    i worked at the biggest engine rebuilding plant in north america. he had a couple of engine cleaning booth. they worked like this:
    -rotating sprayer like a dishwasher spinning inside
    -boiling and steaming water inside the cabinet for about 1hour
    -we added what looked like either dishwashing or clothes washing powder inside
    -the engine part were on a stainless rack that would rotate inside

    Love the idea. Nice job! I think I need to do this. One suggestion...use water tight switches installed INSIDE the cabinet to actuate solenoid valves to change from one operation to the next. No need to remove your hands from the gloves over and over.

    • @SuperbikeSurgeryTV
      @SuperbikeSurgeryTV  Před 2 lety +1

      You are not the first person to suggest this! Personally don't think it's such a great idea. It's such a harsh environment inside the cabinet even the best quality switches wouldn't last with the heat and high pressure. I'm already on my second set of high quality billet aluminium waterproof lights!

    • @steventimme5268
      @steventimme5268 Před 2 lety +2

      @@SuperbikeSurgeryTV True watertight switches aren't connected directly to the switch. It's just a mechanical linkage with a rubber seal connected to a remote switch. Even if it did leak, the liquid wouldn't harm anything. I can send a drawing if you're interested.

    have you tried, after cleaning it all up, use stainless ball media to peen the surface?
    the idea is that, that exhaust side in particular looked quite porous (due to surface corrosion of aluminium), and glass bead at best just cleans it up, but stainless might be heavy enough to level it out, make it smoother, less prone to catching dirt and corroding?

      LOL, you're on a whole new level! I really enjoyed your video Jim, truly amazing work! Like many others, I was hoping you were going to put together a series of videos detailing the construction and setup of this unit, along with plans and a detailed parts list.
      Of course, available for a price, I believe today more then even a few years ago, there would be a huge market for it, from nirmal DIY individuals to many businesses that would purchase the total DIY, videos, plans, and parts list package, or even as a complete unassembled kit.
      Sadly, for me, it looks like you won't have it available in my lifetime. Being in my 70s, I often forget my clock is winding down. I'm also trying to finish the restoration of my 1965 GTO so I can leave it to my grandson once I'm gone. I'll keep checking back to see if things change. If you are keeping a list of interested parties that would like to purchase the plans, please add me to the list.
