@@Ex0rz But it’s not the same thing. It’s a future dystopian setting so your free to write any story and has a new lead so your not tied into how that character is still a serving officer etc. Top Gun was an 80s feel good movie with many character arcs and to tie up all those things to make a sequel 30 years later that stays true to the original but also looked fresh on the screen is indeed a first and I doubt we will see a repeat of that success in our life time. Point to note, it honoured the original material without any PC nonsense and ticked all the boxes. I mean, they even managed to find a plausible way to put him back in the cockpit of an F14 for goodness sake which, for all of us was a must as the Tomcat became as much of a star as Maverick in the movie as well as a great way to say why he was still in the Navy with him being a test pilot plus iceman becoming the main man so always looked out for him. Look at all the variables and it’s never been done and not even close. On another note, many people were not satisfied with BR 2049 fans included as it was a little underwhelming. In contrast Top Gun fans were blown away and could see how much thought went into delivering in so many expectations.

It's easy to belittle and ridicule religion and faith, but one doesn't have to believe in God to recognise that Christian values create and maintain healthy, safe and productive societies; much more so than any secular equivalent.
Take, for instance, the Christian value of sex within wedlock. This discourages the sexualisation of children and adolescents, teenage pregnancies, STDs and single mothers. Statistically, children raised within a marriage are many times less likely to suffer short and long term psychological and physical disorders and even premature death. The same applies to men and women in marriage.

It’s so dead easy to see why the CRUISE / McQUARIE machine took a home run HIT this year & made $ 1.38 billion at the box office. This actor is Hollywoods most bankable asset since FORVER. I was so, so very skeptical with all the hype & trailers about this sequel & yet I found myself in a place, in a cinematic space - WRAPPED UP in this film that indeed belongs on the big screen. Can’t even remember the last time I cheered for the protagonist, laughed at great one liners, dug my nails into the seat at the suspense and story that took you - the audience for the RIDE of your life & yet there was CRUISE putting us in that CINEMA SEAT once more. I’ll be the 1 st to eat my words. This GENIUS (Tom Cruise) really knows what audiences want & deserve in a story & MAVERICK hits every note on that keyboard of cinema success. 10/10 …WE SALUTE YOU TOM! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🎥🖋🌞

Considering in JUST its opening weekend it became the 7th highest grossing film of 2022. Watching it in cinema was something else, like just wow, I love the original. I was a good 15 years off being born when it came out but I love it to bits, and Maverick has the perfect balance of respecting the legacy of the original, whilst also being able to hold its own story. and Who ever casted Miles Teller as Rooster deserves a huge bonus, you knew exactly who he was before he was introduced
