There's a trend to photoshop Bocchi into album covers. I didn't end up using any in the vid but go to the community tab to see some of them.
I stan my shonen enjoyers
----
I know, I know, who cares about slice of life, save your keystrokes, all you shonen kids can go watch my academy acclaimed video on chainsawman. Because despite the rumors I too, was once, 13 years old so I forgive you for not 'getting' slice of life. But this video is about Bocchi the rock, because its great and it's being completely brushed over. But so that I can explain how good Bocchi is we have to understand where it came from and to do that we gotta talk about IT.
I will not tolerate mayonnaise slander, it goes well with ketchup and is good enough on its own, especially on fries
Lmayo
Lmayo +ratio
"nobody's watching", literally in the top watched weekly consecutively this season
Is that title better?
@@Frdyan honestly yeah. every other video praising it has a title trying to play on it being a hidden gem, when that hasn't really been true since week 1
calling it the chainsaw man of sol caught my eye lol
to be fair, the first 1-3 weeks of the show, it was barely talked about, once it started going way crazier and allowing more and more memes, it got more spread and it snowballed from there, cus before season started i betcha, at least outside japan, not that much people knew about this show and no one expected the level of care it has
Currently #6
@@HaxeRain it doubled the amount of members the show had on MAL since them. What's crazy is that no big youtuber did a dedicated video about it until recently.
I mean I’ve heard Bochi get praises in anime groups but your right I haven’t heard of it outside of them
hopefully people come back around to it after the csm hype tamps down a little
K-On has very good character development, bro
Well In japan Bocchi is actually the most popular show at the moment alongside gundam.
Yeah, I've seen the japanese language videos doing really well. I feel like its still getting heavily overlooked in the english speaking web though :/
@@Frdyan because they always hype the trash shows. you know, normies thing
You mean "witch from Mercury ?"
Well, Gundam is an ancestral gender, alongside the "mecha" gender. Even if like anyone know what Gundam is or has watched atleast one episode of anime with giant robots, unfortunatly, this tag has been dying out through the years, since, "it's getting old". Anyway, this New Gundam is doing the gender justice.
@@Frdyan well I mean as long as the Japanese likes it, it's most likely to get a season 2
And those are the two I’m watching every week. Haven’t watched seasonals in forever, but Bocchi and Gundam Witch came out swinging
tell me you didnt watch k-on without telling me you didnt watch k-on
Srsly, there's much more to it than "nothing happened" or the "no plot" argument
Plus it did have character development, almost every character changed than they were in their introduction
Its just that the change is realistic, as in its not so big that it basically become a different character
But i agree that bocchi is amazing
Its my favourite show of the season, possibly the year
But its not like k-on
The only similarity is that the two are music themed
So its unfair to compare them
I find it funny how every Bocchi review seems to have to trow in how K-on suck wile also seeming to want to say "this is K-on 2.0"
It comes of as a girl trying to till her ex boyfreind why her new boyfreind is so much better than him ... and also please come back, we can give it a second cance!! i promise i'll do better
😅I havent watched K-on, so i dont know what to say. But its hard to argue that K-on is not on classic when its living rent free in everyones mind for a decade now -..-
"it looks bad" compares it to spy x family and a show that has come out a decade after it. LOL yeah no shit shirlock whats next? Ranma 1/2 vs Atack on Titan? 😆
"Not a Classic" and "Doesn't hold us"
K-On
- one of the most important piece of Anime of it's time that perfectly encapsulated school life better than any other anime before it.
Let's not pretend Nana and 5 centimeters was a definitive show of it's time like how K-On was.
OK I'm not the biggest k on fan but you can't call the animation dull that shit rocks better than 90% of shows still today
There's a good video made years ago I think by digibro although their era is different idk what to refer them as on the adaptation of K-on I think Bocchi has usurped k-on on this but damn was it special at the time
I completely watched the whole season of K-On, and I dare say it lacked musical stuff. Bocchi is better in terms of music anime than K-On.
Well it seems like K-On has the most animation out of the 3. 4:30
I'll agree that from what we've seen from bocchi I like it more than K-On. Though, I think you are being a little harsh on K-On with the comparisons there. Yeah sure there's not much going on in K-On at all, and fair enough if it's not your thing, but I think that's the entire point of K-On - cherishing the time you spend with friends while you can, not necessarily the whole band aspect. Whereas bocchi is about overcoming social anxiety and working to grow as a band, so other than both having a band, there's not really too similar as far as slice of life goes.
Also K-On animation slander ain't it, there's a reason there's an entire generation of animators who are basically disciples of Naoko Yamada after K-On came out
I feel like you're being a tad unfair against K-On. Not much happens during most of the show, that much is true, but the run time feels like an attempt at making you get attached to the characters so that when the last few episodes arrive, you'll hopefully feel empathy towards Azusa. You asked what we remembered about K-On's story, and Azusa slowly realizing she'll be left behind once graduation comes was the first thing that came to mind. That whole arc has a pretty strong emotional load, to the point where I ended up crying at the very end despite that being something that virtually never happens to me, all because their shenanigans ultimately did make me care about them.
But yeah, Bocchi is better lol.
This is exactly my thoughts tbh
K-On is a show about the characters and their relationship. Bocchi the Rock is about Hitori improving her social anxiety to grow together with the band. I understand why people compare the 2 but they really shouldn't, they are completely different.
For me the accurate way of describing it would be band Nichijou + 3-Gatsu. it's really a very unique anime because it has so many things going for it at once.
His whole criticism on K-On’s animation is inaccurate. It’s some the best animation a slice of life series has ever seen, and it feels like he dismisses it because none of the characters have pink hair, and the setting isn’t full of colors and over the top animation. Completely disregarding the photo realism and incredibly nuanced body language that K-On has been recognized and praised for in the last decade.
@@TheEmolano Yeah, I compare them just for the hell of it, but it's true that they're pretty different.
I understand that many westerners doesn't like K-on but to the many people who love it especially in Japan it's not only a classic but still relevant even now and Bocchi the Rock is no doubt influenced by it. I love both Bocchi and K-on, both of them is slice of life but told in different way similar to many shonen series. I know you don't like K-on but this constantly criticizing a story just to elevate another especially when you don't like majority of the genre is just lame and gets old real fast.
The thing about K-on is, it's 100% slice of life. People like you who don't like it it's all because of the genre. Yes, you may find something in the genre you like as Bocchi the Rock is one of them but the series is more focus on Bocchi herself, their music and comedy. Bocchi is more a comedy series than slice of life. K-on the quintessential slice of life as the interaction and the daily live of the girls is the story and why it's one of the most successful anime ever.
I made a video talking about why I like slice of life and the problems with the genre, its called slice of life into pieces. You might find that interesting
I've really been enjoying this show this season. It truly came out if nowhere for me and just started gaining points with each episode.
The comedy in this show is just on point. The jokes of awkward moments of social interactions and relatable struggles with it hit the mark, specially for those who find, or have found themselves, in these same situations (she just like me fr fr)
That, accompanied with the genius visuals that are constantly changing to keep it fresh, complement the comedy so well. I've laughed out loud several times when they just hit you with Bocchi making some funny face or having a meltdown over whatever crazy shit she has on her mind lmao
And the music
Bruh
B R U H
The songs are ones that you could easily come to enjoy like any other song by proper musicians and bands. I've already downloaded 3 of them 'cause they're legitimately really good; and the fucking live concerts are so fucking gooooood, specially after watching episode 8. I've replayed that clip on CZcams like 20 times already.
Not to mention the fact they put extra effort to animate the instruments correctly and with a more realistic aproach that helps enhance the performances, making them feel all the more important.
Finally, the VA's performances are all so good as well, they all do a great job to portray their respective characters, specially Bocchi's and the way she speaks sttutering a little out of nervousness and all that.
I saw the trailer for this show knowing nothing beforehand and thought it looked pretty good, then I saw the sheer style and amazing animation in the opening and had my expectations raised as I watched it, and then the rest is history.
Currently one of my favorites anime this season.
There, I finished gushing about the show.
Well done if you managed to read all of that up to this point lol
When I saw this in my notifications, I expected to have to exert herculean strength to watch this video.
I somehow found it easier to sit through each minute, like some sort of supernatural fungus infecting me the more I watched.
I'm not a huge fan of moe stuff but this video exposed me to the artistic creativity this show can offer. (9/Mustard)
this comment was a wild ride from beginning to end, 8/pi
i joined a band and we played in the cultural festival, is was awesome!
Another comparison to make with regards to K-On is the music production: Bocchi just destroys K-on in that aspect from songwriting to mixing to mastering. K-on's songs feel like marketing material for the series, exploiting the "cutesy" of the characters and the seiyuu's persona. Kessoku band's songs, while still being promotional material for the series, feel like proper, real-life band made songs.
Also very true
and how the ep 5 ver and ep 8 ver differ and was performed by the team with varieties in it... the attention to detail is really nice
But you can't like. Some pf those K-On endings especially ed 3 or season 2 ed 1 hit different.
And the lyrics to "guitar, loneliness and blue planet" are godly, I really seriously recommend looking at a breakdown of it becuase it truly depicts Bocchi's point of view, her whole process of thinking and her development, how she realizes she wants people to notice and in the lyrics you can hear her progress and slowly gain the valor to scream out loud "NOTICE ME".
It is truly wonderfully written from the point of view of Bocchi, you feel what she feels through it in a meaningful way and as a person with really similar struggles it hits me deeply.
Especially their live performance where they start bad then bocchi carries💪
Totally agree. Bocchi is such amazing show, it deserve a second season
Bocchi is so fucking underrated 😭 when I first heard of it I thought it's gonna be like K-On, I love K-On, but Bocchi is actually better.
Yoo I've seen you before!
Dude you can't compare it, it's completely different. But yeah Bocchi is top tier. I'd say it's closer to Watamote, not K-On.
(It's your guys fault I don't have many friends) check it out lol
I FUCKING LOVE BOCCHI LETS FUCKING GOOO
BOCCHI IS SO FUCKING GOOD
HAD SUCH HIGH EXPECTATIONS WHEN I SAW THE TRAILER BUT IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN I THOUGHT HOLY SHIIIIIIIIII-
Don't worry, it's going well in japan, it will get a second season, eventually...
To be fair I don't think this show don't have anything to do with K-On other than the premisse, but I understand that it's impossible not to drawn comparissions between then, it's like Naruto vs DBZ.
I'm happy this show got somewhat recognized, it will probally never go mainstream (despite doing enough things right for it), but a genre classic is likely.
the second i saw the velly of the wind reference it passed the chainsaw man anime imo
Bocchi is on track to getting number 2 or 3 on reddit this week so that's something, although there's no way it's beating chainsaw man that has 10k more upvotes. I believe it's already number 1 in Anime Trending as well.
Yeah it's not completely getting missed out on, we do have like 4 or 5 more eps to catch up but its coverage in english-anime land has been really underwhelming for how inventive it is imo
The best anime i've ever watched. So good in fact that i don't think i deserve it
the best thing about Bocchi is that it's a full fleshed story, not just a superficial cutesy show. The manga is fun, elastic and very well written, it is also grounded on the real japanese rock scene. the anime elevates all of these things and the songs are pure gold. Bocchi the Rock is a good story overall with the Kerara aesthetic as a bonus.
Brother I clicked ur vid and Mr doom graced my ears, godbless you
Bocchi the Rock! finally made me realize that I like series that aren't action or mystery based. Death Note, JoJo and FMAB were an interchangeable template for what I like for so long that it took something this good (and going back to watching anime again after having VTubers be the primary form of media I consumed for over a year) to make me realize how good this stuff could be.
Bless you for linking the thumbnail image
I always get tilted when creators don't :d
While I like the Video I feel like it's important to mention that... not every show need a plot. Not everything has to be some Death Note level plot or complexity . Sometimes just having a show that's just relaxing and enjoyable to watch for 20 minutes a week is enough to be good
i love chainsaw man, i love bocchi the rock, but bocchi has been living in my head rent-free way more than CM, so I think that speaks to just how good of a show it is. am glad i picked up the anime right as it started to blow up lol, it deserves a season 2 so much
Another thing I’d like to point out about the series manga (no worries, no spoilers) is that they managed to flesh out and give characters to literally 4 panel scenes. Each scene in the manga (apart from some important ones) are laid out in 4 panels, usually simplifying it. Clover managed to flesh it out and add MORE to it
Honestly at the time I watched it I did so out of boredom and because I remembered I had watched the trailer for it, there were two episodes out at the time, and It was all good, but after three episodes it already was this season's best show for me.
Bocchi the rock is like K-on but modernised
Yo MF Doom music in the background, a sigma male
I'm just here to comment how frigging awesome the thumbnail is... absolutely piqued my interest.
k on is potentially the most realistic shows i’ve ever seen. the characters look, act, and behave like high school girls. in the beginning they make it a goal to eventually play in this big festival and they never make it there cause they never practiced. they got together after school and hung out cause realistically that’s what most high schoolers would end up doing. the music they did end up playing was kinda ass and just made to be catchy like most people would make. the end was low key sad with how they all graduated and left azusa behind. i don’t think bocchi the rock is a fair comparison and should more align with nichijou even tho that’s not the best comparison either. bocchi the rock is just special and eventually a new band slice of life will come out and we’ll be using it as the comparison…
Bocchi is my favourite anime from all the season. But I think there is no plot in k-on until the last episodes, and it is about those times doing "nothing" that the girls passed through the entire anime. It ends up being an incredibly sad moment when graduation comes around and Azusa is left alone. It teaches you to enjoy those moments for as long as you can, because at some point they will end. Animes like Lucky Star or Nichijou also don't have a consistent plot, but they are hilarious and entertaining, for me that is enough for an anime to be good.
I think the animation in Bocchi is excellent and creative using different styles. K-on didn't have a nice looking animation in the first season, but from then on it gets a lot better. The differences between the first season and the movie are impressive. But, despite that, I don't believe that it is right to compare how good is an anime just because how they are animated, they were made by different studios in different times and with varied budgets.
I love Bocchi and K-on, but in my opinion, it is not fair to say that Bocchi has been doing what K-on never could do. They both tell a story, but they are focused on different things.
I love how images of jojo keep popping up
Thanks for spreading the word ! Hopefully fans keep up the support so we get more than the usual 2 seasons of quality before it gets disbanded for the benefit of mediocre quantity...
Ayyy nice video man I was interested in bochi and now I’m certainly going to watch it thx

>Lucky Star
ISHYGGYD
Lucky Star walked so K-on could run, my guy, Lucky Star IS the 2007s, the the perfect photo of a fandom that no longer exists
Bocchi the rock is great!!!! I can relate to Bocchi a lot with stuttering, autism, anxiety, introvertedness and messed up head/mental health issues (combined with the randomness of Ryo) and if i ever have to explain to someone what anxiety attacks are like i would show then the "Bocchi glitch" scene among others.
Also Ryo is a goddess of Drip/Fashion
Considering my youtube recommended is full of bocchi-edits from japanese people, all of them with 200K views or more, it's gotta be popular in japan
STOP COMPARING THE TWO. I’m so tired of people comparing them. They’re not the same. They don’t follow the same premise at all, and the characters are a complete different set of people. What makes K-On good is NOT what makes Bocchi good and vice versa. The only comparable thing is their genre, and that’s where the similarities end…
I also STRONGLY disagree with your take on K-On’s animation.
The beauty that lies in K-On’s animation isn’t with its color pallet or setting like Bocchi and Spy Family. It’s character animation(body language, emotion, and nuanced characterization.) paired with incredibly detailed settings is what makes its animation shine. As good as Bocchi’s animation is. It still vastly pales in comparison to K-On’s nuanced animation in body language. I urge you watch K-On again and see just how many frames of body movement are used portray specific emotions and circumstances. Shitting on its animation does an incredible disservice to Naoko Yamada who has made a successful living and pedigree off her animation direction and frame design. Not to even mention KyoAni is widely praised for their animation techniques and attention to detail. You’re overlooking and undervaluing how great K-On’s animation is.
I'm not clowning Yamada. A Silent Voice is a favorite of mine.....and its way better looking than K-On 🤪
@@Frdyan it's not like K-On! was released in 2009 and Koe No Katachi was in 2016. Surely there is no improvement at all in 7 years gap. Oh and btw KnT was a fckin movie

K-on walked so Bocchi the Rock could run

Bocchi is the best anime this season.

Oh, we tusslin'
But you rep Bocchi and DOOM well so I can overlook this slight.
EDIT
Given this adaptation was begged for by the director I think it would have to do only decently well to get an S2. Feels like a pet project type show.
more like Mid-nabi Straight 🤪
Idk about the title..

Indeed
Bringing up Bakemonogatari-memes but omitting the greatest one of SHAFT's animation quality dropping as the first season progressed is a hoot and a half.
For your channel's size it's so HIGH QUALITY.??????. WTH
You're comparing Bocchi and K-ON like K-ON not having an overarching plot and simply being about cute girls goofing around is an inherently bad thing, which is uncharitable and unfair to K-ON, because it isn't. The themes of Bocchi and K-ON are completely different. Bocchi is about breaking free from social anxiety and expressing yourself through music. K-ON is about the blissful mundanity of youth, which is why there's no overarching plot in K-ON. The band in K-ON is just a backdrop for the series, because in K-ON, being a band is just the hobby they bond over, while Kessoku Band on the other hand, is actually attempted to make music their career. The only similarities they have are friendship being a core theme of their stories, and the fact they're moe comedies. That's it. Not every anime needs a plot to be good. This is why the character development in K-ON is small and subtle (Ex: Azusa learning to be less up-tight as the series goes on). Because the character development isn't the point of the story. Their relationship with each other is the story. The characters don't need to be as dramatic as Bocchi's in order to be good.
Also, I'm stunned how you can ironically say that K-ON is ugly. Like, what's your standard for what makes an anime pretty? K-ON was animated by Kyoto Animation, one of the best studios in the industry, and was directed by the generational talent that is Naoko Yamada. The same woman who directed A Silent Voice. It's colorful, wildly expressive, its characters move very naturally, Yamada's cinematography is some of the best in the industry, and the backgrounds are so detailed that the staff actually used photos of the real life locations as references to animate the finer details. K-ON's production is the same tier of quality of Bocchi. Just because Bocchi is higher in that tier, does not mean that K-ON is not that tier at all.
>ritsu pfp
@@Frdyan So what? I love both K-ON and Bocchi. That doesn't make me biased. That just means that I know better than to slander another series that's great in its own way to uplift another. Bocchi is great on its own merit. Not because it's "better than K-ON." That's just disrespectful to K-ON. Like it or not, K-ON is a classic because like you mentioned yourself, it's one of the influential anime in slice-of-life of history. And it's one of the few anime that's still relevant and incredibly popular over a decade later. There's a reason for that. So, I highly recommend that you give K-ON another chance so that you can see its charm. Because K-ON is still to this, one of the best anime of the entire genre. The characters' relationships and their growth are all so natural, unlike most other shows, among so many other things that are great about the series.
okay man i will comment on this video to tell u you are doing really good content u should keep it up ur voice fits it well lol!

Dude, you missed it. Jojo is actually a pretty good Moe show.

Excellent take. Have a like, comment, and subscribe, good sir.
K-ON was absolutely fun.
The only sad part of Bocchi the rock releasing is that people are starting to undermine K-on because Bocchi is better. But the reality is that Bocchi is way too amazing of a show. It's more than a simple Slice of Life... It's an actual masterpiece.... Almost a modern classic.
So K-on is still amazing even when it is a clear inferior show to Bocchi the rock. Saying K-on is bad because Bocchi is better is similar to saying Pizza is bad because there exist expensive Michelin star restaurant food.
Finally someone who can shit on K-On for me
I will shit in your stead - lmao
Jojo is the greatest moe anime of all time
