can get my future cars coated at the best shop in Chicagoland 😆.
Have you considered moving closer to your shop?
I'm about to order one and I'm really getting stuck on picking the exterior color. I live in a city where we get a decent amount of snow in the winter and lots of road salt because of that. I really like the black exterior color, but am wondering how you found it - Do you regret it? Is it hard to keep clean? I can't decide between a white or black exterior. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Isn't it the case now (or soon) that Tesla is allowing access to the car via the Tesla app to other people as well - car sharing, but in the most convenient way
So def not driving her everyday with that mileage then right?
The gigantic screen and relegating everything to touch controls makes me wonder why we blow up at people for using their phone on the road; this is…literally the same thing, it’s just a bigger screen. Thanks for the honesty!
"Scratch that itch" lol But amazing video all the same!!!
Should relocate to near your shop. Less time behind the wheel is a good thing regardless of which car driven, EV or non-EV
The tint should be darker, what do you think about that?
I appreciate this review as I'm in the market but electric-only still gives me the willies. 😁
It hasn’t been an issue, there are super chargers everywhere.
C French … what “gives me the willies” is paying €2 a litre (Portugal) and maybe three or four times that in future years
Test drive one.
Can I ask what wheels you bought for winter?
Still no issues with the White interior? I’m really on the fence about it. I’ve ordered a 3 performance with white seats and am debating on changing back to black. What’s your take on them? Thanks!!
Autopilot is truly a joy. I use it every trip. Its a better driver than I am.
I'm exactly in your same situation with commuting. I commute 92 miles to work both ways, which is 184 miles a day, four days a week. Looking to get the model 3 long range next year. Also for gas I'm spending about $500 a month just on gas with oil changes happening more often. Getting a tesla will definitely save $$$$$.
Or a hybrid could work.
@@ultragoldcoin8780 hybrid wouldn't work cause 99% of my drive is highway. Hybrids get the same mpg as ICE cars on the highway.
@@JW-fm2cy EV'S are more efficient at any speed but they lack the range. ICE peform better at highway speeds, better mileage but they more inefficient per mile. Regardless a corolla hybrid could get u 50-60 mpg highway and that in city. Only 23-25 k and save atleast 15k getting an ev. EV only make sense to me for short commutes. Corolla hybrid has last longer than traditional ice car, less maintenance and solid chassis.
@@ultragoldcoin8780 50-60 mpg highway would only save about $100 or so a month in gas. So with car payments and $400 or so monthly on gas I'd be spending the same amount I would for a Tesla payment with money going to gas. Model 3 long range has a range of 300 plus which is more than enough for my daily 184 mile Monday to Thursday commute.
@@JW-fm2cy your looking at it the wrong way. The puchase price also matters when it comes to saving. Model 3 lr is 50k comparing a 25k hybrid corolla that will save you way more money. If anything, a model 3 sr+ makes more sense for u.
So my question is, how the hell did you end up losing both key cards? So great review though! I bought my Tesla back in 2018 and I never look back! I also agree with you that the auto pilot will just keep getting better! I did buy the FSD package when it was 3K! Now it’s 10K! Not a bad deal wouldn’t you say?
Well it was actually our staff who lost them. I park the car inside to charge and they have to move it every once in a while so I leave my key card with them. Needless to say I don’t do that anymore.
You could get the key in ring form so it’s always on your finger. :-) If you need a backup.
The FSD in Canada went up to $12,800 CND. The $3k you paid was a great investment!
Getting a plaid s then?
All you have to do is almost hit 1 shredded tire at 70mph before you change your mind about texting etc
Tesla or any EVs are an excellent choice here California where gas prices are $6 per gallon plus zero maintenance
Just wondering what type of wheels are those? They look so good!! I want them xD from wisconsin here thanks!!
Titan 7!
Why did u go M3 over Y? Ride quality w bigger wheels thoughts?
YOU CANNOT TEXT WHILE DRIVING IN AUTOPILOT!!!
it important to note the system is not ready for that yet. WE are training the system. We need to be vigilant so that we one day can allow to drive entirely by itself.
Dont waste your energy, he doesnt give a fuck. should he get into an accident, we have the evidence right here.
That commute time sucks. Dude must live outside Cook County.
I f**king love mine6 months later!!
What leather protection and cleaner do you use? I have a '22 F250 King Ranch and need a good leather system
Have you experience phantom braking
my biggest annoyance is when you are in autopilot on the freeway, you cannot disable the auto wipers. auto wipers sucks. it too fast or too slow..you know! and the auto high beam too! at least you can turn it off but comes back on the next time auto pilot is engage...wonder how do we tells these things to Elon Musk/Telsa Engineers? is there a comment box anywhere ? thanks for the video!
do you think its nessecary to ppf your tesla? im getttong the 2022 model 3 performance. tahnks!
Where those wheels from
Awesome
My man sits on white seats with blue jeans. Brave!
Yes, I’m surprised that they aren’t stained either. I did coat them and no issues with blue Jean transfer.
Probably to interior detail while on auto pilot
What tint did you use for the windshield
HOW HAS IT BEEN A YEAR SINCE YOU BOUGHT THAT ALREADY
Good to know and amazing it has been a year!
Time flies!
Hello, Thanks for the very informative video. Are pirelli p zero pz4 elect tires safe in temperatures under 5°C or 41°F?
Pirelli is the brand Tesla sells for their winter tires. Although the Nokian Tyres have better reviews.
Great review.... here we go lol!!! Good thing you don't live in canada texting and driving is illegal and they would impound your car for 30 to 60 days with up to 10,000 in fines depends on cop and area but seams like they dont inforce to much any ways great vid
Any battery degradation???
I can dig it. I looked at electric options, but wasn't ready for an electric only car yet. Also, it may be the video but the car looks tiny with you in it. I'm 6'3", not sure how tall you are. But at the points where you are talking ab auto-pilot, you looked... Cramped?
I’m 6’ 0” and I still have plenty of room to move the seat back.
@@ChicagoAutoPros good to know, glad I asked instead of just assuming. Though that means Dr Beasley must be a giant after seeing the "graphine vs ceramic" video!
To add in with your comment I am 6’9” and have a model Y. They have a ton of room for taller people. Definitely will get more knee room with model Y
did tesla prices raise i just paid the same including taxes and delivery fee for the long range
Yes they have been know for raising and lowering prices as they see fit.
Don't take this the wrong way, but autopilot shouldn't be used to browse the internet. Just think if you crashed into a young family whilst your eyes are off the road. It wouldn't bare thinking about. Please consider that.
Great video by the way.
Great vid Jason. Thanks for all the insights about Tesla.
Quick question: has ur electric bill gone up considerable since u got it'
And also when u go to a Tesla rechargeable station to get it recharge. Do u have to pay?
LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER VID ABOUT THIS CAR.
My bill has gone up about $30 a month. I also do a lot of charging at work. Tesla supercharger is free for the first year and then year you do have to pay for charging. Superchargers will also have different rate’s.
Man, don’t play Russian roulette with your life or that of others for the sake of texting or emailing. Autopilot is not fool proof. If you really have to use your phone, get a dash mount for it, sync it with your screen and use Bluetooth voice. There are families on the roads, and I’m sure yours depends on you as well.
I say kudos to him for being so open about it. When he kills someone on the freeway while texting, there will be plenty of evidence to give him a 110 year sentence and Kim Kardashian will have a hard time getting him out of it.
I want he white interior but I’ve heard they can stain... I have two kids as well....
*cough*
As a woman I agree 100%.
It’s either dark seats or a darker tainted white seat for me.
To be brutally honest, periods (happen suddenly with me) are a bitch to get out.
What? It’s biologically unavoidable.
When I die, I WILL be having a deep discussion with God about that.
I have a Tesla as well with FSD/AP, and the highway AP is so well polished.. So I honestly understand how its so easy to trust it.. people will get butt hurt over it but I rather text on AP than not..
Its so damn good! No 🧢
What product did you coat the seats with?
Colourlock! czcams.com/video/RQiff0U6vrw/video.html
How about wind noise while on the highway. I heard lot of stories about wind noises
Perhaps it’s been fixed, but our 3 is extremely quiet. Doesn’t sound any different when you’re into 3 digit speeds
@@nicholasthon973 it's all a matter of comparison. Compare it to an S Class, any S Class in the last 30 years, and you will realize Tesla should do better.
Is black a nightmare to keep clean ??
Chicago owner he’ll yea!
Voice commands would be faster
Cool videa but Its only 17k miles. Lets circle back at like 60 or 100k, now that's a vid I want to see.
I just got my Tesla model Y in October. My only issue has been phantom breaking almost to point it is unsafe to use. My car has only cameras and no radar. Will future software updates improve it and have others had the degree of problems I have experienced?
BRAKING. NOT BREAKING.
well, if it's almost unsafe to use at all, no biggie.
Im sorry to hear that your experiencing a lot of phantom breaking. That should be polished out as time goes on, and if we just look at the extreme progress of FSD from beginning of last year to now, it shows the rate of improvement. If that rate continues, the end of this year it will become safer than the average person. AP should also become better too, with people using it on average being in 11x less crashed, but keep in mind that its semi Autonomous, so human input is necessary at the moment.
How is it in snow?
All wheel drive with active traction control, heavier car and throw winter tires on they work great.
Spend $58,000 to save $18,000yr? Interesting. How much to charge for a year?
Didn't hear that mentioned. Just curious.
is that 19 inch rims? sure looks like it.
I don't think you are being necessarily irresponsible with the autopilot. On the highway, it's excellent and a better driver than most humans will ever be.
Hey Jason. I think a cool video is to actually do a pencil hardness test on various paint, especially tesla to show how soft it is compared to competitors ;). No one has done that yet.
I would love to see a video like that !
Auto Pilot is great but not nearly to the same technology level as FSD. That's why FSD is $10K. I want one of these so much, same color.
Ahh yes...I love to itch a good scratch. It's the best.
Call me crazy....but ever consider moving closer to the shop?
Nope, love my neighborhood. We are close to family and my kids love there school. Used to live minutes from the shop and just didn’t fit in.
@@ChicagoAutoPros that’s good dad material right their. Driving 30+ mins so your kids can live and go to school where they want. Love the car and the vids!
Never, we live far away for so many reasons. #1. His wife made him 🥰
If you guys are happy, that is all that matters. And thanks for not calling me crazy lol.
How are you liking your suspension?
I love it! Looks better and I like the tighter suspension.
@@ChicagoAutoPros enjoyed your video. I love my MP3 as much as you do!
Did you do PPF on the entire car? Or just the front end? Also, you did a ceramic coat on the whole thing?
The whole car.
Sorry I’m getting a model Y soon and I was looking for suggestions on what to do. Just for clarification you did PPF on the entire car as well as ceramic coating on the entire car?
@@ThePTspecialist Yes he did, If I recall, he has videos going over the whole thing.
Hm does something like ppf cost?
@@4sizle depends on the car and the installer. $5-7k isn't unusual for a full wrap.
I've been professionally driving for over 25 years and I've seen many people using autonomous driving and I have to say those are some of the scariest people on the road! As I stated I've been driving for over 25 years professionally and I can never find myself to give up control to artificial intelligence. I agree it's a cool feature and I agree many hours in the car is a lot of wasted time behind the wheel but we're talking about your life and everybody else's life on the road at highway speed. In my opinion people should never give up control!
Have you tried it for yourself?
If you looked at the numbers, it's non equivocal. The National Fire Protection Agency reported that in the US, a car catches on fire once every 19 million miles driven. In the last decade, Tesla cars have caught fire once every 205 million miles. Also, in the US, there is an automobile crash every 484,000 miles driven. In Q2 of 2021 Tesla drivers, with autopilot engaged, reported a crash once every 4.41 million miles and without autopilot the cars crash once every 1.2 million miles. You are statistically 10x safer from fires or getting in an accident if you are in a Tesla with autopilot vs a gas engine car.
@@ChicagoAutoPros They have been driving professionally for 25 years (did you miss that between the 3 sentences from the last time they mentioned it) and would never try something that’s factually safer than driving professionally for 25 years, which he’s done.
Tesla AI has been driving At least a hundred times the man hours more than that without an accident but you don't trust it, thats just ignorance. It has a hell of a lot more experience driving than you ever will.
I agree. One must pay attention constantly.
Lived in deer country for 17 years. Deer like to try to commit suicide regularly where I lived.
Paying attention….and some luck kept me safe.
I can see the hands free autopilot helping with the elderly, medical emergencies, and long distance driving.
But does not mean you can crawl into a back seat and take a nap….NO🤦♀️. Or read, text, and play games.😓
You still need to pay attention! But it could help with fatigue and give a persons hands a rest.
There are to many factors out there. Pay attention!
That said, I can see the features acting as a 2nd set of eyes, especially in the dark.
I read how one ladies water broke early, while she was driving her Tesla.
She was understandably “occupied” and set the autopilot feature to go to a hospital. The car perfectly pulled up to the front emergency door where doctors were waiting for her.
That kind of emergency…..plus perhaps going through a heart attack or sudden health crisis is a good time to activate an auto pilot feature.
Giving birth is a bit distracting. Same with having a heart attack.
Her seats were gonna need a deep clean though…….😖
Car just goes to the nearest hospital, or tells 911 the best place (GPS)to meet the occupant.
Editing is annoying but love the honesty
One thing that is a problem is the cost. The car is twice the price of normal gas engine cars keeping out of reach for a majority of car buyers.
That’s not true. A Model 3 Performance is on par with a BMW M3 which are two comparable car models. BMW M3 is more expensive base version than a Model 3 Performance which comes fully loaded (Minus FSD since BMW can’t offer that) going down the list a BASE BMW 3 Series starts at the SAME price point as Model 3 fully loaded (again no FSD)
The notion that Tesla Model 3 and Ys are more expensive than their gas comparable is false. Price compare and you’ll see you’re wrong. Insert an Audi A3 or Mercedes C-Class instead and the same thing happens.
Also average price of a brand new car at the end of 2021 was 43k so majority of car buyers aren’t buying 20k corollas anymore.
@@MrLSDownliner the average cost of a car has increased so that stat doesn’t mean much. also average price isn’t a good way to prove much but the median price also applying that the stat would include teslas that would also increase the averages.
@@MrLSDownliner also not many people are buying m3s in america to use m3 as a reference point which most average people would assume they can’t afford is crazy.
@@MrLSDownliner the most popular car in america is a toyota rav 4 and a honda crv excluding trucks which both start at the range of 26k
Please put the Tesla exhaust system on man, it’s so cool!!
