Every time I tell myself that if I don’t like something I’ll ask the hairdresser to change it, and every single time, when the moment comes, I can’t bring myself to do it. I’m usually not afraid of confrontation but there’s something about hair appts that make me incapable of standing up for myself.

Aw man, as a cosmetologist who works in product sales and education, i have a LOT of thoughts about this. -These videos arent a demonstration of free services, they're an ad. Taylor is essentially a MODEL, not a client. -WHY THE HELL are we flying people out for extensions? That's an extremely expensive and high maintenance service . It's irresponsible to set someone up for a commitment like that when they aren't in a position to go in for maintenance appointments. -Alfedo's response was so unprofessional. Clients change their minds, sometimes they don't feel comfortable expressing disappointment in the chair. -the salon and brands needed to do a much better job of managing expectations, instead of promising to give someone their dream hair when it might not be realistic due to the level of damage she had. - k18 is AMAZING. It's been a game changer for me as a stylist. But it is not magic. Sometimes the hair is too far gone, and that will severely limit your options with color.

Yeah, half the point of going to the hairdresser is that it’s like going to therapy. If your therapist isn’t allowed to dish about you identifiably (never mind on social media), then any hairdresser who wants any sort of customer loyalty shouldn’t dish on their clients identifiably, either. Alfredo’s therapy license should get suspended by the state of California for violating HIPAA… except that he’s not a therapist, and the only thing that really matters with a hairdresser license is not physically injuring your clients, which he hasn’t done here.

@dotcom3015 you're probably right, but I haven't been burned yet. The only exception was when my mom tried to give me blonde highlights at home after 5th grade "graduation." Everything that could have gone wrong did: we ran out of dye (and no she didn't get anyore), it turned orange instead of blonde, and it just so happened that the way she dyed it, all the orange formed one solid block of color when I put my hair in a ponytail. Ended up getting it fixed by a professional and it was okay, but that taught me a lesson about bleaching at home

Putting extensions on hair that damaged will only lead to further breakage, any honest hair stylist would advise her to not add them. They are also very expensive to upkeep so if she didn't have the money to fix her hair, she couldn't realistically maintain them.
This is exactly why they didn't do anymore extensions. She's been told by other stylists not just Alfredo & his team of what to do & not to do. She refused to listen or wait and put her audience above professionals guidance.

As a Sephora employee, I get a fuck ton of free K18 and I've experienced off putting brand reps. They really didn't have to do this because their shit WORKS. Its going to affect more than just their bottom line. I do think her hair looks patchy and the whole situation is so weird. I can't imagine being put in the position of being part of what was essentially an ad and not feeling like you could speak up in the moment.
Brand reps gravitate towards me because I have blue money pieces and had long hair (recently chopped it past my chin) so I look like a good "poster child". I do my own hair because I'm neurodivergent and I've had bad experiences at the salon.

That is not a haircut and style worth flying out to California for. With engagement numbers like that, they should've given her whatever she wanted, but they wasted all those views and her time on hair she could've gotten done better locally. So many mediocre hairdressers will talk shit people who do their hair at home when in reality after a short period of trial and error I was able to very quickly learn to bleach and color my hair at home AND got better results than the local salon artists in my area who wasted my money and fried my hair.

That's why I appreciate the hairdresser I go to once in awhile. He doesn't do fancy colors (only naturals) and he really liked the way I colored it on my own. I only have him cut my hair, since it's not exactly smth I can do well on my own 😂.
When I was 16 I decided I wanted to bleach my virgin light brown hair, but since I had no experience I went to a salon that I thought I could trust since they already cut my hair multiple times. It was really expensive but I've been saving for it for a year. The hairstylist ONLY bleached my hair and let it stay for 2 hours and then sent me home with YELLOW hair. So she never put anything else on my hair besides bleach. I was already severely bullied at school but after bullies saw my bright yellow hair they did it even more. Even my family called me a taxi lol. I was wondering why I couldn't brush my hair at all and it became really matted every single day, but since I thought my hairstylist was a professional I thought it was normal. I dyed my hair brown 2 weeks after that. Only a couple of years ago (when I decided to bleach it at home) I realized that she fooled me, destroyed my hair and my scalp (my scalp had red scabs all over and it was peeling) and just took my money because I was a kid. My hair and scalp never completely recovered after that. I'm 27 now and I've had blonde hair (not yellow) for years now and it's pretty healthy and I can actually brush it, even though I do everything at home. I still don't understand how a professional hairstylist could fry my hair and scalp for hours with just bleach and basically scam a kid. There's no way she didn't know.

I think inherently flying someone out for free, "saving their hair", filming them, etc etc. they are under a lot of pressure to be basically a promotional actor. Whether for gratitude or anxiety, theres a lot of reasons someone might go along with the experts in the moment, and feel regret later. I can see why she didnt speak up during the videos, because they dont leave room for her to speak, she is essentially a prop for their video. They aren't explaining it to her, they're explaining it to the audience. I have super bad social anxiety, and i have to cut my own hair because all barbers ive been to just freestyle and loosely follow my instructions or reference pictures. It's this feeling of "maybe once its done it'll look better" as you see them cutting off way too much, but it never does. Though i think it's probably more layered with long hair, because the expensive hair products they use arent going to be given in a little doggy bag, right? Maintaining a specific look takes time and product, and curls or volume can change the length of hair. So even if it looks good in the salon, how can you know if in a week it'll have the same qualities? In general, i think people are allowed to be unhappy with the results of something after going along with it.

It's so true that just because you get something for free, it doesn't mean you have to be grateful. I remember reading that after the Haiti earthquake there were massive clothing drives, and they were inundated with western clothing, instead of helping, this decimated the local clothing industry (which was one of the only flourishing industries at that time) as no one wanted or needed the local clothes, and this just increased the desire for western clothing imports, and did more harm than good. If you're giving someone something for free but not asking or respecting their preference, then that's not really 'giving' something out of kindness. Taylor is pretty young and probably doesn't realize that they were getting more out of this than she was. And it's okay if they didn't want to use the extensions, but they made it sound like that was what she wanted, instead of explaining why they couldn't do it, so I can see why she felt like they didn't listen to her in hindsight, even if they felt like they explained it because it seems like they told her and didn't ask or engage with her about it, because it was 'free' and they could call the shots.

I feel so bad.. I know how it feels to hate your hair after it gets done. And once it’s brown, it takes soooo many bleaching sessions to get it back to the blonde or lighter colour you want. I’ve also had the experience of sitting in the chair hating the outcome, while saying “I love it so much” while I’m dying inside

Okay, K18 is a good product, but it's not a miracle product. It's something you use consistently for results, not just once. I've been using it for a few years, as olaplex lasted for one treatment on my thick hair and I couldn't justify spending $50 AUD per treatment. K18 lasts for ages as it's just 3-5 pumps in my hair so I can justify $80 AUD every 6 months It also will not repair split ends or bleach damaged hair, nothing can repair hair because it's fucking dead. I just know that my hair is better off when I use it consistently and it was waaaaay better than olaplex. It's similar to a protein treatment in the sense of how it helps my curl pattern more defined.
as a hairstylist, I feel like the highlights are the main issue, besides the obvious difference in the extensions length. they're pretty big and awkwardly placed, I feel like if they added highlights at all, they should have been small and blended if they wanted it to look more natural and less... awkward? the brown would look completely fine without highlights, too. her photos even show medium to small highlights with a money piece, idk why they made it look like that. i feel like the take away from this is..... it shouldn't be considered impolite to say when you don't like something. we are so conditioned to just "be polite", but if we say in the moment what we actually would like then this all could have been avoided. i feel like this happens a lot, people just being polite and then are left disappointed, and the person who hears the "oh i love it" doesn't think beyond that. Saying "i don't like this, i would prefer...." should NOT be considered impolite!

I feel like it's pretty common for people to be so stunned and pressured in the moment that they tell the stylist/barber they like it when they don't. It's also common to notice the patchiness after someone else points it out, especially in a part of your hair that you might not see right away.

Shade is - Alfredo used to work for them n he left them with some drama behind the scenes. Another hair dresser made a video saying Alfredo is kinda not a good person and does questionable hair work
I mean, she didn't say that she found her hair bad, she just said she didn't like the length, because she especially told Alfredo she wants her hair longer and that she was upset with the service since Alfredo didn't really talk with her and clearly just did it for the money he got. Yeah, like him saying "I would've flown her out but NOT NOW" as if she's wronged him by simply wanting her hair to be different than it is? She isn't slandering him or the business, she is saying she had a different idea of what her hair was going to be. He's taking it personally when he could've salvaged it even now, but I think this response will damage his brand, because he has shown that he can't accept criticism or communicate with his clients. Because she shouldn't have to remind them she wants long hair, they should ask about the length and reiterate before they start filming. It's not her job to start the conversation on what you're doing to her hair, you should ask.

For anyone with anxiety about getting their hair done, I highly recommend finding pictures on exactly what you want. It clears up any miscommunication between you and the stylist since you both have the same end product in mind.
he put tape in extensions in for volume… tape in are the worst for damaged hair. she never mentioned wanting volume just length. If that was the reason why not say it’s too damaged for long hair instead of “we love the length”
K-tip extensions are light weight and work great for weaker hair, so i hope she gets those instead. They prolli used tape ins because bellami paid them to promote that product. There aren't many k-tip extension brands sponsoring tiktokers. I dont think she even needed extensions added if they were keeping her hair short because her hair was already a great density. It looks like a wig now. The color is great tho and k18 did wonders on her hair.

Even without the cameras and as a paying customer, when in front of another person, I know I’d at least be too uncomfortable and heightened in the moment to even process how it looks until I’m home, alone, calmed down, and have seen how it looks after a wash / in a more typical (relaxed) daily style. I've had a colourist walk me out into the middle of the street outside just to get me into the sunlight to "show me its what [I] wanted". The amount of subtle bullying to say you like it at salons is actually fucking insane.
The thing that makes Alfredo seem less genuine to me is that he never tries to resolve it. He never says, "hey taylor, i heard that you are not happy with youe hair and i want to make it right." He could have hooked her up with a k18 rep in her area and paid for her to get what she wanted. And in the future, he should video the consult if he wants to use that as his receipts. Putting systems in place would prevent or resolve this issue.... unless the drama is what he really wanted for views
I do not hate the actual result at the end but I will say that it does not look worth whatever price he would have charged if it was not free, and the fact he was getting paid so much by brands to do this she should have gotten something way nicer. I think there should have been more discussion with her at a low stake enviroment without filming and lights before hand. And the fact the hairdresser does not understand that most people have a fear of telling the hairdresser that you don't like your haircut is ridiculous. Especially as she was beig filmed the whole time and the fact that the whole thing was framed as a gift to her. Of course she would have guilt expressing her real opinion.
I always tell my hairdresser that I love my haircut because my hair always looks like shit directly after being cut, but looks great a few hours later. My hair’s pretty curly, but straightens as it gets longer and weighs itself down. So it looks really flat when it’s first cut, but then curls up all cute and I love when it looks like that :] Plus my hairdresser is lovely. Thanks Paul, love you, you’re great!
1/4th through the video but I saw one of the stylists' vids before and people in comments were so mad cause the customer he did requested a certain style and color and they completely disregarded her and said she didn't know what looked good on her, so they did their own thing. She looked so upset. This is such a sad situation. She wanted a different hair colour to minimize the Kylie Jenner comparisons but yet, Alfredo completely calls her a Kylie look-alike. She also wanted long hair with extensions because she loves long hair, so why would he cut her hair back into the same bob length?

I have disliked a haircut maybe 20% of the time but have said “I love it thank you” 100% of the time.
Every time I tell myself that if I don’t like something I’ll ask the hairdresser to change it, and every single time, when the moment comes, I can’t bring myself to do it. I’m usually not afraid of confrontation but there’s something about hair appts that make me incapable of standing up for myself.
@nola1439 this is so real. My mom has gotten irate at so many hair dressers (I have very curly hair with SERIOUS shrinkage) that have fucked up my hair that we are terrified of going to a salon for it bc it ALMOST ALWAYS ends up with inches being/needing to be cut afterwards.

-These videos arent a demonstration of free services, they're an ad. Taylor is essentially a MODEL, not a client.
-WHY THE HELL are we flying people out for extensions? That's an extremely expensive and high maintenance service . It's irresponsible to set someone up for a commitment like that when they aren't in a position to go in for maintenance appointments.
-Alfedo's response was so unprofessional. Clients change their minds, sometimes they don't feel comfortable expressing disappointment in the chair.
-the salon and brands needed to do a much better job of managing expectations, instead of promising to give someone their dream hair when it might not be realistic due to the level of damage she had.
- k18 is AMAZING. It's been a game changer for me as a stylist. But it is not magic. Sometimes the hair is too far gone, and that will severely limit your options with color.

Yeah, half the point of going to the hairdresser is that it’s like going to therapy. If your therapist isn’t allowed to dish about you identifiably (never mind on social media), then any hairdresser who wants any sort of customer loyalty shouldn’t dish on their clients identifiably, either.
Alfredo’s therapy license should get suspended by the state of California for violating HIPAA… except that he’s not a therapist, and the only thing that really matters with a hairdresser license is not physically injuring your clients, which he hasn’t done here.

@dotcom3015 you're probably right, but I haven't been burned yet. The only exception was when my mom tried to give me blonde highlights at home after 5th grade "graduation." Everything that could have gone wrong did: we ran out of dye (and no she didn't get anyore), it turned orange instead of blonde, and it just so happened that the way she dyed it, all the orange formed one solid block of color when I put my hair in a ponytail. Ended up getting it fixed by a professional and it was okay, but that taught me a lesson about bleaching at home
one time i did exactly this and started crying about it at home, my mom grabbed me and took me to the hair salon again for him to fix it 😅 thank god for her

Putting extensions on hair that damaged will only lead to further breakage, any honest hair stylist would advise her to not add them. They are also very expensive to upkeep so if she didn't have the money to fix her hair, she couldn't realistically maintain them.
This is exactly why they didn't do anymore extensions. She's been told by other stylists not just Alfredo & his team of what to do & not to do. She refused to listen or wait and put her audience above professionals guidance.
I was appalled that she was given extensions in the first place. Setting her up for failure.

As a Sephora employee, I get a fuck ton of free K18 and I've experienced off putting brand reps. They really didn't have to do this because their shit WORKS. Its going to affect more than just their bottom line. I do think her hair looks patchy and the whole situation is so weird. I can't imagine being put in the position of being part of what was essentially an ad and not feeling like you could speak up in the moment.
Brand reps gravitate towards me because I have blue money pieces and had long hair (recently chopped it past my chin) so I look like a good "poster child". I do my own hair because I'm neurodivergent and I've had bad experiences at the salon.

So many mediocre hairdressers will talk shit people who do their hair at home when in reality after a short period of trial and error I was able to very quickly learn to bleach and color my hair at home AND got better results than the local salon artists in my area who wasted my money and fried my hair.

That's why I appreciate the hairdresser I go to once in awhile. He doesn't do fancy colors (only naturals) and he really liked the way I colored it on my own. I only have him cut my hair, since it's not exactly smth I can do well on my own 😂.
When I was 16 I decided I wanted to bleach my virgin light brown hair, but since I had no experience I went to a salon that I thought I could trust since they already cut my hair multiple times. It was really expensive but I've been saving for it for a year. The hairstylist ONLY bleached my hair and let it stay for 2 hours and then sent me home with YELLOW hair. So she never put anything else on my hair besides bleach. I was already severely bullied at school but after bullies saw my bright yellow hair they did it even more. Even my family called me a taxi lol.
I was wondering why I couldn't brush my hair at all and it became really matted every single day, but since I thought my hairstylist was a professional I thought it was normal. I dyed my hair brown 2 weeks after that. Only a couple of years ago (when I decided to bleach it at home) I realized that she fooled me, destroyed my hair and my scalp (my scalp had red scabs all over and it was peeling) and just took my money because I was a kid. My hair and scalp never completely recovered after that.
I'm 27 now and I've had blonde hair (not yellow) for years now and it's pretty healthy and I can actually brush it, even though I do everything at home.
I still don't understand how a professional hairstylist could fry my hair and scalp for hours with just bleach and basically scam a kid. There's no way she didn't know.

I think inherently flying someone out for free, "saving their hair", filming them, etc etc. they are under a lot of pressure to be basically a promotional actor. Whether for gratitude or anxiety, theres a lot of reasons someone might go along with the experts in the moment, and feel regret later. I can see why she didnt speak up during the videos, because they dont leave room for her to speak, she is essentially a prop for their video. They aren't explaining it to her, they're explaining it to the audience. I have super bad social anxiety, and i have to cut my own hair because all barbers ive been to just freestyle and loosely follow my instructions or reference pictures. It's this feeling of "maybe once its done it'll look better" as you see them cutting off way too much, but it never does.
Though i think it's probably more layered with long hair, because the expensive hair products they use arent going to be given in a little doggy bag, right? Maintaining a specific look takes time and product, and curls or volume can change the length of hair. So even if it looks good in the salon, how can you know if in a week it'll have the same qualities? In general, i think people are allowed to be unhappy with the results of something after going along with it.

It's so true that just because you get something for free, it doesn't mean you have to be grateful. I remember reading that after the Haiti earthquake there were massive clothing drives, and they were inundated with western clothing, instead of helping, this decimated the local clothing industry (which was one of the only flourishing industries at that time) as no one wanted or needed the local clothes, and this just increased the desire for western clothing imports, and did more harm than good. If you're giving someone something for free but not asking or respecting their preference, then that's not really 'giving' something out of kindness.
Taylor is pretty young and probably doesn't realize that they were getting more out of this than she was. And it's okay if they didn't want to use the extensions, but they made it sound like that was what she wanted, instead of explaining why they couldn't do it, so I can see why she felt like they didn't listen to her in hindsight, even if they felt like they explained it because it seems like they told her and didn't ask or engage with her about it, because it was 'free' and they could call the shots.

Okay, K18 is a good product, but it's not a miracle product. It's something you use consistently for results, not just once. I've been using it for a few years, as olaplex lasted for one treatment on my thick hair and I couldn't justify spending $50 AUD per treatment. K18 lasts for ages as it's just 3-5 pumps in my hair so I can justify $80 AUD every 6 months
It also will not repair split ends or bleach damaged hair, nothing can repair hair because it's fucking dead. I just know that my hair is better off when I use it consistently and it was waaaaay better than olaplex. It's similar to a protein treatment in the sense of how it helps my curl pattern more defined.

as a hairstylist, I feel like the highlights are the main issue, besides the obvious difference in the extensions length. they're pretty big and awkwardly placed, I feel like if they added highlights at all, they should have been small and blended if they wanted it to look more natural and less... awkward? the brown would look completely fine without highlights, too. her photos even show medium to small highlights with a money piece, idk why they made it look like that. I feel bad for her. I saw better highlights in cosmetology school😭😭 his behavior is so unprofessional

i feel like the take away from this is..... it shouldn't be considered impolite to say when you don't like something. we are so conditioned to just "be polite", but if we say in the moment what we actually would like then this all could have been avoided. i feel like this happens a lot, people just being polite and then are left disappointed, and the person who hears the "oh i love it" doesn't think beyond that. Saying "i don't like this, i would prefer...." should NOT be considered impolite!
He said he wouldn't cut her hair in his video, so clearly he's a lair. Also does he not know what a highlight is? It's not applied correctly at the top. You can see where it's streaky at the top. I could spend hours listing the issues with this hair style and color, but instead I'll say don't have your hair done for free on camera unless you want it botched.
I feel like it's pretty common for people to be so stunned and pressured in the moment that they tell the stylist/barber they like it when they don't. It's also common to notice the patchiness after someone else points it out, especially in a part of your hair that you might not see right away.

She isn't slandering him or the business, she is saying she had a different idea of what her hair was going to be. He's taking it personally when he could've salvaged it even now, but I think this response will damage his brand, because he has shown that he can't accept criticism or communicate with his clients. Because she shouldn't have to remind them she wants long hair, they should ask about the length and reiterate before they start filming. It's not her job to start the conversation on what you're doing to her hair, you should ask.

K-tip extensions are light weight and work great for weaker hair, so i hope she gets those instead. They prolli used tape ins because bellami paid them to promote that product. There aren't many k-tip extension brands sponsoring tiktokers. I dont think she even needed extensions added if they were keeping her hair short because her hair was already a great density. It looks like a wig now. The color is great tho and k18 did wonders on her hair.

Went back a few weeks to do re growth and a colour refresh. Paid. Colour was nothing like i previously had, roots were lighter, etc. got gaslighted as though I did not have eyes on my face!! Lol
Even without the cameras and as a paying customer, when in front of another person, I know I’d at least be too uncomfortable and heightened in the moment to even process how it looks until I’m home, alone, calmed down, and have seen how it looks after a wash / in a more typical (relaxed) daily style. The thing that makes Alfredo seem less genuine to me is that he never tries to resolve it. He never says, "hey taylor, i heard that you are not happy with youe hair and i want to make it right." He could have hooked her up with a k18 rep in her area and paid for her to get what she wanted. And in the future, he should video the consult if he wants to use that as his receipts. Putting systems in place would prevent or resolve this issue.... unless the drama is what he really wanted for views
I do not hate the actual result at the end but I will say that it does not look worth whatever price he would have charged if it was not free, and the fact he was getting paid so much by brands to do this she should have gotten something way nicer. I think there should have been more discussion with her at a low stake enviroment without filming and lights before hand. And the fact the hairdresser does not understand that most people have a fear of telling the hairdresser that you don't like your haircut is ridiculous. Especially as she was beig filmed the whole time and the fact that the whole thing was framed as a gift to her. Of course she would have guilt expressing her real opinion.

My hair’s pretty curly, but straightens as it gets longer and weighs itself down. So it looks really flat when it’s first cut, but then curls up all cute and I love when it looks like that :]
