  • Drilling through thick steel can be a time-consuming and difficult process. The FEIN Slugger MagForce 90 Mag Drill makes this process very easy, with very little effort. The onboard electronic magnet comes on with the push of a button and locks the MagForce Drill down solidly. An included 1/2" ratchet can be used from either side of the FEIN mag drill to drive the annular cutter through the steel. Six different speeds allow you to choose your RPM from 130 up to 660. #review #tools #fein

Thanks for the great review. I do have one tip however: You should ALWAYS use the center pin when cutting. The pin has 3 functions: Aligning the center of the hole, opening the valve to feed cutting fluid through the center of the cutter, and to kick the slug out of the cutter when the hole is done.

Do you know if Fein is going to bring out a short hex bit set for the hex adapter? Be nice to have a #7 bit and some others for tapping. Great tool and perfect size for tight work . Just having a hard time finding the short bits for using it to tap. Also, at height inside a beam it’s tough to attach a fall arrest. Is there an add-on that would become available to better attach the drill when the strap isn’t usable? Thanks

@@shanekirkwood7234 Thanks for the question Shane. Fein has hex adapters on the way to fit in the 3/4" shank receiver just for this purpose. Stay tuned. As for securing the drill at height, you can use the strap in the traditional method or you can cinch it up to effectively make it a "D ring" wrapped around the drill that you can attach a lanyard or a squid to. Lots of options.

@@shanekirkwood7234 Yes we have one. The part number is 63206148010 and it will allow you to run hex shank short bits and drill/tap combos. Here's the link.

That’s awesome news. Great idea about the D-ring. I hadn’t thought of that! Thanks for the reply!

I would say $1300 isn't that bad of a price considering how handy it is.

Not sure about the application as truck frames are C shaped so a regular mag drill can do the same from the outside surfaces and $1300 is a tad steep considering a plasma torch from China Freight can be had for less while sneaking into tighter spaces but thanks for giving everyone a tour of this niche piece, Tim. Cheers!

should have tried turning the magnet off with the drill running , you can do that on a lot of mag drills and it shouldnt be so , an interlock would save a lot of grief

Watching you cut the chamfer does the drill have a depth stop? And is there a minimum thickness required? (I.e will the drill connect to 1/8" material?)

    • @Shoptoolreviews

It does not have a depth stop. It will connect with 1/8" material, but it's not going to be very secure. Thanks for watching.
