Little tip on grooming the face I find useful- leave the hair under the chin till last and while grooming the face you can hold it like a handle to keep them still (this doesn’t hurt the dog, just keeps them still)

Love the video! I think that you did pretty well for not being a formally trained dog groomer. Grooming your own dog saves so much money and you get that piece of mind that your dog is being treated well.

Looking at Finn's coat I can tell how easy it will be for him to get matted his coat is like cotton wool 😍 I've found dogs with that sort of coat matt no matter what lol just constant brushing or keeping them short helps I've yet to find another solution.
Lucius Maximus EXACTLY. That’s the truth. Honestly I wish I could keep him long but his comfort is priority 🙃
@@RachelFusaro makes me happy when someone choses comfort for the dog over how they want the dog to look 😍 I've known people to want a fully matted dog left long and told them no because dematting is painful and better to go short. You're a great dog mom!

I'm so sorry to those of you who can't find a trustworthy groomer! As a professional mobile groomer, I have seen some terrible ones around so I understand the worry, but I swear there are some of us around that really do care and treat the pets that we groom with love! All my clients are family to me 💕

I do the same thing at home and I suggest brushing while blow drying so you have a fluffy puppy and the hair is much even when the hair is cut

I have a mini golden doodle and even with me brushing him 4 times a week mats just appear everywhere! This is super helpful and I really appreciate it
I have a mini golden too. I use a poodle comb (metal) and he doesn’t have trouble with mats. Just FYI

You did a better job than my groomer. Thanks for showing me what to do.
what I normally do is go with the coat on the short guard (the 2 or whichever one you were using) and then go atleast two guards up (the comb attachments) and reverse it to make it more even. 👍

@@RachelFusaro yep in a longer comb attachment 😁 if you reverse in the same length it goes shorter
Hi Rachel, do you do Fins face completely with the clippers? I don't like using scissors around my 110 pd goldendoodle's mouth and eyes and would to learn how to trim his face without them.

Get a breakaway attachment for the table arm. They are really inexpensive, and completely remove chance of injury.

I have a question about how long you should keep a Goldendoodles coat for cold and hot weather. I was told to never clip them short in summer because their long fur keeps them cool. that shaving them in summer is really bad. is there any truth to this?

Wow you did great on him. I do the same with my mini American shepherd (longest guard) and yeah it’s so much harder that it looks lol his first time he looked sooooo silly but we have come a long way since then. I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to completely groom him myself but for now we do 2-3 full grooms a year then I just pop into the vet for nail trims every once in a while

Hi Rachel! My 9 month old golden doodle just learned how to down, and now every time I ask her to do sit, she does down. She gets confused and still knows what sit is, but is hesitant. What should I do?

Be careful with products advertised as natural still contain fragrance, which can cause skin irritations and allergies especially after repeated use! natural (essential oil or chemically manufactured fragrance are both bad for human and dog/cat skin.) I bought a natural tick and flea spray with essential oils and am feeling conflicted about it because of this, but wanna make sure my pup is protected. but natural does not always mean good, the high concentration of fragrance when you think about it it does make sense. Do you have any opinions on this? I would love to hear!
