- So many classic Datsun Sunnys at this garage in Fukuoka! I went there to see just one, the gold VB10 Sunny Van, so was surprised to also see several more two-door Sunnys, a MS75 Toyota 'Kujira' Crown, and a KGC110 Nissan 'Kenmeri' Skyline 2000 GTX. The first generation Datsun van is a rare sight even in Japan. This particular one has been restored, and to be honest, is in need of another one. Still, it looks cool as, and will turn heads for many years yet.

Ha!
I had a datsun 1000
Great first car mine had a 1200 motor and a
4speed manual 4door.simply loved it.paid 900 dollars in 1983
Had it years till i was stupid trade it in on a tx 1975 gemini automatic.
Wish i kept it now.young and foolish. Still have fond memories of my duckegg blue datsun.
Sharp eye as always my friend. I enjoyed watching. Thanks for shooting, adding your special flair, editing, uploading and dealing with haters to get it to us… your loyal fans. ❤️🏁🇯🇵🇦🇺🙌
Thank you so much :)
Absolutely love that Gold Van... And that Crown on the lift!
Dude, that Crown is glorious. I hope to see it down off that hoist
That crown is amazing and thanks for the explanation of the front
I’m stood here going what is with the head lights and then boom
You let us know 👍👍👍
Ha! Amazing. Thanks for watching, David.
Sunnies getting love! That 2dr van is awesome. So odd but it works.
:)
Love dat gold Sunny, ...I'd happily scoot around town in one of those. :)
Would be cool for sure
That little Sunny van looks to have the same enigine as my old 1980 210 that was my first car. Back then, when all of my friends had Camaros, I hated that car. Now, I wish I still had it. I guess that how life works. lol
Damn. Lol. It does indeed
Always love a Kujira Crown coupe, one of my dream cars. I'll take the Kenmeri project car as well!
They'd make a cool pair of project cars. Both top notch
THANK YOU ! Loving those trucks & vans. I miss the ones my father drove in the 70’s. an 80 square body for a few years .
Thanks, mate
Gave me a scare there bud!! I'm happy to see you spreading your joy of cars once more. Thanks Dan for putting in the effort love it mate!!
Ah. I was just saying *wa*sabi* cars, where I constantly post rusty cars is dead. I just can't find them anymore. So, more cars from car show, etc...
Wow.. I need to check that place out!! Those last cars ... so dusty.
"A little bit o' dust, and a little bit o' rust..." :)
That gold color is really nice, works really well on an old van like that. Also that Crown, what a beauty
Oh, yeah, that Crown. Stunning
Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your awesome video with us.
Frederick! I'm going back through so many comments. Doing my best :) がんばりましょう!
The humble sunny trucks have always been my dream car.
Humble, yet super popular
KE70 owner here and I absolutely love how those Sunny Vans look like. Nice video as always Dan.
Thanks so much. Hey, KE70's are actually quite rare here. AE7*, and TE7*, I've seen a few though
I loved it before the vid, but after, i love the van even more. Those side draft carbs are so cool.
It's very cool :)
What a great video on a cool little car series! Certainly made my day a little SUNNY-er! Ha! Ha! Okay, I'll stop now...
Great video as always, Dan. Take care.
Stop?? You'd barely started! ;-)
@@wasabicars Thanks for the reply, you're only encouraging me!
Again. another great video. another cool place I gotta put on my bucket list and I wonder what other dusty treasures are on those shelves!!!
Thanks, man :)
That little gold Datto may not be perfect but it would still be cool to roll around in. Don't see many of them around anymore. I think I know where there is one near me, but that's about it.
Completely unrelated. The Jawoodle series I saw was Eclipse. Saw literally just the first ep of Darkness Falls. Not sure I can commit to it. May skip ahead to the How to play: Perception/Fortitude/Strength/Agility/Intellect... May, but who has time. Lol
@@wasabicars Yeah not sure I've seen that one, I've gone off it a bit. I tend to go through phases like that lol. It is quite time consuming to play too, I haven't fired it up for ages. Been having some health issues this year so after work I'm usually knackered and if anything I go and play some GTA cause it doesn't take much brain energy. The stress of zombies and killer bears doesn't appeal to me much at the moment lol.
That VB10 didn't have the original motor. It has to be either an A14 or A15. The distributor is next to number 3 cylinder & there is 2 outer studs instead of 1 central stud, as with early A10's & A12's. Also, these cars were basic transportation, so the sparse interior was how it was built. I had a Sunny 1000 coupe with a 1.3 litre A12 that I raced in hill climbs in the 1990's, the car weighed about 600 kgs all up. I also had a VB310 panel van & a WPB310 Sunny wagon with the sloping rear body work, plus a couple of B310 sedans & KB310 coupes. so this video was greatly enjoyed. .
Hi Paul. I'm pretty confused about the engine situation in the VB10. Yeah, came with the A10. The garage owner says it has an A12, and the sales listing says it's 1500cc. Hey, this is exactly why 'car spotting' is where my hobby starts and ends. I'll leave the details to people such as yourself who know what they're talking about. Thanks for watching :)
I'd say it was an A15 then. I've been told you can get an A12 out to 1400 cc's, but not 1500. Maybe the garage owner was afraid he'd get in trouble with the shakan people. I can remember a line from the Initial D manga where Takumi was worried they were putting a different engine in the Panda Trueno. In Australia we seem to be swapping bigger engines in with no second thoughts. That Hatchi Roko would have had a 18RG or a 13B rotary fitted quick smart.
There used to be loads of the sunny vans here in Ireland, for tax purposes cheap to insure, god knows where they are now, all rusted away I suppose, anyway good to have you back, I dip in now and again, keep up the good work 👍
As I was reading your first sentence, I was just thinking, "Rust". Thanks. Vids every Saturday, even when I don't feel like it :)
Awesome car lot , I am also a big fan of the original steering wheel ! , No matter what type of car American muscle or Japanese classics like these I always prefer the original wheel , Great video Daniel take care be careful out there
Thanks. Yeah, I do love OEM steering wheels too. Wait to you see the wheel I got for the project car :D
Nice one Dan, healthy sounding engine in the wagon !
Thanks, Tim
I really missed the best part of the beginning of the premier, lucky for me I can watch it again. I would take the VB310 Van but in gold color and twin 40's karbs. Oh and the up skirting floor mats as well 🤣
Hahahaha! Thanks, Ljubo. Yeah, that 310 looked very cool. I don't think I could go past the 2 door Crown though. That was next level
The gold VB10 was on YAJ dirt cheap a few years ago! So cool
It was?? Interesting. It's not dirt cheap now. Lol
Slabside Suzuki gsxr at 1:16, "That's not bad either!" 1:28
Edit, I'm a Datsun man too, just wouldn't expect to see one of those bikes floating around that area!
Sorry, Angus. I was probably looking at the van. I haven't had much exposure to bikes :/
Amazing stuff
Thank you. Definitely a cool place
Great video !
Thank you
My mate had a Datsun 1000 like that I learnt to drive manual in a Datsun 1200 coupe want one so bad
Oh! Sorry for missing your comment. Nice. Back in the day I never had any friends driving Japanese brands. I did drive my buddy's 3-on-the-tree VH Valiant though. That was a thrill
the roof panel looks like its reholstered im not familiar with how this van orignally was inside, but this is what my B110 2 door sedan looks like at the roof when i now removed the roof panel, so it looks to me maybe the roof panel on this van is installed under the rails/ fastening bridges in the roof,as in my b110 the holster was mounted outside the rails/brigdes, but to me it gives it a more industrial aproach that i like :-) otherwise a nice clean Sunny Van. Sincerely Ivan
Thanks for that info, Ivan. Appreciated
8:57 I can almost smell the old Japanese gas and oil from here! ...and I'm in Canada!
Ha!
Those Nissan Sunny trucks were built in my Country as the Nissan 1400 up until 2008
Seriously?? Wow. Those Datsuns really were built over a long period of time.
@@wasabicars Yes and are still extremely popular, I've seen those load more than what a Isuzu Elf should load , they last a long time too , very tough and durable , the interior also has basically stayed the same and has the 70s era dashboard
The Sunny Van is freekin' awesome. I love the bare metal all over the interior, so honest. Basic gorgeousness! When you see something like that do you not just want it Daniel? What body part would you give to have that?
A kidney, I guess. Not my kidney though! Lol
At my age I'm pretty much done with some other bits I could happily swap!
includes a startup!
Yeah buddy. I do if I can :)
Thanks for sharing all those Sunnies! I'd love to drive that van with those twin carbs. What a magnificent sound! 😘
I also love the crown! This generation is a bit of an odd ball in the Crown family design and back in those days it must have been like the Chris Bangle 7 series: you love it or you hate it!
What's the car behind you at the very end of the video?
That Crown really was stunning. As for the car behind me... some big US car. Sorry. I didn't bother taking pics :(
@@wasabicars but us cars? that's the wasabi cars origins! 😲😉
cool :). liking that gold color, the k11 could also have a very similar one, if not the same one. was hoping to find one in this color, but i guess you cant win them all haha
There are K11's from the factory in gold?? I've never seen
@@wasabicars yeah, if i remember correctly it was only offered in europe, for 2 years only, but its relatively common. i went to check one in that color before, but it was a heap of shit condition wise haha
I've got 2.5 vb10 wagons and a kb10 coupe in sydney
Hahaha! I hope you can track down another 0.5 :)
rusty gold mine!
I'm greedy for more!
What do they do for replacement 1/4 glass seals over there?
Generally speaking, Japan does a very very bad job of parts to keep old cars on the road. I doubt there'd be any available
Yum
Dan, a rando question. But, are you in Nakatsugawa? If not, where abouts?
Seeing the price of that shortbody makes me feel real bad as since the American explosion in interest in Japanese cars has taken hold, once affordable old J-tin is now priced out of control, even in Japan. That is not a 1.2 million yen truck. Ten years ago it would have been less than 100k yen. We're living in crazy times, my friend.
For sure. The dream of owning some "cheap" old Japanese car is indeed just a dream
Looks like Toyota 520 paint from TA22
Ah! I think I know the one you mean
there listening to wiz kahlifa while working on cars over there in japan?
Ha! That's who it was? It was cool and all, but music playing in the background at garages and car shows is something I don't like in case I get done for including copyrighted material.
I never got why the b10 coupe wasn't popular, they are much cooler than the b210 imho, and I have owned I think 4.....sad. They also make a mini look heavy and the a15 goes straight in.
I think you're right. The B210 were ugly ducklings (though sought after nowadays)
auto likes...nice statsvan
Thank you
Would like a 1200 Ute but they're worth to much here
Prices are just nuts. Gonna have to settle for some 90's kei car :/
Oh my gosh moon ice carpet s.
:)
Oh. I didn't know the pronunciation was WATAnabe, I thought it was wataNAbe. 🤔
Strictly speaking, each syllable should be evenly weighted. I think I (personally) stress the TA though... waTAnabe... Maybe
That headlining in the van definitely doesn't look right to me, the "ribs" should be under the fabric and there should be piping with clips embedded in it around the border. Love the Kujira Crown, the tail light styling reminds me a bit of late production Mark II Corona tail lights.
AH, yeah. That headlining... Crown's so awesome
Saw you wear Crocs. Unsubscribing.
I have both good and bad news. They're not as good as Crocs :/
@@wasabicars The fact that you know... Lol.
