The effectiveness is in the simplicity of the motion.

I want to see some crazy attack techniques that Master Arvanitis can do with that over-grown Rambo hair!

From my understanding, Arvanitis dabbled in each arts, wrestling, judo, savate, kung fu, etc. and created the first modern pankration. Today, this would be considered BS but back in his days prior to the rise of MMA, it was enough to forge an art.

Why would it be considered bs today, if anything it should be a wonderful recreation as well as a proper understanding what is needed in a fight, I can definitely agree that it would have been ahead of it’s time back then

@@galaxyrider1704 today, if you dabble and create an art, it is considered crappling. lol
standards are higher after the beginning of bjj/mma era. today, we emphazise knowledgeability and professionalism.
back then people can dabble and create arts. since arvanitis' art is from back then, it is considered legit today, but if someone today makes it like that, it is bs

@@alter5057 , Facts! The modern "Pankration" is not historically accurate martial art. It is a mix of many Asian martial arts. The real Pankration is long dead since christianism and was forgotten in time with no lineage. You can try to recreate using milenar depictions in Greek artifacts like people do in HEMA - which looks totally different what this guy is doing here. The modern Pankration is just Bullshido in my opinion.

@@aluisiofsjr You can of course find Arvanitis' martial art background in the internet. He is a dabbler in different arts like judo, wrestling, boxing, savate, wing chun, etc. It is not bullshido, but it is different than original pankration.

The bag he is working on is close to 500lbs, I've seen no footage of any MMA, Kickboxing, or Boxing fighter work out on a bag like that. For that matter no footage of a Karate or Tkd fighter. The only other person I've seen is Bruce Lee hit an even heavier bag on film. Just about any current UFC champ hitting this bag would be knocked back or unable to maintain his composure. Truly you know little of how to judge power, assuming you know anything at all. I'm sure you think you know, you don't full stop.

LOL @Belida with the weird reply
I'm sure there are very heavy bags out there, maybe not 400lb plus since I don't know how much more useful it would be than, say, a 130 lb water bag that doesn't move much even if you hit hard. The guy in the video just isn't in the greatest shape and his form is sketchy.

No disrespect to Arvanitis, but how do we know this bag is ~500lbs? This video has to be 30+ years old.
