      @@tinydancer7343 I really don't think he's on anything at all. He's very articulate and seems clear-headed in this interview. It's so frustrating to me watching interviews of him clean where people have to continuously insist that he's still on something. Nothing personal, it just seems like you're mocking his progress by holding onto this idea of him as a cliche "drugged out rockstar". He's so much more.

      @@cierra7246 I completely agree with you it frustrates me as well. Like on one video you could clearly see he was concentrating on giving an answer and wording it properly and everyone was like "he's back on the drugs again!" when it fact he was probably being careful what he was saying after the incidents where his comments were taken completely out of context and took the wrong way

      Gah....isn't it pretty obvious by now that not all drugs are equal?
      Weed is WAAAY less dangerous than pretty much every other drug out there.
      Hell, even cocaine is safer than alcohol or cigarettes....the two things we legally "allow" people to use at whim.
      In short....our drug laws(certainly in the US) are fucking insane. It's almost like it's literally the polar opposite of how it should be.

    I come back to this a lot. Watch it and admire him. Now I’m putting this here I am not sure that I will be here after 2024. Not a cry for help, nor is it a “oh look here” I’m honestly not good I’ve followed this man since I was 16 I’ve copied him in principle and self think g it’s was good. Learning that and growing out of that. I’ve found that the world outside myself is now evil. I’ve achieved my dreams somewhat. And life was good. Losing my two most important women in my life was the kicker. I come back to this thinking i can overcome. We are now in January. I survived 2023, just. Stopping myself. NYE 2023. Losing interactions and interest in things. Music and media really is the thing. Typing this while crying and high. I’m 3

      31 now I hope I can come back to this and say alright. Yeah, I’ve done it. See you 1975 fans at the o2 in feb 2024 and we can cry. But you won’t know who I’d be. We are “ I am this person that will enjoy it” you’ll never meet me. I hope we can and be just ‘there’

    Matty talks like how i talk when i go for interviews. when i’m nervous and my thoughts are everywhere, i cant find the right words to say and i can’t phrase my sentences properly. like i need time to think about everything to properly put it in sentences.

    • @emmavileta3516
      @emmavileta3516 Před 5 lety +2

      Tigris 797 i think he’s definitely concerned with wording things to the fullest extent he can and trying to find meaning with everything and anything he can. he’s such a complex human being he can barely even finish a thought without continuing the next one- he has so much he wants to say because he just never stops thinking.

    I feel like I've come away from this interview knowing Matty much better than I did before. Before "A Brief Inquiry" Matty's honesty in his music always seemed to be juxtaposed with his secrecy in life; in his relationships, the meanings behind some of his more personal songs, and even his day to day routine. It always felt like he was keeping secrets from the fans. But he really laid himself and his thought process bare in this interview and I'm so grateful for it. I'm so grateful that Matty, George, Ross, and Adam decided to make an album that accurately reflected what it's like to be an artist, a fan, and a human in general. This band, and Matty himself, are truly something special.

    Their music has gotten me through many moments in life, following them for 6 years now. I treated myself to front row tickets to their show in New York in early July. Listening to this 54 minute breakdown of all of the work put into their recent album and their sources of inspiration humbles me and is pumping me up for one of the greatest nights I'll have 💖
    Whether or not you favor their style of music, you cannot deny the raw emotion drawn/demanded from their music ( the only true objective of any art form)
