He doesn't want that. It's what society expects him to want. And he want to be free and do his own thing, not be just like anyone else and not comply to what society expect of him. First he's feeling confused in every situation because people are expecting all kind of things from him (drinking, smoking, having a wife and kids or a relationship, being an outgoing child and playing with his parents(they're disappointed when he doesn't want to play with them or with the stuffed animal ). When he sees the last girl, that is also confused just like him, she reminds him of himself. He sees that he's not alone with this feelings and it's okay to think in a different way and he starts to accept himself. Then you can see he's happy in every situation. When the door opens it's like a maze of rooms representing the different struggles you go through in life. But when you accept the way you are and the way you're feeling you can be content in the present and it gets easier to go through life. It's about not wanting to comply to societal expectation, accepting oneself, being content in the present and his journey of self-discovery in general.

With such a deep meaning and at the same time with such a pleasant atmosphere, a light vibe, one might say, of a weekend. Many may not have expected from RM just such a song, in this direction.. But for some reason I thought that there would be just such a performance in the genre of indie pop or jazz.. I really love it when rappers, especially RM and Suga, sing vocal slow songs. This sounds so good! 💜
The video is very beautiful and interesting! This is art with a capital letter! This is aerobatics! Plus, RM's acting is incredible (as is the entire cast). He conveys the atmosphere of the song, the emotions so well.. He is a genius! It’s so wonderful to reveal the topic of standards, opinions and a person’s internal struggle with these standards imposed by society.. acceptance of oneself, one’s desires.. and freedom from them (these imposed standards), which makes it possible to live one’s life with joy and happiness.. In harmony with oneself.
I could do this, in such a way style, only an amazing leader and a wonderful person - our Kim Namjoon.

My Interpretation connects to Wildflower. It's actually the next chapter. In Wildflower he wrote about how he feels lost and he feels like he is in a storm. I think the whole song is about his creativity/struggles and the women represent it. He always talked in the past about the "pain of creating" and how he regrets things. That's why he sings "You are my pain" and "I see you (=creativity) come back to me". I connect that with what he said in his lives: That he makes music now like he never did: His creativity came back. The women represent how he struggled with his creativity during his career. When he is a "baby" in the music industry the parents represent the pressure and the people that believed in him and that he worries he could disappoint (he wrote in past songs about that fear). Suga was there too, symbolized as the tangerine on the pillow. They worked hard on the first songs together. He fights with the women, he runs away, he searches for them. In the end he finds his creativity in himself (he changes to the woman) and is finally happy. He makes peace with his creations/struggles of the past. And he finally is able to open this door he always wanted to reach and leaves the maze/fake live he was trapped. RM mentioned on Sugas concert where he performed this song live, that it is very important for him. I think he made peace with the past and found happiness and this way a new/real connection to his creativity as a poet again, without pressure of success. I guess you noticed that this song is 6 min long. Actually too long to be streamed often enough to make it to the top of the charts (in US the songs are about 2 - 3 min to get more streams). I love the positive vibe of this song and feel really happy for Namjoon. As the leader of BTS the pressure was obviously huge. This break was so much needed for him. He seems so grounded in the end. 💜💜💜 PS: I think the woman and the kid in the bath represent BTS and Army, his family. Although it's his family he obviously felt trapped (his creativity was trapped), but once he found his real creativity again he seems so happy with them. 💜

The instrumental on this was toooo good!! Something about it made me feel nostalgic, especially the chorus. I do feel like the key of the verses were a bit low. We know that RM is very wise and deep but his haircut plus basically no makeup really gave him this mature, grown up, next stage of life vibe.

My theory If you know RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. He is continuously pushing boundaries. In way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around confused and unhappy through all these potential different lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario after being united with his other half/ self he can be more comfortable with others. But he still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman( other half Jung or Plato?) out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. However with RM there is always light at the end. Hope of better futures now he can see what life is about, he is free of those boxes. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. BTS are are each others biggest fans and inspirations. They carry threads of imagery symbols lyrics etc through their songs. Even though Jungkook didn't write Golden he found songs that carried that BTS dna.

about the pressure to grow up within predetermined boundaries, such as the social construction of marriage and having a heteronormative partner, it's really profound knowing how in Korean society especially, people live a lot by social pressure and what people expect of them, That is why in the end we see how he understands that he does not need all those things that are expected of him and he goes with the girl
