One-Owner 1971 Nissan Cherry Van (Datsun 100A) + Classic Nissan Garage Tour

- Today I visited a classic car garage in Fukuoka called Harfee's. I went there specifically to see this beautifully aged Cherry van (VE10), not only because it's old-school cool, but also because it can be considered a true JDM unicorn. Aside from the feature car (which may likely be one of last few 1st-generation vans in Japan) they also stock several special Nissan Cedrics, a 1st-gen Nissan Laurel sedan, Nissan Bluebirds (510), and VW Beetles.

Yes
Maybe i will do the same but im restoring the datsun 100a and not buying it, maybe its cheaper?
@@vitonamous they are pretty cheap anyway.
@@isaacsrandomvideos667 alright
What a killer little van, I'm diggin' it! Also, that shop is a real jewelry box, with some wonderful gems inside. As always, another wonderful video, thanks for sharing.
Jewelry box, a very apt expression. And, thank you :)
What a super garage! Everybody should have one of these at the end of their road .
Oh, for sure. I wish there were way more places like this.
that one car looks like a Japanese version of a AMC Gremlin which is cool I like them
Yeah, there is a bit of that in this
Awesome vid dan. That van is incredible. That shop was impressive great to see so many rare cars in original condition.
Thanks so much, Steven. I enjoyed making this vid. :)
Nice rarely see those vans but I like the coup but never knew about it till i played my summer car
Great stuff! Very nice! Great job mate!👍👍👍👍
Thank you. I really enjoyed putting this video together. :)
Fantastic video. I'm jealous. Love the Cherry 100A Wagon. An early one too with the cooling fan mounted on the inner guard and the chrome hub caps. This was my Dads 1st Datsun in red in 1971. Remember it well.
Thanks, Andrew. Damn, you and Datsuns go way back :)
Wow, i love your videos , i hope i have one day opportunity to see those cars too. Keep doing these videos!
Thank you. YEah, I'll keep going. Was stretched too thin this week
First person I've subscribed to, content is always awesome and constantly learning more about the beautiful old Japanese tin. Keep the videos coming, want to travel Japan car spotting one day and this Is the next best thing, I have a 73 datsun 240KGT that will be restoring to factory spec next year. So lucky to get then in NZ =)
Thank you for your message. Makes me happy. :) Good luck with the resto, too.
Very nice show room. and lovely cars .
Thank you :)
nice one :)
i thought there will be some mentions about the satsuma from msc in the comments hahaha
I wasn't familiar with the game. I wish I could play it. But, Linux :(
Am I the only person who answers Daniel's questions out loud when he asks them? 😁
Great video as always! I had no idea that the Cherry van existed and I want it now too!!
Lol. I definitely couldn't hear your response. ;-)
Favorite Wasabi Car ever
Love an old beetle, my family has one actually, would love a cherry on my drive too
I think I must be a little deficient. I just can't get excited over the VW Beetle. :/
Nice Daniel i drove a Dattosan 100a during my restauration time working on my ta22 Celica gt
Yeah? Sweet. I jealous :)
Very nice tour there
Thanks you, David :)
in the u.k. there is currently a Cherry Coupe 120a from 1975 for sale, one of 5 known to exist & it needs a bucket load of dollar spent on it...starting price is 5K sterling
that bluebird 510 looks dope
One of their specialities
I thought I missed you saying your name was Derek and welcomed us to the PacificCoast channel! Nice review of the Cherry! 😂
I did see a Laurel C30 in real life about eight years ago when I bought a T50 gearbox for the Carina (still not installed). The seller owned quite a few Datsun classics including a rare C30 with its G18 next to it. The engine was rusted stuck and the owner was wondering if he should put more effort in it or just install a SR20. 😅
Nah, Derek is way more Canadian that me. Also, I'm way more Australian than him. ;-) G18! That's it. Thank you.
WasabiCars I bet your Canadian is better than his Australian! 😋
But I was referring to the excellent walkaround!
I forgot to add in my previous comment that I really love the c pillar look! Makes it look like a mini Skyline c110!
that nissan laurel is cool to see. There was 2 in Vancouver that the president of Nissan Canada had for his personal car
Really? 1st-gens? Wow. I may have to do some googling.
I would gladly take any of those wagons!
The Cedrics? Yeah, they were super tidy. :)
G'day Dan'l. Sweet looking Nissan Cherry. Here in the USA, a later generation is called the Datsun F10. If you've never seen one, check it out. Damn! Awesome collection of cars! I've always liked old-school JDM Japanese cars. My favourite cars are the Datsun PL510 Bluebird, I love the Nissan (Datsun) 230 Cedric sedan and wagon. I love the 1st generation Laurel sedan.
Thanks, Jason. Hey, I do believe I did see am F10. Badged slightly differently though. This car here: czcams.com/video/HEniyqtbHwQ/video.html
Thank you. I may have seen that video. That was the car that was sold here in the USA back in the 70s. The grille is different, but the body looks *exactly* like what was sold. If you look up the F10, you'll see what I mean.
This is a very rare one!.
Certainly it's rare in JP. It's the only van I've seen ever.
In the UK known as estate cars , worked on hundreds of them when I worked at Vauxhall/Datsun dealers , right little rot boxes even brand new ones would always snap wing bolts . remember having to patch up crash jobs but good reliable little cars , was gutted when they dropped Nissan's for Peugeot's .
Oh, I'd prefer Nissans over Peugeots any day of the week. Mind you, I have no clue which might be easier to work on which may be a factor. I liked the look of the Peugeot 505 though.
They were horrible to work on lol
that moment when you want finnish madness but also gotta take the groceries too
a man of culture
I want that Nissan Cedric/Gloria Wagon!
The blue 230? Yeah, that's an absolute stunner. Very cool
Yes, gorgeous!
NICE!!!!
Thank you
damn good for them...and ill share them on my facebook page defenetly
Tell me your page. :)
facebook : joel milhazes has a ferrari has profille pic...white color
Awesome! Thank you :)
zero dislike yay! Btw, this is one of those rare videos when you actually got inside the car lol
Yes, the staff were happy to give full access.
Now living in Germany, there is a very small community of japanese car lovers sadly. Born and raised in Austria, i grew up with these. They were quite popular for their low price tags, as the Japanese were just entering the Austrian market back then. Sadly they all have gone pretty quick.
Oh, that disappointing to hear, but I'm not entirely surprised. It's the way of things. I do hope that there remains even a couple still getting around, and loved by their owners.
Cute car.
Ikr!
awesome cars Daniel! really love the silver silvia. it was in awesome shape! hahaha the type 3. i just saw a late model type 3 with the ugly bumpers today. it was fully restored and looked great.
now that i've seen the green cherry van, don't you think base or mid range models are much harder to find that the top of the line? there are certain cars i never see at mid range for some reason. 🤔
The silver... Laurel? Oh, absolutely. Base, mid-range cars are super hard to find.
my summer car
My summer car! :D
I've just learned of this. I'd love to play... on Linux. :/
;/
Sweeeeeet!
More cars should come with vinyl floor!
Satsuma van lol
Satsuma is a nickname for these?
WasabiCars its from a game called My Summer Car where the main goal is to restore a Datsun 100A, but to refrain from copyright infringements it was renamed Satsuma.
WasabiCars Sorry for late reply and yeah, Satsuma is a name given to an ingame Datsun 100A two door saloon model.
Thank you. That game sounds awesome
Thanks, Mark :)
I would want the coupe if possible, but it may be ages before its possible, just going to hope they are still around in europe in around 2020 and beyond.
I hope you do get one. Just some info. I recently had a guy asking me to track down some parts (not a service I offer), and after making some inquiries, no joy. So, parts are going to be an issue. :(
These little Cherries are pretty cheap here in Finland. You can get a good condition one for about 1500€
It's a nice change after getting used to everything being cheaper in Japan. :p
You might be able to build a business shipping those Cherries back to Japan.
Did the 1967 Cedric have a roll down rear window? And the 757 Mazda decal in the Cherry , I believe that is saying, 7th overall, winner in class. Unbelievable wall of wheels, keep em" coming!
Thanks, Super :)
As for the 130 Cedric, not sure what the deal is. I've seen the car's tail gate inside and out, and I don't see a window winder. I'm confused.
oh my god its a wild satsuma
Perkele!
NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
JUST LIKE MY SUMMER CAR
i wishd id had some day 3 datsun 100as 2 green ones and one red
Me too. I'd love to have this one. It remains a favourite. I have seen some recent pictures of it and it's in the middle of a restoration. It's also blue.
My favourite datsun is the 75 100a coupe
Nice. I would mind one of those :)
Looks a little like a AMC Gremlin!
Similar for sure
@@wasabicars reply if you likes datsuns
sweet :)
Hey, long time no see. Hope you been well. :)
verry well thanx :) yeah i've been kinda off youtube for a while ahaha but i'm back! hope you've been well too :)
I have the 468th Datsun 240z ever manufactured 1969 240z first of five hundred. Numbers matching enigine all original interior. Thoughts on swapping the old engine with a 2013 370z power plant?
My thoughts are that would be terrible. The only cars people cherish are original cars. Sure, modified cars can be works of art and blah, blah, blah, but look at auction prices of tidy, original cars. Even just this week I saw multiple time on my Facebook feed of a tidy, original, and *EARLY* 240Z, and it went for big bucks. But, anyway... So, you want a more powerful, more responsive engine? Buy a newer car. But, anyway... Hey, it's your car and you are free to do what you want with it. So, my final thought is if you do mod it, NEVER tell me.
I. Want it!
Me too, but check it out now: harfees.com/Domestics/car/post-105/
@@wasabicars “403 forbidden” thanks though
I've heard about you guys through Mighty Car Mods...ofcourse...
You've heard about Wasabicars throught MCM??? Seriously?? Nah
Anyone know where to get front brake rotors For this
Datsuns and VW's....my kinda place
Hey, Adam. Hope you're well :)
WasabiCars
Doing good man... doing good. Thank you for asking. Just been working alot.
I had 3 Datsuns, 1 fastback 1200 (72'), 2 Deluxe 1200 (71 and 72'). This Datsun 100A has a similar dash and motor as my Datsuns 1200....
The Datsun 1200, is that a Datsun Sunny?
The 1200 Deluxe, was a Sunny and also the B110.....
My Summer Car?
Did I say my summer car? Another commenter mentioned it. :/
Although the one from the game is a two door sedan model
it's on steam if your interested
Omg.....you're such a character....😋😎
@@wasabicars its like the seagulls from finding nemo saying mine but instead of mine its my summer car lol
i need a datsun 100a sedan in the usa so bad so i can rollplay my summer car
Yes for me to drive aswell
Dan, how much was that Cherry going for, if you don't mind sharing the information?
I did ask and they balked. They of course want to maximize their return. Also, seeing as none come up for sale in Japan, they're probably not sure what to ask.
They sure have quite a gem. So nice of them to let you do a full walk through. Hope to see you in a classic in the future Dan!
is the datsun 100a legal in the US
I'm not from the US, and nor do I deal with car exports, but I believe the main issue with importing to the US is cars not being at least 20 years old. This should be no issue.
@@wasabicars thank you!
The thickest C pillar in all JDM car world. haahahah
Type 3 ‘square back’
Thank you
Is that a mod?
A 'My Summer Car' mod? No. Lol. And not a modified Cherry either
Hello. I’ve watched enough of your videos to know that you like your cars stock. However, let’s pretend you have a stock 1995 (130hp) Gloria wagon, and you want to add more horses (like 70 or 100)to it. Is it even feasible? How would you go about it? An engine swap with a turbo charged Gloria of the same vintage in good condition? Or A turbo or supercharger kit? Or a completely new modern engine and mission? Or, just forget it, and buy a new 2.0 liter 300 hp turbo charged Subaru Levorg? (Least favorite choice as I like the look of older cars in general)
My summer car satsuma
Yes! I haven't played the game. One day I would like to
How often do people buy those old cars?
I need some more context. From *this* shop? Generally?
From car shops and private individuals.
Well, hard to say because I don't have my finger on the pulse with regards to sales. Generally, I'd say the market for classic cars is very, very small. It's near impossible to get parts for older cars here, and hobbiest-restorers hardly exist. Bottom line, not much, not many.
I believe that these were recalled in Ireland because of rust (what else)
Lol. Oh, well.
lol this car of the game My Summer Car?
I believe it is. I really want to play that games but it doesn’t work on linux
@@wasabicars You can get an older pc pretty cheaply that will run it, you should play it, I´m sure you will love it :D
Then we could maybe see WasabiGames channel? :D
I actually know the peeps who made that game, I´m too making a game including racing and repairing old rusty cars that you might come across one day :D
Imagine if the police is going to chase you if we go 100 miles in my summer car
Lol. I did try playing, but I was terrible at it. Never got to go so fast. The car never moved actually
It's SATSUMA.
I've just recently heard about his car and game. I'd love to play
