I wasnt keen on the looks when it was first released, but it had grown on me alot. Im a fan of the smaller headlight now. Sounds pretty good, even for euro 4 with that massive cat/end pipe. Bet it would sound great with the Yoshi on there. The non TFT dash is a change from the 'norm' nowadays and looks great IMO

Owned several bikes and ridden lots including R1, Fireblabe, zx10,.Daytona, many Ducatis, KTM.
At 58 I bought me a GSXR a month ago. Most comfortable out of all of them. Easily best for
commuting . Lots of character. Not quite as much as my Aprilia RSV1000 but pretty close.
Chops that's vid was hilarious with the wheelie and GoPro flying off....well done, keep it goin. I had an AP50 the same colour back in 1977!
I've watched a lot of reviews on this bike, and yours is pretty damn hilarious. That was a real reaction to 2nd gear wheelie, b/c i've done the exact same. Can't wait to get mine ;)

I've got 12k miles on my 18 now... 4sets of tires.... A new radiator And oil cooler- (hit a deer!) New right side plastics. Added some heated grips a favorite! But it's been flawless

If your getting wheel slip you can’t wheelie anyway lol. Some people do not understand. People just don’t understand modern TC and how to use it. You don’t need separate wheelie control for a reason. Also brakes that are clearly not fading don’t need upgraded lines. They need to be adjusted as any new bike. The new gixxer is brilliant.
Try riding it hard to the point of brake fade, then come back and say how wonderful the brakes are. If you don’t get fade, you’re not riding it hard enough!!

Nice first impressions LC. I was lucky enough to take one for a test ride and agree with pretty much everything you have said. Can you do some launches with the launch control on your next video? That was one feature I didn't have the balls to try (or even know how to activate).

GSXR’s didn’t get indicators on their mirrors until 2005 when the K5 came out. The first 4 models had fairing mounted indicators.

The TC level does several things as you've noticed e.g. Anti wheelie. As you increase the level of intervention, it not only intervenes with less and less wheelspin, but it also has a preset maximum level of acceleration at each level of TC. Therefore it can kick in without any actual wheelspin because rate of acceleration has been reached for that level of TC..

Nice to hear she’s got the typical Gixxer scream under power, but unbelievable that Suzuki still haven’t sorted out the crappy brakes - GSX-R’s have ALWAYS had pants brakes, why can’t they sort that out?!
Yes it is a bit disappointing as everything else on the bike is tip top, I think braided lines or worst case a new MC would fix it. I know others have changed pads and its improved it but not 100% fixed it.
Lamb Chop Rides Yeah I’ve always but braided lines and Sintered SBS pads on my Gixxers, sorts the braking right out 👍

My old Gsxr1000 L0 had shite front brakes. Changed pads to Brembo. Improved slightly. Then changed to Brembo RCS master cylinder. Fully Sorted. :) Good find on your Go pro Chops.

Lambs, how did you mount that camer to you mirror? Is that a standard accessory or it had to be modded somehow? I am not really into sticking the GoPro mounting plate onto the fairing on a bike that has less than 300 km on the ODO :P

Wow that's amazing that in TC 1 the bike climbed so fast as you were pushing the throttle close to 10k+ rpm damn for someone with no experience wheeling and not used to the bike it would scare the shit out me. lol watching how fast it climbed it must have been so scary because it was sudden and quick. It certainly a powerful bike. Not sure how it would have even felt if it was unrestricted. really beautiful and amazing bike. I love suzuki gsxr1000r. I bought my first bike z900 last year and I started to feel bored of it. feel like it's not fast enough and want to buy a gsxr1000r now.

How do you rate this bike v the Ducati Supersport S you loved, I know they're different bikes but any comparisons with speed on those public roads, handling etc ?

Finally looks like Honda are releasing a new CB1000R for 2018! Have been waiting years to see what it will be like. If it's no good my choice will be between an MT09 and GSXS1000 (minus 1 tooth on the front sprocket).
If your TC is off or on level 1 or 2, you'll get the front off the ground. In a few days, you'll learn to position your body and change the balance of the bike. Then it becomes incredibly flickable. Don't forget to try out the launch control with TC off and your QS on mode 2. Launch control has a timer so you can't use it light to light. Also, changing your brake pads to Brembo street/track pads, fixes the free play in the brakes. And better hi-temp brake fluid also helps with brake fade on track or during heavy use. Of course.
+64t120r I had it in level 1 where it bit me, trouble is was just pinning expecting anti wheelie to keep it under control as it does in higher levels of tc. It just didn't do anything and if I hadn't shut it off would have flipped I'm sure...I guess you cannot completely tame a GSXR 😈😈

I reviewed the footage for you chops as soon as it got to 12 oclock your wrist was like no no thats enough of that thank you and you shut it off completely so maybe there was no intervention from mr traction control which is a bit of worry I suppose if you like wheeiles (well who doesn't)
+bchant19 yeah same here, tc light comes on when wheelie control does its stuff. Would have flipped if I hadn't closed it off. Trouble is was expecting it to react so left it pinned rather than modulate throttle when it started to lift!

Lamb Chop Rides Anyway, just finished the video, my exact same thoughts on the brake, I have no idea why they are like that, but it seems to be a Suzuki thing... I had one of these out on the Suzuki test ride day, I loved it, then again I loved the stocker too. If they offered the QS on the stocker I would have had that in a heartbeat.

How on earth do you get your glasses on so easily? I switched to contacts because it was a nightmare trying to ram the glasses down the sides they usually ended up wonky and digging in
Depends on your helmet, some have channels for glasses, cheaper ones usually don't
Stock better option, ecu flash, master cylinder and Ohlins can be had for $3000

I am just doing my full bike test and they put about what to do if you lock the brakes up and skid when braking but nothing about should you do a wheelie at 76mph.

I fell in love with this bike as soon as I saw it. A few months ago I bought myself the R version. I love it to bits (especially the engine character), but it almost seems like it is missing the 'x factor' that my Daytona 675r had. I don't know if it is the ergos, lack of ohlins, the weight of it, or what. Does anyone who has also ridden it have some insight?
All previous suzuki's are restricted in the first 3 gears, see if there is a smart tre £30 on ebay or a healtech X-Tre for £100, standard ignition is retarded around 4-7K revs, so you get a nice midrange boost with it fitted ( if it is restriced like previous GSXR/GSXS/B-KING/Hyabussa)

The front brake is the same on the GSXS1000 lots of movement before it bites.
Has to be a Suzuki thing. My 2012 750 does the same thing as well.

Im glad you do these honest reviews. I thought the gsxr wasnt as good as the hype. Poor brake feel was my biggest problem. Slow at changing directions. Viby and a bit hash. And i found the front end gets unsettled all to easy. Headshakes are vicious. That said its got some sweet stuff too. Namely great midrange courtasy of the vvt and good functional dash. But im afraid as much as i wanted to chop my 2015 zx10r in for it before i tested one i was left feeling dissapointed and glad to get back on my zx10r. Just hasnt got the rider feedback i was after. Shame...
Those are good point you've raised I would agree with them I did have a few head shakes but nothing too serious, just enough to keep things interesting hehe. I did like the ZX10R when I tested it back in 2016, hoping I can work with Kawasaki directly this year and borrow one for a few weeks

a20rsx He is a guy on CZcams and rides one to the limit, has a go pro on the tank ,when your splitting lanes at over 300kph, ya gotta have a good bike ,worth a watch ,maybe the gsx you rode was not setup right ?
interman 77 the standard steering damper is just no good and is not adjustable. Its not just the gsxr that has crap damper. My zx10r did too till i changed it. But everyone is saying brakes lever travel is terrible. Riding flat out on motorways takes little to no skill. Riding fast through corners is where the skill is at and the gsxr needs work in my opinion
