I've had 318s and 360s and I'd rather have the 360 to be honest.. just as reliable but they actually make torque.. 318 just isn't enough for one of these unless you re gear it with 3/73s or 4/10s
had a 1990 4x4 stick shift with headers cam shaft this was a beast had the winch and all front grill even went mudding on 2 wheel drive and was just rioping it

I have a 1985 with a 318 I beat the living shit out of that truck and it holds up I have sent it 100% many times and it literally has no issues starts every time idles great and it has the original carb I plan to change that tho
