  • I'm Andrew Joseph Keith, here to show you how to make a hand armature with aluminum wire, pliers with cutters, and modeling clay. Cut five wires for fingers and one for the forearm, shaping them like a hand. The thumb wire should be shorter; use your hand as a guide. Then, add clay to form the wrist, palm, and muscles, paying attention to knuckles and joints for a realistic look. This DIY wire hand mannequin is great for improving your drawing skills, offering a 3D model to explore hand gestures and anatomy from different perspectives.

    won't the clay dry out? in that case should i sculpt a new hand every time i need a model? Is that it?

    • @ProkoTV
      @ProkoTV  Před 28 dny +3

      This kind of clay doesn't dry out, both the cheaper versions or the more expensive one Andrew uses.
      He mentions the non-drying clay at 00:24.

      If I'm not mistaken, this kind of clay is also commonly called plasticine! You can also look for that in stores.
      Something to be careful of though is that you don't want to leave this clay on paper or other absorbent surfaces; the oils can leech out and, while the clay won't technically be dry, it will become kind of crumbly and difficult to work with.

      @@ProkoTV thank you. I've never sculpted anything before. I was just wondering. I'm mostly just a digital artist and just sketch in my sketchbook. But eventually I do want to try sculpture. I think that would make you a better 2D artist because then you would know what everything looks like in 3D and I'm sure that would translate well into drawing.

    • @AndrewJosephKeith
      @AndrewJosephKeith Před 23 dny

      @@williammclean6594 I like looking up "soft aluminum wire" or "craft wire" and you can usually find it online. Usually the more you get the cheaper it is per pound/kg but if you just want to experiment a little bit of wire will work fine.

    To draw hands, you must first learn to sculpt hands.

    • @noob_artistrrrr

      this isn't intended for beginner artists even high level artists needs reference especially comic or manga artists to draw a pose quickly and save time. if you look at a manga artist's studio most of them probably has a human mannequin especially hands cause it's one of the most complicated body parts to draw
