- Lapierre bikes are back in Australia. The new distributor, SRS Agencies (follow on Instagram: @Lapierre.Australia), arranged for a review of a beautiful purple Xelius SL frameset (which comes complete with proprietary handlebars and stem, seatpost, fork and neat Di2 batter housing, plus a few neat extra tools).
Fitted with the new-generation 12-speed Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset, the bike - complete with Shimano Ultegra pedals and sealant in the 32mm tubeless Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres - weighs in at exactly 8.00kg.
This is part 2 of what will be an ongoing series of Lapierre reviews.
Next: comments from my first ride.

That's a gorgeous bike and a beautiful job wrapping the bars.
appreciate the build video wondering how much the frame weight since i only see the fork
Hi and thanks for the great video! Incredible how little actual content/review/information there actually is regarding both the Xelius and the Aircode. Are you still happy with your sizing? I'm 1.83 and I am also trying to decide which way to go without being able to test ride. I'm currently on a Basso Diamante, so I'm kind of used to long and low, but these Lapierres are a bit next level. Additionally, do you know if the frames have a cable stop for the front derailleur? I am planning to build the bike with Campy SR mechanical. Shimano Front derailleurs have an integrated cable (housing) stop, the campy ones don't... Thanks!
Hi, having a prorace sat mtb which I think has the same trap door tech as they call it. Is it just a matter of getting both screws full out to remove? Asking with the plan to internally route a dropper cable.
Thx!
What lube did you use pressing in the BB? Or mostly dry? Tks
time 6:17 - can i buy this tool? or name of this tool, thank you
Please.. what part no. battery holder is? thank you.. (if i change from mechanical to Di2 group set) thank you...
I have a Lapierre Aircode and just ordered an new 2023 Xelius 10.0 frame. The battery holder is already in the frame whether you buy a bike with mechanical shifting or not.
SRAM -> Ultegra = No more unexpected front derailleur chain drops onto the bottom bracket = Yeah!!
Come si fa a tirare il pacco pignoni a 40 nm senza ausilio della frusta ???? Non ho parole!!
Hi, I’m looking to buy this bike but I’m in doubt of which size I would buy. I’m 179cm which puts me right in between a M and a L. Based on the stem length I assume yours is a L? I can only test the L in the bike shop 😞 Would you size up or down based on your experience with this bike?
I’m 5mm shorter than you.
This is a medium.
There are other measurements to consider but my belief is that a large would be too big.
As is, I rode a relatively short stem and had just the right amount of post … I’d not have wanted large.
- Rob
@@ride-media Hi Rob, managed to test ride both sizes after all (My bike store had an M shipped over for me to test because they where also had doubt about the size) Although I would be able to ride both the M was in my opinion the better size so I ordered that one 😉 I may eventually have to get a longer stem put on it but first I'll have to ride some miles. Thanks for the advice!
@@ride-media Please update the title / description to include the information about the size, for others looking into this bike. It's hardly mentioned in the video.... Seeing 8kgs on the scale I assumed this would be size Large.
@@bzikofski- no.
The the cheaper Trek get ditched for the fancy bike 🤔
Nothing is "ditched". The Trek is still here. It will be used in a compare-and-contrast session with this bike... so don't be like that mate...!

Nice bike but such a Faff to build. Being old school one would hope nothing ever goes wrong with it. A roadside fix just about impossible.
Jesus. That sounds like a very out of spec bottom bracket.
Yep, tight as could be... but not even a hint of any noise while riding. And, by my reckoning, just about bloody perfect.
- Rob
@@ride-media Wouldn't anticipate noise with an undersized bb. What I would expect is premature bearing wear after a few thousand km's. I know a certain french 5 year old who would agree.
Do you put a spacer between the crank and the bottom bracket. Min is touching de bike
