    I play the Callaway Supersoft. For $24.99/dzn you really can't beat them. Should I be playing them with a 118-120mph club head speed in my driver? Probably not but I love the way they feel off all my clubs...especially my wedges and putter. Just the right about of stopping power on the green and spin for my game. They shouldn't work...but they do. Thanks for sharing...another nice video from ya.

    Thanks for doing this am a just under mid speed but use Supersoft now knowing what it does for me. Low shots with any club even chips run out more than other balls and high shots have that good declination and hold greens, just have to make sure you do not mishit given this and can take advantage of it. What u are showing is that at the higher levels of mid speed there might be loss in Driver distance versus higher compression balls, Also putts going downhill can run out more but uphill the soft cover requires a little more roll/hit. • @golfnut2965
      @golfnut2965 Před 4 měsíci

      @TKGolfYT The only drawback I can see, for me, is around the greens. Club selection is very important because of the spin. For example, if I'm on the side of an elevated green with a 5-10 yard pitch to the green and say 40-50 feet run out to the pin, my lob wedge won't work because I won't get the roll out in most cases. So anywhere from 9-gw depending on slope of the green. Now, if I'm short sided, the Lw works perfect.
      Keep in mind that I play with "traditional" lofted irons or as close as I can get, so my 9 iron is like most gw of today. As I'm sure you're aware, loft creates more spin. So that may also be why my approach shots tend not to roll out too much. So my decent angles are pretty high. With that said, I also don't back the ball up. Maybe 2-3 at most with full wedge shots.
      Just for reference, my normal playing swing speed with a driver is 88 mph. I can crank it up to 101, but I don't have the control. I'm not one of those folks who chases distances. I'm 72, so my last 300-yard drive was 12 years ago😮‍💨

    Interesting! I am a slow swinger and have tested all the balls in your test. For me Callaway is shortest of them of the driver…and around the greens almost not playable.
    Srixon is a rather good ball for me. Titleist is possibly the longest of them, but shorter of the irons. I like the spin though, but I prefer a softer ball…like Srixon.
    For me Titleist AVX is the longest and best overall ball. Great feel! Maybe a little low flight. TaylorMade Tour Response fly higher, but is shorter from tee.
    There is a lot more than compression to consider, such as feel/sound, flight, spin and look. And price. And brand, possibly.

  • @fretless05
    @fretless05 Před měsícem

    One part of the data that you didn't share was the standard deviations for each data-point. The reason I was hoping to look at that was that I'm playing too soft a ball (accidentally ordered Vice Pro Soft instead of Pro) and am finding that my distance control has seemed to be worse than it used to be when I played the Cut Grey (switched to Vice because Cut was out of stock). I did change my swing a bit to help protect my aging back, but I still have to wonder if the much lower compression can lead to more dispersion front to back with a faster swing. From your testing, it seems that, even if someone loves the feel of a soft ball, they really lose performance if they have decent swing speed... I need to move up the chart one the Golf Sidekick post.

    • @TKGolfYT
      @TKGolfYT  Před měsícem +1

      I think standard deviation is something I should include more in my test results actually 🤔 thanks for pointing that out.
      I will say though, the motivation to creat this video came from me trying to save some money and buying a dozen Callaway supersofts to play with. I was flying every green with a wedge or iron in hand. But every so often, one would go the distance I was expecting.
      To me, that suggests that the front and back dispersion with a softer ball was bad. But, that could don’t to build quality as well. There aren’t a lot, if any, premium golf balls that are on really soft end of the spectrum.

    • @fretless05
      @fretless05 Před měsícem

      @@TKGolfYT Your statement on build quality is an interesting thought, though there are expensive soft balls (Like Chrome Soft) though I don't know if they're good or selling the name. In any case, it appears Vice is no longer making the Pro Soft ball, so I won't be buying them again! Since my driver speed is 100-105, I think I'd do much better with a higher compression ball and, hopefully, it'll help with my distance control.

      Hi Dickey 😊 I think the reason I may not have been getting similar results to you would be because of the shafts I was using.
      As I’m using a stiff shaft throughout the bag, for optimal number, it needs to be swung faster than slow or medium swings. This rears its head more in driver I think. Also, the head I use on the driver is a 9d. When I was a slower speed at the start of my golfing journey, I was using an 10.5 or even higher driver head 😊
