    This is marvellous stuff Dave - you should be rightly proud - your ability to tie the layout together with scenery and trackside detail is unsurpassed. Thanks for your dedication - it's inspirational.

      Hi, thanks very very much for that great compliment. I do like the add scenic stuff to make it more 'real'. So glad you enjoy it and find it inspirational. That is very kind of you. Dave

    Finally made it through your back catalogue of videos... All I can say is wow your attention to detail is amazing if I can manage half the detail on my more modest layout I'll be very content...

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for not falling asleep half way through them! lol. Yeah I like the little details! Its what turns a train set into a model railway layout. Cheers and thanks for your support. Dave

    @CherrhamJunction Před 6 lety

    Great update as always. The training yard is a such a good idea, one that I'm sure isnt modelled very often! The use of different gravels and turfs work very well in the area. And I look forward to seeing how the rest progresses!

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety

      Hi cheers, yeah I am really chuffed with how its all coming together. Its a lot of planning, detail and effort for such a small area, but I think it has been worth it. Dave

  • @daviemaclean61
    @daviemaclean61 Před 6 lety

    The red gravel looks really natural (I know it is, but you know what I mean) with the different tones and hues within it. Liking the idea of the slightly raised area at the east end adjacent to the training facility - I had always assumed that was going to be level with the tracks - so more interest there. Great update and some good progress. Cheers

    Hi Dave I have been watching your video site for some months now and it never fails to impress me it is one of the best layouts I have seen and very life like I am going to be starting a layout in the next few weeks when the weather warms up because it's to cold to go in the garage to cut up wood at the moment because the better half does not want sawdust all over the house. of coarse I don't have as much room as you have so it won't be anywhere as big as yours probably about 8ft by 6ft in an L shape anyway I won't bore you anymore but I will keep watching your channel cheers George

      DaveClass47. Oops! Not good.. to make it better I've taken Thursday Friday of work to finish off building my track deck.. unfortunately "the beast from the east" it's for some reason known as has decided to stuff those plans up and dump a load of snow on us! So looks like I won't be shredding ply in the garden again 😣.. bloody weather

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety

      yes the last stand of winter 2017/18 is approaching! It will get mighty cold up the loft too I would expect. Will have to prepare work to do downstairs. as you say....bloody weather! lol

    Dave, really enjoy watching your updates and finding out what you are up to next.
    I'm modelling in n gauge and you have inspired me to start capturing progress of my layout on CZcams. I hope I get to see my layout evolve as well as yours has. Also apologies in advance as I steal some of your great ideas. Keep up the good work, Richard.

      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety

      Hi, thanks for getting in touch and good luck with your layout. No need to apologise for stealing....that's why I upload videos, to give other modellers some ideas....a lot of my ideas are adapted from elsewhere! Cheers. Dave

    • @dougparkjunction
      @dougparkjunction Před 6 lety +1

      DaveClass47, cheers Dave. I'm in the process of doing the scalescenes canopy, which you started with. It's hard enough in n gauge and I'm only going to be doing 4 sections. Now gives me an understanding of the effort you have put in for the whole of your layout. I can imagine modelling the canopy in 00 took a lot of patients and time. Alot of respect to you. Cheers Richard.

      It was a big job, as was modelling over 7 metres of platform and 5 metres of retaining wall...by the end of it I was fed up with card, spray glue, pritt stick and Stanley knife blades!! lol

    Nice one Dave. That fence reminds me of the many times I've looked at something and thought "oh thats easy". Looks like its best installed on a bare baseboard first. Not ideal though as its makes for harder scenery work later. Also enjoyed the shot from 16:09 as it shows just how much depth you've managed to get from the layout. Cheers

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety

      Hi, cheers. Yes the fence is time consuming. I might take it out for doing scenic work and put small cocktail sticks in the holes so I can find them....but they are not tall so I should be able to get the static grass applicator pretty close to the baseboard without fouling the fencing. Yeah its amazing how much depth and perspective can be achieved just by the camera shot. I love the low down shooting positions. Cheers. Dave

    Can I just say? I'm not into this scene, but I adore your videos and am always delighted to see the notifications for your updates. I always share when you update on my Twitter and my point on there is - you don't need to be into this kinda thing to appreciate just watching someone build something up, and the work involved.
    You're honestly one of my favourite 'CZcamsrs', and I follow folk like Pewdiepie. Keep up the enchanting work.

    Coming on in leaps and bounds. Excellent work there Dave. I really like your small under scenery work station. Hind sight is a wonderful thing I knew but it's a shame that you didn't make the raised section a little higher and you could have used the underneath space for storing tools, materials etc. Anyway a great idea. All Best Dave.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety

      Hi, I toyed with the idea of making it higher, but always intended it to be lower so I could still see the trains a bit as they went around. It also stops the layout looking too uniformed in heights. I may emply a similar storage area at the other end where the height will be greater. I also plan to buy a cheap small table to put up the loft to use as a work area.....this could be pushed under the layout when not in use. Thats more £ for another day though! ;-) Dave

      Hi yes I am doing a lot of different areas, as I wait on parts to become available for me and made for me I have to move on to other tasks to keep the layout progressing. Before I know it I'll be like Bachmann.....with 100 jobs on the go and no progress being made on any of them! lol. Dave

  • @NewcastleCentralOOGauge

    Good progress. Sounds a wee bit perverse, but I really liked the shots around 10:30 - shows that there's still a lot more to come! Good idea with the little slide-out workbench on the east end of the layout where you're starting to build up that area. Gives you little extra space up there. Iain

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety

      Hi Iain, thanks. Yeah the slide out bench is ok.....not as big an area as I need but it will do for wee jobs! Cheers. Dave

  • @recycledmodelrailways8655

    Dave can i just ask where you got the paving from around the teaching centre. Thats probably the most realistic stuff i have seen. Really dont like the metcalfe stick and go as it looks all wrong. Brilliant update as always and love your attention to detail.

  • @scottishsteamproductions2014

    How do I prevent my ballast from going a different shade when I ballast it as I want mine to stay a nice light grey but they always go into a dull dark colour
    Help?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi there is a limit to what you can do to prevent that. Using PVA/Water mix can darken it slightly. Have you tried using Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement? If use that for some gravel and scenic work. Its good and gives a good bond. Also there is a Deluxe materials product called 'Ballast Bond'. I havent used that but might be worth a try to prevent the ballast dulling down?
