I, like Jerma, grew up in Boston and was taught that the founding fathers were literally the greatest philosophers and scientists of their time, and that New England was basically the Athens of the 18th century, so I understand the knee-jerk Franklin defensiveness lmaoo

Just played man eater, the shark game. That narrator is at least the American documentary voiceover, which is a little different.
It was an experience tuning in just in time to hear jeremy go 'ben franklin isn't in hell :(" and see the chat light up aboit franklin's slaveowning and the fact that like 20 skeletons from graverobbed dissections were found in the basement of his house
The skeletons found in the basement of one of his homes ‘belonged’ to the surgeon who lived there with him. He stole the bodies to dissect and study, doctors did a bunch of weird shit back then ..

It’s so epic that the American school system tells young children that the founding fathers were essentially deities whom are immune to any critical scrutiny. They’re described as if they were all 10 foot tall warrior-philosophers who could rip a British soldier into two halves with their bare hands before going home to invent the concept of freedom and happiness.

I love it when Jerma has to with a slightly tough enemy then goes on a rant about how in some capacity they are the absolute worst of something like Spear enemies being the worst type of enemies in any game. had a facecam, almost every stream had an extremely funny irl bit, but now I also like that there’s more immersion in whats happening in game without it.. idk what I prefer tbh
variety is preferred, or even something like the Thrillville stream where there’s just occasional facecam for irl gags

I like that Jerma loves Ben Franklin, probably not knowing that Franklin owned slaves and didn't speak out against slavery until very late in his life. Ben is def in hell
If he spoke out against it late in life, that means he probably changed his mind on the issue. You aren't judged by what you have done, but by your current character.
(Vast oversimplification about going to Heaven, since there is no way to go to Heaven without God's grace, since any sin separates you from God)
Plus, owning slaves does not mean you go to Hell. There are things in the Bible about owning slaves, but that you should treat them well, and respect them. Although slavery in Biblical times was very different from slavery in the 1800's, since most of the time the slaves were working to pay off a debt, rather than born into the system with no hope of getting out.

The act of owning slaves, regardless of any excuses made by some old religious drivel, is irredeemable.
