Kobe Bryant Full Series Highlights
2002 NBA Playoffs
Western Conference Finals
LA Lakers vs Sacramento Kings
- 27.1 ppg, 6.3r, 3.9a, 1.4s and 1.1b
Led by Chris Webber and 1st-year King Mike Bibby, Sacramento appeared ready to dethrone Shaq & Kobe’s dynasty-in-the-making Lakers. LA had previously defeated the Kings 3-2 in the 2000 WC First Round, and swept them in the Conference Semifinals of 2001. After a NBA-best 61 win season, the ‘02 Kings seemed to be the team with the most realistic chance of beating the Lakers.
The Pacific Division Rivals battled in an absurdly competitive, intense, hard fought, and somewhat controversial 7 game series. Besides game 3, each matchup was decided by less than 8 points. This included games 4 and 5 with 1 point margins by way of game winners.
While Kobe’s numbers were good, not great, he played his tail off logging 44 minutes/game. His situational play in the 4th quarter of games 1, 4 and 7 proved to be vital, as the 23 year old consistently made plays down the stretch. The must win games 6 and 7 prompted Kobe to put up back-to-back 30p, 10r, 5a outings.

Is this Lakers-Kings WCF the best NBA Playoff series ever?
If it isn't the best it's certainly gotta be top 5!!The Bulls Vs Celtics 2009 series has to be up there too but as a Lakers fan I loved this series minus the bad refs.It was arguably our toughest series through the 3 peat
Kobe Bryant is the best player better than Lebron James
Jay Money agreed. Def the toughest, pushed to the absolute limit. Trailing by 24 pts down 2-1, then down 3-2, trailed by 9 in 2nd half of game 7. This was the NBA finals.
@@dcshow 2010 NBA Finals considering Kobe's age was so tough neither team could shoot efficiently in Game 7. Also there was no ref controversy lingering for years. Kobe was completely gassed at the end of that series. You will never see a grueling defensive series like that ever again.
@@dcshow I agree!!Only series that made me sweat like that during the 3 peat was the WCF vs Portland 😲 Once we beat the Kings I knew the 3 peat was complete!!!
he had it all, athleticism, speed, ball handling, shooting, post moves, midrange, 3pointers, defense, clutch, Kobe had no weaknesses in his game
🐐
Str8 facts, the most skilled player of all times
And he was an aggressive killer .. that’s a real problem lol that’s why he got boo by every team crowd
He had 1 on, the fg%
@@rendylie6182 nah, injuries, kind of position he played SHOOTING GUARD makes the analyst argument that his career FG % keeps him out of the GOAT conversation invalid.
"cow bells never blocked my jump shot"- GOAT
Much rather watch this than the arena league basketball going on right now.
I'm with you
I second that
Exactly!
More exciting than today's NBA
To the people that forget how great Kobe was just look at these games I still can't believe he's no longer with us
With only 22-23 years old.. .challenging the best, thaT IS UNBELIEVABLE
Basketball fabulous five
game 6 was fixed, so karma came back in a form of a helicopter 🚁

@mexaztek2008 (✿☉。☉)
back when nba was watchable. i am so glad i grew up in that era.
i forgot how athletic and fast kobe was prior to that knee injury,
The closest to MJ ever. 23 years old with a game this polished. Please let me know when your GOAT in wtv year he is in has an arsenal this complete.
the scary thing was that he was barely entering his prime. This was scratching the surfaces.
Facts. Kobe/Wilt. Or Wilt/Kobe.
Offensively, he was the best I've ever seen... left shoulder, right shoulder, pull-ups, catch-and-shoot, filthy nasty off the bounce, balance, footwork, athleticism, mentally unshakable...
No hate for Kobe or whatsoever but didn’t LeBron take Cleveland to the finals at the age of 22? 2007, also he had one of his best games ever facing elimination against the pistons during that playoff run.
@@fostereliphasjr796 no lbj is 23 and his in the weak east
Kobe stepped up so big for LA, in this series. He was quick and smart to score.
Notice Shaq's pace at 15:34 and how Kobe is like "Speed it up Big Guy, I see somethin'"
because Shaq was fat for a player at that time. Shaq was fat and slow in that era.
good eye to catch that. thanks
Young Kobe would have killed in this steph curry era
I didn't know a sidekick could score 30-40 points in a playoff series lol
Outside of Wade in 2011 i dont think a “sidekick” has done that since , Kyrie was close to 30 in the 16 Finals and KD and Curry were more equals to me so yeah Kobe was special , he was also the youngest out the group doing this
I’m sayin 😂😂
Still blows my mind that people still think there is any nba players more skilled than Kobe or Jordan . Open your eyes , Kobe had everything in his arsenal and could play defense exceptionally well . I mean 12x all defensive team , scoring titles , clutch shots , mentality, footwork , attention to detail , fadaways anywhere on the court , the ability to dominant every one in the NBA for year after year , playing through broken fingers on his shooting hand and still dropped 40 plus and won a ring but that’s neither here nor there … two free throws on a torn Achilles …. Shooting left handed because he tore his rotator cuff in his arm …. I mean there’s never been anyone like Kobe in the history of the NBA besides Jordan . We miss you Kobe , and miss watching you play man
That's their opinion to do so.
Kobe is the Pound 4 Pound greatest of all time.
05-09 Kobe was too cold, and the crazy thing was, by then he'd lost a step of his athleticism.
Imagine this Kobe in today’s game !
That would be scary!!!!!!
He'll be tearing the league up. There would be a Kobe rule.
@@RealSoloShow he average 35 I think
@@craigmackssj3680 If he could average 35 for a season in a much slower era, he’d definitely put those type of numbers in today’s league
@@craigmackssj3680he'll average 40 in todays game
In my opinion Kobe was a better player than MJ more polished at 22 years old...a better player especially at 17 yrs old to make the NBA means alot.
2001 playoffs and series like this is what put Kobe over the top as the best perimeter player over his peers at that time, without question. No disrespect to T-Mac, Vince, AI, and other elite guards. But honestly, As a laker fan, in my personal lifetime, despite the bad refs, never have i watched a more grinding, every point matter, small margin of error, type series ever!!! Game 4 was the only game that had me worried, down 24. Momentum on they side. But poise, experience, and a TEAM effort gets you far. Just a great time to be a Laker fan #WATTBA
this is 02.playoffs
54 _17m I know that........ I’m saying the 2001 playoffs, the year before, where he demolished the series leading up to the finals, top notch defense in the West, mainly the Spurs, who were the #1 defense in the NBA that year, made a joke out of their defense and of course the Kings and Blazers. 2001, 2002 playoffs catapulted him in a different class from the other elite perimeter players.
Kobe played thru some tough D... My nigga Was Raw
And he had a illness
Mike Breene calling Laker games While Kobe Bryant was torching teams is my ideal Basketball memory.
I remember those days man. . . To put it simple the 3 peat Kobe was just as good as a Prime Jordan !!!!!! If you didn’t see it live you may never understand !!
If Kobe just took one step back on those long 2s, he’d be the all time leading scorer damn
If I had one shot ,one player, and that shot to saved my life. I would put Kobe on the line. Kobe is the most clutch player of all time!! I think he is the closest to reach MJ status. I almost think he is more skilled and probably more clutch then anyone ever to lace them up. RIP LIL BRO KOBE
Jordan is more clutch stop it. You said it by saying Kobe is the closest to MJ status.
Bronsexuals don't even have him top 5
Number 8 Kobe was crazy
2023 stil watching my idol Kobe ..🥹🐍
Kobe Bryant in 00-01 season & 00-02 season was prime wade 06 level for sure. Then went on to be MJ level in 05-06 to 09 🙌🏻 (& 02-03) Kobe with his true shooting and EFG with his 12 all nba all D teams is without a doubt a top five nba player ever
Straight facts my guy
Not just that we had the great Kobe Bryant at number 8, we had the 24 Kobe Bryant, and the black mamba, that's what you call the goat
Kobe has a lot of skills and arsenal in his game.
His skills were the best.
Kobe’s rebounding was insane in this series
Kobe was truly the goat!
This had to be one if not thee best Western conference finals series in Kobe career
I agree
Love Kobe but not even close. He put up far superior numbers in 2001 & 2008 WCF vs the Spurs, 2009 WCF vs the Nuggets and 2010 vs the Suns.
Kobe had an excellent series you can see his hustle and intensity were so much more valuable than his considerable numbers
And I'll take on King fans here Kobe gets hits a lot in this series where there are no calls
Yes G6 refs gave the game to Lakers, that elbow on Bibby was bad an should have been an offensive foul but the foul wasn't actually called on Bibby like some people think it was, there was an intentional foul by Christie afterwards
As bad as G6, Kings were gifted G5. Shaq picked up a lot of ticky tack/phantom fouls and fouled out, Bobby Jackson gets away with yanking on Kobe's jersey at the end which cause him to fumble the ball and not get as clean of a look off on a game winner attempt
At end of G7 regulation when Shaq misses his shot Kobe gets a tip attempt that misses you can't see it here but if you watch the full game they show a replay where Kobe clearly gets hit on the arm by Turkoglu very forgotten play
Anyways Kobe was pretty huge in G7 draws two fouls in the final minute of regulation to give the Lakers a 1 pt lead twice (and both of those were clear as day fouls nothing like the calls in G6), also plays excellent defense on Bibby in OT. Goes as a very under the radar great performance
Kings missed 20+ free throws in that game. Trays why they lost not cuz of the refs . Phantom calls or not they make 75% of their free throws they win that game. Not you but too many people blame the refs
FOH Kimgs Got robbed.
@@johnbencomo3098 Nigga it’s Kings not Kimgs, get educated. If you’re gonna put a counterargument, learn some basic grammar and punctuation.
Kobe did all the little things to win, outside of taking charges. That's what makes him the best ever.
Now this was a series!! Wow and I forgot how good young kobe was, dude is electric. Every shot he made was like 2 defenders in him, fading away, people question his percentage but like yeah do you see how he’s defended ? As a lakers fan and me being like 10 years old I still remember the stress this series gave me. The kings were fucking good
Kobe Bryant it's a honor watching you play the truth Michael Jordan is the g.o.a.t but you're right beside him #1 and #2 kobe is more skillful
Oh yeh! Kobe and M.J. are the GOAT. They will be on GOAT MOUNTAIN and of course Shaq as well as Lebron James. But Kobe is right in the center of it all. I'm loving it! Just loving it! Wish he was here. We all know how Kobe feels when it comes to whose 1st., 2rd., and so on, he never included himself. Why? Because everything that we see him do, he said and I quote, "everything that I do from Michael, he's my mentor." unquote. Kobe is much too modest to take credit for himself the way he played his game, he always gave credit to Michael, he loved Michael so much, and always wanted to be like him until he didn't know or realize where Michael mentoring stop and his own training of himself began. Kobe was always gifted, and talented. He took what Michael taught him and improved upon it, he took it to the never level and that's beyond what Michael has ever done on the court. Kobe did the things he dreamed of doing on the court, he challenged every player to be better and do better. He pushed himself always in every game and he gave it his all. He gave more to the world of sport than any player ever had and that includes M.J. Yes, Kobe is the GOAT, he's the greatest player that I have ever seen play the game. No one else will ever do all the things Kobe and Michael have done on the court, and don't try to tell me, Lebron James. Lebron James is no match for either one of them. Please, there is just no comparison. This series is by far the best series ever, I rather watch Kobe any day than watch the games they got going on now. Please spare me the argument, it will always be Kobe's hand down. Now stick a fork in it.
@domcarter It's the resistance, relentless that drove kobe and separated him from his peers, moves like 23:50-23:56, the patience and IQ 26:50-27:00 are a prime example of his skill level at 23 that was ahead of his time. Another interesting underrated part of kobs game was his push floaters in HEAVY traffic. You should detail those @domcarter 🤷♂️
Totally agree. And i have so many albums full of diff kobe skills one of which is “floaters.” I promise i’ll get to it. Always appreciate the insight 🙏
yea, 2000-2002 those floaters were on display. no one else had a bag like this man. 2003 he incorporated a lot more back to the basket attacks that replaced some of these floaters that he favored so heavily before added 5-10 lbs
Everybody said tmac Carter or other all star swingmen would have brought lakers to champ with shaq. I don’t agree. What differs Kobe from other fellow superstars is how much killer instinct he has and how keen he is willing to work hard towards victory and champion.
Facts 💯
Kobe the great.
I was a 5th grader in 01 but oh how this games seems like yesterday
This ti me is when kobes game that real legit superstar leap . He already had it all and did it multiple times but this series and the spurs series something was different. He not only played with the iq , defense , midrange, 3 point , driving , intensity grit that he already played with but it was magnified as he was playing more confident than ever. He knew in every series that not one defender could stop him it didnt matter who it was. Leg sleeve kobe was a mf nightmare
6:00 Cold af
Great series, Horry in game 4 kept it alive. Kobe against Mike Bibby, classic hoops man
If it wasn't for that horry, game-winning shot, no three-peat for LA.
He was a monster. damn
Goat!!
I cant imagine if prime Kobe, tmac and ai play on todays game lol, i mean just look at how basic kawhi,Tatum and derozan move, thats not even close to kobe
Bro Kobe would’ve averaged 40 and I’m not even fucking playing
He averaged 22 pts in 2015 nd averaged 17 in 2016 after all them injuries so he most definitely would kick on niggas
Tatum is definitely nice he isn’t as quick as Kobe when he was young but he definitely plays like a mix of 8 and 24
@@6dotz u deff didnt watch how crazy killer Kobe and tmac lol, they both next with mj prob the most beautiful skill set player ever, ..
Offensively prime kobe tmac vince carter and ai would have lit this current league on fire. They all could have easily averaged well above 30 especially with how easy it is to get to the line. Ai LIVED at the line he regularly shot 12 free throws a game imagine now. All 4 of then could have averaged close to 15 free throws a game because of nasty they were driving to the rim.
This kobe is something different...so young and yet unstoppable at times...it's a short list of players with this type of skill..that's just facts..no debate(goodz voice)
I miss these types of series
Kobe forever Goat💯
Sacramentos was a really good defense team dam
but they blew it in the end.
Wow super excitement Kobe Bryant..I really miss you idol.+
White sports commentators today also the black ones kill me when they say that LeBron is next to Mike, they forget this MAN here played the game of basketball, they just exclude him from the GOAT conversation and LeBron is not better than The Mumba. HE WAS A COLD KILLER AND THE MOST SKILLED PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY. REIGN IN POWER BLACK MUMBA MR. KOBE BRYANT!!!!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Kobe caught that rape case that’s the only reason people don’t speak highly, just like they bring up the case with Chauncey when he became coach the It’s the “MEDIA” brainwashing
Nobody can hold candlelight to Kobe, Shaq, and the Lakers. They are taking no prisoners on this court. I just love it, even more, when Kobe has the ball. They are a great team, and nobody can beat them especially when Kobe is playing. Thank Dom Carter for continuing to post these Kobie's babies. Thank you, we love it.
Big Shot Bob looked at the team like "Who's your daddy??!!" LOL I just remember the fight both of these teams had. So much animosity that the next year they fought in the preseason I think. Go Lakers!!!
2:37 What did you say Mike Breen???? 🗣WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?
Yes we (Laker nation) know it was Kobe was the real true MVP of that 2002 run
4:25 I totally forgot they tried to poison Kobe
Man thanks so much for posting highlights of my favourite player , horry shot brings tears in my eyes everytime i watch it, the kings were the best team lakers faced during the three peat with blazers in 2000. Thanks you so much
You got it man no prob. Had a lot of fun putting together this vid and the game 7. Truly an incredible series. Every game was so intense.

Right Kobe> MJ and LeBron
KOBE GOAT
Wow kobe was 6’7 here big stretch
That spin on Bibby though at 19:14 WOW
Nice find… Kobe was different man. Such a simple move but he makes it look so unique. He was able to switch between trained moves and unorthodox so effortlessly. Unorthodox is stuff you don’t practice like that move you pointed out… it’s honestly like an dbz ultra instinct Kobe. Lol
You’re a legend for this upload 👍🏾
Much appreciated 🙏
I'm loving everything about this series. Please, bring on Kobe's babies. I rather spend my time on CZcams watching Kobe play. Man, thank you so every much Dom Carter. Kobe's babies series are the best in the NBA playoff ever! I'm happy and they are all well played!

When I watch this I can't help but think KB8 had even more in his bag than MJ and was more fun to watch. Same indomitable winning spirit. Look at that reaction when Horry hit the buzzer beater. Got emotional watching it. We were so blessed to get to watch him ball. I actually watch more Kobe clips than of MJ so he probably is my favorite player of all time.
I love the defense in this era. It made the game very interesting.
HORRY FOR THE WIN YESSSSSS!!!! Forever iconic
Thanks again Dom Carter, for helping us get our Kobe on. Man, you know what time it is! Thanks, we really are loving these Kobe's babies. This is the best NBA Playoff series ever and we're just so happy, man I'm really enjoying this. Thanks again for Kobe's babies. Appreciate it!
My favorite player & one my top5
F*ck!! I forgot how much of a battle we had with the kings, I don't remember it going to overtime in game 7.. But I'll NEVER forget Big Shot Rob's 3 pointer to win at the buzzer!!! 15:34 check the chemistry between Kobe and Shaq. Kobe gives him a little tap to move ahead faster and shield Kobe on the mild fast break.

There are clowns out there that literally thinks Shaq carried Kobe. But of course they never watched these games, they only hear about it. Just watch him play, and youll understand why people hated him like Tom Brady.
Kobe was way better than LeBron
Bron can't touch Kobe.
Hey Michael Terrell, you're absolutely right, Kobe played while sick and so did M.J. The only time Kobe did not play was because of major injuries, other wise he played. He took his game seriously and he loved the fans, he was always concern about the fan and the parent who paid their hard earned money to come to see him play and he didn't want to not be there playing or sitting in street clothes chilling with his peers while the little kid was disappointed because he wasn't playing. Now Kobe cared about the fans and his game. Whatever he could do to help especially the children he would do, and he knew that it was his responsibility to make sure that he was able to play. Kobe tired and succeeds in being there for his fans. They just need to recognize Kobe and give credit where credit is due. There is no comparison, absolutely no way King James will ever touch Kobe, he's in a league all by himself. Yes, you are right, Bron can't touch him. I'm loving it!
