That rabbit hole of old boats. Did the same thing last year, wasn't looking to buy a boat and then 3 hours later was towing a boat home. Was just going to clean it up and use it, turned into a full bare hull rebuild and new motor. Put the new camper build on hold but glad I spent the time and money on the boat to know we have the reliability and longevity.
Hi Cam, boating is enjoyable but do it in moderation for the family's sake. As to the trailer, bite the bullet and invest in a new trailer from Polmac which are located down OConnor way. Very well made and very reliable. Having bought and renovated eight boats in the past ten years, I can say it is very satisfying and very demanding at the same time. Hope you don't have to many arguments about the boat though. Don't hesitate to ask me for any advice though.
Don’t go mental fixing it up. Just get the electrics tidied up and make it comfortable for Tiff and the kids. It’s a tinny after all. Boats are only good when they’re on the water.
Hi Cam I’m the old fart you recommended mozfog to at the camping show Ordered but still untested Great news about the boat, now I’m really keen to see what you do with the boat The 75hp is fine with that boat, you will find the ride a little ordinary in lump seas, so you won’t need the go fast horse power I built my Ali boat and trailer myself, have owned boats all my life and have done thousands of kilometres of corrugations I recommend you cut all the sections out of aluminium and get someone to weld it up for you. Not only will it not rust, you can add items, drill holes etc but most of all if you can get the axle load under 750kg you won’t need brakes this removes that head ache order the runnning gear from trailer parts as far as the boat goes, get it raptor coated above the chine, this stuff does not bubble and peel, especially around the rod holders had mine done four years ago and still looks like new named mine "rag doll" as thats what you become when i'm at the helm😀 good luck with your adventures even if Tiff gives you the hairy eye ball

Have owned many boats myself , from tinnies , to big runabouts, V8 ski boat , which my son now has along with my last big runabout, now retired , can’t afford to own one , good luck buddy, my advice , do it up and have fun while you can afford it , name it Tiffany ! Do it, go for it. My father was a bit of a handyman and when he couldn't book a shack at his favourite Coffin Bay he decided to build a caravan from scratch, never used a welder in his life but he gave it a go, only 6 weeks to his annual leave and he had the van finished enough to suffice. Trust yourself and do it.
You are bringing back all our years of boating memories having owned boats before caravans , spending hours on the Swan and trips to Rotto , Carnac Is etc and used for scuba diving .
Tiff is a diamond. (See what I did there?) Ultimately cool about the boat project and packing the van while you're filming. Anyone who owns a van knows how tedious the washing basket trips to load it can become. Looking forward to seeing how the project develops.
I have had boats for over 20 years...Bring On Another Thousand is so true...its hard to stop as there is always something to fix, replace, upgrade etc... As long as you don't have huge rust holes in the trailer just make sure the springs and bearings are ok or at least buy a spare set if you go north. You don't need bigger rims and tyres it just makes it harder to launch. If there are a lot of corrigations it may pay to weld in a keel roller support to take the boats weight. I could go on and on but you will work it out. Just don't go down the rabbit hole!
Totally watch the boat rebuild process. I’m not a boatie’ but your approach just seems to be down to earth, relaxed and entertaining. Is this a gateway boat to the next bigger ship?

Yep I’m a keen boater myself, I would definitely find it of interest. Not being able to tow a boat & van is my dilemma also 😂 Suggest you spend some time on it and figure out if it’s the hull you want long term before investing big, electronics are transferable but that’s about it. There are heaps of good road trips from Perth through to kalbarri for good fishing that a roadworthy trailer is fine for
Yeah definitely show it imo. I was just watching a video yesterday of a guy in the US who buys motors/boats, fixes or restores them and then sells them on. Not sure why I like those sorts of videos as I'm not really into boats although my brother is. Wouldn't take much to set it up as a de facto caravan/camping setup as well so that you can sleep in it whilst travelling or camping on the water. Keeping the weight down with a smaller motor would be key I would have thought. No doubt there are heaps of your subscribers who will have plenty of tips and tricks to make it all a bit easier. If it was me I would probably save up and put a solid dual axle trailer under it as it will make it safer and more practical but the cost may be prohibitive.
Cam get on it! I managed to licence and dinghy and trailer bought in impulse, it’s not too bad! Even if you don’t film the restoration you have to show us updates!

Having done a trailer build with an experienced Welder I can tell you it's a lot of work. Just keeping it all square is a task as it twists out of square as the welds heat. Drop the boat off onto tyres, wood chocks etc so you can access the trailer better. Depending on how bad it is will direct your next steps. Maybe it just needs a clean, rust treatment and a bit of rust proof paint. Anyway good luck. Less is probably best to start with.

I was told recently it had changed and might not be so easy to register. It’s a good size tinny mate and if you want some off shore spots on a good day 30-40km off the coast of Perth. Let me know I’ll hook you up some co-ordinates.
I enjoy your channel for the camping stuff and watch other channels for fishing (boating). Happy for you to do boating vids but as I always do, I'll pick and choose what I watch.
If you're doing the Xmas lights my best advice is do it the first two weeks of December. After that it becomes insanely busy and isn't enjoyable for the skipper
"Tiffs Wild Side" Deep down she loves it. Its all an act!!! 😂😂😂 First thing id be doing is checking the durability of the transom and ensuring theres no issues. My boat was fantastic and served its purpose, however, always had my hand in my pocket. When i sold it, little did i know there was a crack in the transom under the clamps holding the outboard and the new owner was pissed, obviously. Thats my 2c
Call the boat “wild touring “ to maintain your brand. See if the fabrication mob that built your canopy will help you out with the trailer and boat? I would watch your boat build vids. Good luck
