Kiri being born from Eywa was also what I was thinking during the film. Though my thoughts were actually more referring to what the Na’vi believe. They believe that all energy is borrowed, and one day, you have to give it back. That when one life ends, another begins.
I think when Grace went through the ceremony with the Na’vi, and she was too weak to complete it, she essentially gave her borrowed energy back to Eywa, and in return, Eywa gave a life back, that being in the form of Kiri. She essentially did what Mo’at prayed for her to do: let Grace be reborn as one of The People.
This would still make Eywa Kiri’s other parent, as well as hint at Grace’s own connection to the deity.
Her abilities are fascinating though, I really hope they expand on that more in the future films.
100% agree. I believe that it was also Eywa’s gift to Grace.Also She could see in her memories. Eyea could see what happen on Earth and in turn chose to create another life to help protect her world that she is connected to. So she basically made a Jesus but she learned that from Grace. There are many levels to this.
This also would explain why she can go into Graces memories and speak with her

@@satarajackson6345 I don’t agree with this reasoning behind Eywa’s decision to create Kiri, that she was created because of a sudden ‘savior’ complex or desire of one delivering vessel. Eywa’s main line of defense is her ability to control animals. The first film explores that premise pretty well when it reaches a turning point in the war when the Navi are losing. It’s natural for a living and intelligent entity to use outside knowledge for self preservation, if it pertains to a real perceived threat. Why aren’t there more Kiris if Eywa’s reasoning for her creation was defense? Why give Kiri a choice? Why induce a seizure in Kiri like she is an alien parasite? It makes no sense to me for Kiri to be selfishly and intentionally born of Eywa. Besides, Eywa’s gift to Grace would have been life through her Avatar if Kiri was directly involved, then Kiri wouldn’t be so deeply concerned about her identity.
I think Mo’at had it out for Grace after her daughter died under her watch and care(Neteri’s sister). She only listened to Jake’s request when what he promised came true and the humans started attacking, especially when he became their leader and garnered the support from the Navi. She did nothing to rescue Grace before his request but passively let Grace’s previous students and Navi children drag her unconscious body with them.
I'm pretty sure Kiri is meant to be a Jesus kind of scenario, where Eywa impregnated Grace's avatar when she was hooked up to the Tree Of Souls. Na'vi mate for life after all, so it's HIGHLY unlikely that Grace would have randomly hooked up with someone in her avatar body knowing this. It would also explain why Kiri can sense Eywa and has these powers and connection to the planet and its creatures.

Well it’s fun to spectate who her biological father is, her real father in all the ways that truly matter is Jake.
I believe Eywa is the father of Kiri, just makes sense.
It also proves to everyone in that universe that Eywa isn’t just a deity figurehead, she’s real and there, she IS the planet and life on Pandora
The timing of consensual conception is off. And, why would Eywa want to impregnate an artificial Navi? Why would Eywa also prevent Kiri from getting that closure? Not to Mention accepting Grace’s consciousness? It almost seems like Eywa isn’t impartial, like the Navi believe, but selfish. The creators really abused their audience when they introduced a newly related character of the audience into an arguably traumatic seizure, then passed it of as a human-like Epilepsy episode. How lame can you get while knowing that Eywa is a conscious neural network, and likely caused the seizure for getting too close? Seems a bit arbitrary to me.

I truly thought it was a birth that was gifted to Grace by Eywa. I immediately thought of this because I compared it to how Anakin in Star Wars was born. Born through the Force and birthed from his mother.
I figured this was the way she was born because of her connection with the life in Pandora and how she can hear and see things other Na’vi can’t. It’s truly an interesting development in this universe and I’m curious to see how all of it unfolds.
That's the problem for me. Because it was a great concept few years ago. Once again, FEW YEARS AGO. Making Kiri a "chosen one" born out of the force, is just... old. It is so extremely transparent and obvious now that it became cringy. Literally most of the shows nowadays are forcing on us the idea of "super Jesus", which just makes the show the same as the rest of them, nothing special.
And don't get me wrong, I still am okayish with the idea of the chosen one, but just think that it got overused enough, so it makes the entire purpose of this character actually shallow. If the Avatar 2 came out those few years ago, as planned, the impact would have been different.
I am actually more interested into the plot of Spider and his relationship with his father, than Kiri aka Super Jesus. There is such a big potential for a villain here.

Jake prayed to Eywa before the battle asking for her help in the upcoming conflict. Neytiri told Jake that Eywa "doesn't choose sides" but then we see the creatures of Pandora do intervene in the battle. I believe that Kiri is part of Eywa's answer to Jake's prayers and is the help that Pandora/the people need.

2:14 I was kinda glad that scene got deleted. Cause it's not really believable. It's pretty much a given that any life form on the same level of sentience as humans, will learn to lie. They just may not do it as much.

I would absolutely love to do that! That has been in the back of my head for many years. Honestly the main difficulty would just be getting the timeline figured out with all of the series. There's a lot to go through, but I love Stoick!

She is so Pandora's Jesus. Ever since Kiri was born whitout a father and the whole Grace being one with Ewah thing i support this theory.
And don't forget that Kiri got a seizure right after she asked who the dad is. As if Ewah tried to tell her "you aren't ready for it yet"

I just watched this yesterday and I gotta say, despite the 13 year wait, it was pretty great. Although I personally feel like the sudden return of the RDA felt more like an excuse to have them come back. I do like the situation with Quaritch though. It seems like he could potentially become an ally at some point, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't think she has a father tbh. I think she's kinda like Anakin Skywalker and doesn't have one. Like, I think Kiri is solely the daughter of Grace and was Eywa's way of trying to keep Grace alive. Hence why, she looks similar to Grace, sounds like Grace and even acts like Grace minus wanting to smoke lol like you said lol. It makes alot of sense and I thought this the second I got out of the theater when I saw the new Avatar. Kiri is my favorite character from the new movie.
That is more logical than Norm being the father. Eywa is the All-Mother after all, the one who brought life on Pandora. Everything is connected, plants, animals, people, just everything. I'm just sold on Kiri being Eywa and Grace's child, there is no other way to explain why Kiri is so tuned with everything around her, and we know it's a little different for the other Na'vi that inhabits Pandora in the first place.
There is another logical way, and that comes with the less savory part of war. It starts with an R. Besides, Mo’at the spiritual leader and Eywa communicator had it out for Grace for “killing” her daughter, Neteri’s sister, and she was obviously reluctant to help her in any way, even when Jake asked. The people definitely were not United on reviving Grace into her Avatar form, and it was the children who saved her from being left at the home tree, not Mo’at.
@@corindawestover1275 This is also a theory that I have thought of. An all-too-common outcome of ALL wars, are half-breed children, born not of any arranged ceremony, but of the unfortunate outcome of having MEN as Soldiers.
Add to that, the element of revenge, a shared trait between the Navi & Humans, and the possibility of Humanity passing on it's _other_ concepts (besides lying), through the interaction of Navi and *anybody* with a perverse nature, (i.e, Necromany, the "love" of death [or a vegetative state]), or a scientist wondering "what if I..." Between these, is plenty of possibility that the donor is either an Avatar, or one of the Actual Navi people.

Probably because her avatar body was still alive even if it was technically in a coma.

Well Eywa is a goddess. There’s more than one deity that has been known to impregnate through the mind. God (of the monotheistic religions) is one. Another one is a fellow goddess Athena/Minerva (Greco-Roman Pantheon). They literally just think it and there target is impregnated with their spawn.
In Eywa’s case, The trees of souls are her direct line to the physical plane of pandora (as we now see there’s more than one). Therefore, when Grace and Jake were connecting with the tree of souls, the tree was acting as a permanent avatar cubicle for them to be in their avatars. It stands to reason that in order for the tree to accomplish this, the soul in question must go through a similarly revealing, all encompassing ritual as the mating ritual, except the partner is Eywa. It could be that Eywa has more than one domain than simply creation and that she impregnated Grace to not only be an arbiter for change amongst her favored people, but to stop a great calamity that will soon engulf Pandora. A Calamity that will far outweigh the conflicts that came before, possibly even world ending.

@@karolinakuc4783 untrue. Comatose people have given vaginal birth. Your body will force the baby out even if you are brain dead. Source: I read an article about this exact thing a few years ago.
The only issue may arise if the baby is facing the wrong way (breech) or any other birth complication.

Kiri may be an Anakin-like character without the dark-side turn. She has a mother, but I agree that her other parent is probably Eywa herself, like how the Force created Anakin to bring balance; in this case, peace between Pandora and Earth (maybe).

I always thought that Ewya wanted and knew that there needed to be a bridge between the two people's so that peace could eventually be achieved so she created Kiri using her own DNA and Grace's!!!
There are fertility rituals in the Na’vi without mating for life but I think you’re right . I’m not sure Grace participated in them in her avatar when she was in the village
I really love Kirk and her character. I can’t wait for future films just so I can see her story more and more and maybe we all get a better understanding of her creation on a for sure level.

The look on graces face is as though she is remembering something horrible
That, or the Idea of explaining “her father” is difficult and she doesn’t want to hurt Kiri. I don’t think Kiri looks enough like a human for her father to be one, or biologically connect with the Artificial Navi Avatar, but it is possible. She is also the most human looking besides Jake. The Metkaiena Navi show their distaste with Kiri’s appearance well. And I was upset when Eywa interrupted her closure with Grace by inducing a violent seizure. I don’t believe Norm is the father, nor that human Grace was pregnant as a human, or aware of pregnancy in the Avatar until after her death.

I think it is Eywa. I say this because in the 1st Avatar, Grace gets shot in the stomach and that’s how she dies. It is very unlikely that a baby would survive that.
Can I just say something? I’ve been a huge avatar fan since it came out which has led me to hear endless bashing and making fun of a movie that I truly love. I can’t even watch any avatar theory videos from people cause they just end up mocking it and making fun of it. I know it’s not a perfect movie and James Cameron isn’t the perfect writer but I still love it. Now for my kiri father theory. Mo’at says to Jake before Grace dies that “the Great Mother may choose to save all that she is…in this body…” which to me really shows that Eywa just literally planted Kiri into Grace’s avatar right then and there.

Kiri is a rebirth of the consciousness of the Dr but since starting with a new brain the the whole brain has to redevelop from a single cell. So if the consciousness of the doctor the memories would be gone but core personality would remain.
With that logic, everyone has the same consciousness now, even Jake. How does that work? Are they all the same person?

Thank you for providing an explanation for the rather unique physiology of Tulkun. This apparent deviation from other pandora fauna irritated my biologist‘s brain to no end. Thought it a cheap plot device in order to introduce this Jonah and the whale scene.
I never once wondered who her dad was, I figured she was just a miracle Eywa situation. People are reading way too far into this.
One possibility I haven’t seen posted… her father is Jake Sully’s brother… conceived using their Avatar host bodies. Possibly why there is a long gestation. Can’t wait to find out.

Also when it come to mating they also do the arranged marriages thing. Natirie was supposed to be mated with tsu’tey. That’s why her mother got angry and why tsu’tey turned in disappointment and anger when they were told that Jack and her mated.
Kiri it’s the Avatar of Eywa, the first movie is introduction to how the events come to place for her birth since Jake show how humans destroy everything so she was sent to protect everything, the second movie build up about her understanding things, I bet 3rd movie will be about her powers

My bet is Kiri is not fathered by Eywa, but is a piece of Eywa herself. Explains the way nature responds to her, also explains her seizures. Eywa even a piece of Eywa is too big to fit into a Na'vi body for long. I bet they will get worse an she likely will die from it. Eyway herself put a herself into a Na'vi body to experience what a mortal goes through, being that she chose a Avatar over a classic Na'vi says to me she is doing 1st hand research into humans as well.

she is a Avatar version of scarlet witch - not much info about her parents but she becomes powerful later on. or Avatar version of ring barer.
I think that Kiri IS Eywa reincarnated sorta. Eywa is all things but had to put herself in a body form for something big to come. Its why she had a seizure. She cant connect with herself. Her body form just has no recollections of who she really is yet. She is a goddess. Eywa knows that in order to persevere with the sky people trying kill her, she had to think of something to survive.
Not sure if what im saying makes sense, but it makes sense in my head lol.
I also thought of this as I watched the movie. it seems obvious to me. her connection to Eywa is profound and deeper than any other in existence. I really have no doubts that she is the way forward. how it's going to happen and how we get there I have no clue but I am sure that Kiri is the child of Eywa and is the future of all the Na'vi!

I do think Kiri is like a clone of some sort of Grace, like when some animals and plants on Earth are able to reproduce asexually, but in this case it was only made possible because of Eywa I believe, but also because Kiri holds traits of Eywa herself, being able to communicate with all the animals and able to adapt to her surroundings quickly, I think Kiri was made up of Grace physically, but made up of Eywa consciously.
I wonder more if it from somebody they don't know about or if grace was close to Pandora mother like she is and also maybe someone we don't know or unexpectedly pop up in third movie

I just fell in love with kiri when I saw her for first time.
I think that when grace she was impregnated with eywa and kiri went in graces place to portray her mother seeming she never got a second chance to live again
Obviously she is a child engendered by Eywa because the planetary entity needed a closer communication with the Na’vi. The planet came close to being destroyed by the earth invaders and knew they were only temporarily pushed back, would return with more weapons and fighters. Survival requires Eywa be more actively and directly involved than before the war.
I feel Eywa impregnating Grace's avatar and making Kiri makes sense. Kiri does have a very deep connection with the flora and fauna of Pandora. I have wondered why she had a seizure at the Metkayina clan's spirit tree, but I do have a theory: if she is Eywa walking amongst the Na'vi, it would make sense that she wouldn't be able directly connect with any of the clans' trees.
My feeling was that it was a divine conception, Eywa tried to put life into Grace's avatar body, and succeed, just not in the way everyone was expecting.
I believe just like you that curie is a fusion of Grace Augustine and Navi God.

Kiri, conceived by Eywa, is the avatar of the "mind" of Eywa. I conjecture that she will travel to a crystal cave ( the magnetic Flux resonance) where she will touch the "heart" of Eywa and go full Moon Goddess.

Kiri may not have been a warrior, but she showed her ability to take care of business when she plugged into those mega anemonies to thwart the would-be villains. She's going to be a major part of the rest of the series. Really sucked that they didn't show Jake's vision quest in the first movie, as it adds so much to his character as a Navi and the story as a whole vs suddenly he's just accepted.
I have two theories about Avatar 2, the first is that Kiri's biological father is Norman Spellman and the second is that Grace Augustine will wake up human with blue stripes all over her body after the comma in the band with her DNA and carbon fiber .
Grace could, in theory, have fallen pregnant through a process called Parthenogenesis. What is Parthenogenesis? This is a process where the mother self impregnates, all off springs from this by document show that the child is born female. An example of this, in Australia's Reef HQ Aquarium, a Zebra shark named Leonie who was housed with 3 female sharks, shocked her keepers in 2016 when 3 of her eggs hatched living pups.
I think another Avatar driver had some fun with Grace's Avatar while she wasn't piloting it and it was in the barracks 😂

I feel like when Grace was dying, Aywa decided to keep the balance and gift Grace with a child. Like it would make sense to keep the balance, and since it was Grace who died wouldn't Aywa gift her?
