"AUDIO JUNGLE" Killed me 🤣🤣🤣
Love seeing my content creators interact
In TV production, we refer to this as 'ISO' recording, as in recording a single source in 'isolation'. Mandatory for post production when editing and cutting down.
This is such an insane plugin! The moment you mentioned that you can record gameplay and webcam separately with this plugin without having to resort to weird resolutions, I was hyped! I will try this out soon.
Just putting this here in case it helps anyone else: If you just want to omit one thing from a recording (like a stream border or a vtuber or something) but want to keep multiple other things, you can make a new scene without the element you want to omit and then plop the source record filter right on the scene. Even if you aren't using that scene during the stream, it'll record it without the omitted source.
Sir, I am forever in your debt.
I needed a way to record everything but alerts/alert sounds. But since I monitor and output alert audio it would still catch the alert audio because my main source is my headset. But I made a new scene and put the filter on the scene instead of the specific games and now I can record gameplay, gameplay audio, and mic audio without any alert popup or audio. spent 30 minutes trying to figure out before reading this comment. You sir are a legend.
I'm having an issue where apparently you cant record the same game/desktop at the same time in two separate scenes, did you find a way around this or does it not work.
you are easily the most helpful content creator when it comes to advanced technical questions about streaming and editing. much, much appreciate your videos dude.
sick always wanted to do that
nice!
Bro I’m trying to figure it out rn @TheGodlyNoob
Did not expect to see cav lurking in the shadows here
THANK YOU Doctor! High quality tutorial, amazing graphical production and edits.. OUTSTANDING as always!!
This is simply amazing! I am glad I clicked on this because honestly, I couldn’t tell what the video would be about from the title, but I knew if it was coming from you, it was going to be huge. 😎👌🏾
this is a really cool feature/plugin much respect to the dev!
Thank you. Such a great tutorial. Can’t wait to be able to do this.
Yo this is awesome! I’ve been waiting for something like this!
EposVox, I want to thank you for this video. I learned from you, that the NVENC encoder carries a limit of 3 encoding session at one time. So I used h264 on my 3rd camera and it WORKED!!!
Thank you!
Joe D
Been using this for a weeks now and is awesome.
This solves a lot of problems for me 👍👍👍👍👍
Hey, u made my Day. Now i dont have to change so much stuff for my 2 PC Streaming Setup. I wish i had seen this Video Weeks ago, Thank u very much
Finally a feature that I have been dying to get for ages. Now if only it would stop crashing my obs so frequently XD
This video was an amazing help! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the setup tutorial! If anyone is having an issue where you've assigned your display and webcam to separate folders, and then record, and it's only recording what is currently in your selected display, try the older NVENC. NVENC (new) doesn't work.
Only 1 minute in and a thank you is already in order. 🤝
This is the plugin of my dreams 😍
Wish I could've found this last night when I spent 2 hours trying to setup the multiple instances way of recording right before my stream..... but I'll definitely be trying this in the future.
Needed this Bad , Thank you so very much !!
Great plugin. Thanks for pointing this out.
Oooh, thank you! I struggled with this plugin before, so I'll take this as an opportunity to revisit it - one question though, how does the resource usage of this compare to recording an equivalent capture (i.e. just game / window / display) on a second instance of OBS? Does it still require as much overhead to get the source record as the second OBS does to essentially composite a second, basic scene, or is it less resource-intensive, if you've measured that?
This is awesome, thanks for sharing!
Dude this was great! Going to try it out tonight
Literally looking for this!
I been trying to do this for months and the best I could do required two computers, too easy to mess it up. Thank you.
Thanks a lot, this is absolutely fantastic!
Even just recording the audio separately is a huge deal! If we could now output the audio from e.g. Discord, Skype, etc. into separate sources, interview or collab situations would become much more easy to record and edit.
This will come one handy, thanks for the tips
@Babi Babu TV make multiple audio tracks and set the games audio to one and your voice to another. in the plugin you can set it to only record a specified audio track
With voicemeeter banana you can have 2 audio channels + 1 more channel for a virtual cable, this way you can have discord on your phone and not on stream and much more.
Virtual Camera also shows up as a record mode "activator" a la streaming or recording, good video.
This is really cool, I am thing record camera with mic and game with game audio then reassemble them in resolve but can move the camera around if its covering something you want people to see. Only downside is the background removal records with black background (PNG video would be cool). I reckon adding suffix instead of a prefix is better though as then they sort together in folder.
Congrats on 300k man
This video is pretty sick in terms of technical prowess. Most creators go there very shallow into that matter. But here you are solving big time problems for advanced users. Since the video is quite older I believe also that the plugin should have advanced by quite a bit. So Nvenc should hopefully work by now.
Finally one of the most requested features, ISO RECORDING!!
Thank you. This video was so helpful.
Really useful video, thank you!
This is great! I do love editing, and I love having highlights on youtube, but streaming can also be easier.
Perfect. This can be used to create an alternate vertical version.
Amazing tips. Thanks!
Thank you, you made that soo easy to follow 👌
Oy I needed this holy crap 👀
I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR THIS FOR YEARS! I even started a threat on obs forms years ago
A thread or a threat, because those two are super different 😅
@@amsyarzero awww I forgot my key to decode my message, if an a comes before a t that t is a d.
Thank you
this is awesome! i haven't even installed it yet and my mind already goes wild with all kinds of ideas...
do you happen to know if it's only recording the sources in the currently active scene and shuts down the recording once the scene is switched, thus the source being "offline"? or does it continue to record both? i'm asking, because combined with the automatic scene switcher plugin while live that would make handling the recordings of different games trivial without one requiring to tinker with the game capture or the filter while being live.
Insane tutorial, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Love the office reference in the file path
This looks like a really handy tool. Would never be able to use it for PC games with a 980ti, but for recording external things like MiSTer via OBS this could be very handy indeed. I could stream the software validation project I'm working on for PC Engine CD while recording solid footage for the (unlisted) archive I'm making on my channel for this project, for later review by others without overlays or voice being over the game.
The only real dealbreaker at the moment is the NVENC (new) incompatibility since my older GPU definitely benefits from the efficiency gains. I also don't even have the old NVENC even as an option in OBS, strangely enough. Gonna have to check out that workaround you mentioned.
One thing you may have wanted to mention is the disk IO requirements when recording multiple streams at once like that. Many people record to HDD's still because of the low cost/GB ratio and the size that recordings can take, especially when you save them locally in an archive. I imagine this will pose an issue if they overloaded the IO with multiple simultaneous recordings, so they would need to redirect to multiple drives, or specifically use SSD if just one drive.
Sorry for the diary entry here- just a ton of ideas sprang while watching this. Thanks EposVox!
Honestly, I get what you're saying but I feel like that's a minimal issue in 2022. While many people still use HHDs for storage, because of their= size/price ratio, I don't know anyone who uses one for a primary drive; SSDs have come down in price dramatically. I would see most people recording directly to a primary or 2nd SSD and then moving the footage over to a storage HHD if they need to keep it longer.
It's anecdotal evidence for sure, being my personal experiences; For my setup, I have a 2TB NVMe as my primary drive and then a storage cadge of about 10TB on the side.
Coool video, Thanks for sharing
Thanks! Really usefull!
I bet that's the new dell webcam with 4k :D, thanks for the video been looking for a good way todo this on OBS without multiple instances.
Fairly positive it’s an elgato camera.
Awesome tutorial
Finally. I needed this.
What's that "Now Playing" widget you edited in? I wanna try and get something similar to that for my future stuff.
Not sure if my MB M1Pro could handle stream & record at same time… I’ll have to test this out. What bitrate should I pick to get the best recording? I use A7C as cam
Liked for the sick OSRS gameplay
Another great video! I was wondering what would be the recommended spec for this set up, I know it might be system intensive (Though I have a Ryzen 9 3900x but unfortunatly a stock gtx 1080 since I can't get my hands on a 30 series card), Just wanted to know since I do a lot of twitch streaming and I prefer to upload clean highlights for my CZcams Channel.
This is great!!!
One feature that I hope gets added to this is the ability to record multiple audio tracks. It would make editing streams a lot easier and reduce cpu usage in my case. My current workaround is having 2 source record filters on my gameplay and webcam while also recording my entire scene at the lowest possible video bitrate to capture all my audio tracks.
same here, in this 3 months do you maybe figure out how to do it?
in your 7 months did you figure out how to do it?@@ReAnimee
@@TheOtherGuy123 unfortunately not, i think i found out that it wasnt possibile to do it
Thank GOD for this! Did not want to have to use OBS and streamlabs OBS ruining my pc lol
finally got this set up and semi working. Gameplay footage is recording perfectly, webcam is choppy as all hell for some reason
oh, finally a way to record my screen and camera at full resolution with a single instance of OBS (if I understand well). I used to have to run multiple instances, phew.
This is perfect!
Is there a way to record The game and Webcam but without the orverlays like in SLOBS? I want to ditch slobs and switch to OBS only, but i can't becouse even if i make a group in OBS and turn the Source recording filter to that specific group it captures the whole scene. And i don't want to export videos to youtube with my alerts and overlays. Is there a way to do this ?
this looks cool. I can never seem to get the plugins to work in my OBS though.
That new camera you can’t talk about that i may or may not know about looks great
I was thinking the same thing lmao. 'The Cat' knows what they're doing ;)
OMG THAT VITRUALDUB FOLDER TAKES ME BACK TO MY DAZZLE DVC DAYS! I still have that capture card lmao.
AmaZing video i love it 😍
If you have more than one graphics card can you have more than 3 encodings happening at once? Can you have say 2 x RTX cards or a RTX card + a quatro card? Do AMD cards have such limits. Great video as always thank you!
Lol it was you singing the pokemon town theme for me 😂🔥
Literal god send
Awesome!
is that webcam the OSSBOT with PTZ??
Very neat!
I found a good tip I wanted to share with anyone who may have the same issue. My audio quality from the video only recordings has been awful, and the video itself low as well. My two videos I've done so far suffered from these issues.
With a little playing around in the settings, I found that using the NVENC setting for the video encoder, using CQP and a level of 14 helped my video a lot. The audio was still an issue though, so I decided to set audio channel 6 to only record my Elgato device. I then set the recording filter to use only that audio source, and in tests it has been perfect.
I'll be posting a new video next week with these settings fixed to reflect the changes from the first playthrough I recorded to the second. Hopefully that helps if anyone had the same issues as me. =)
most useful obs tutorial EVER
Great Video! You never went far on the explanation of the replay buffer option in this video, 1. does the OBS replay buffer need to be enabled? 2. is this a case of the filter portion being hidden and then unhidden to capture the replay triggered by a hotkey or TouchPortal type setup? and Lastly 3. would or could the replay duration differ say be set for a lesser time 8secs, as opposed to the OBS setting in the settings menu of say 30 secs. Any chance on a video touching on this subject matter further>>?>>
Thanks Love you Vids
Thanks dude
Be Kind and Rewind. You don't know how true that statement is. When I was much younger, I worked at a local video rental store and there's no telling how many videos a day I had to rewind.
When the sources get individually recorded, will the audio of the particular source ONLY be recorded in there as well? or does that source video include all the audio when recording the scene?
This is amazing- I have to experiment if this filter can be applied to a ‘group’, and how that might interact with scene switching.
I can’t check atm. But if it can’t you can move your group to a nested scene and it would work on that
if your still wondering, applying it to a group worked for me. but it wont record both my desktop audio and mic audio.
@@kodaxmax That's cool, but also a bit unfortunate. It's all so close to providing what I need, but even Streamlabs implementation falls short.
this is awesome
u are great bro .
Nice!
thank you guy
Didn't see this mentioned in the video, but maybe I missed it. Are you able to do replay buffer of 2 sources? So replay buffer of game source and webcam source simultaneously? Didn't notice mention of it in the replay buffer section or the "Webcam recording, too!" section, but that would be sick.
wondering the same :(
Man look. I used your old one but it wS confusing and it stopped working. Maybe I'm a simp but thaaaaank u soooo much!
I do editing for some streamers who have extremely busy alerts and overlays that clog up the editing. I recommended something like this (or loading portables of OBS to record separately).
The main pushback I get is the concern that this will consume resources that they would rather have dedicated to their gaming experience (frames win games bla bla bla). Since my games don't require heavy resources it's hard for me to benchmark any kind of difference on my end to reassure clients. They also seem to prefer to just send me twitch clip links to use, which means they would rather not upload a full stream to the cloud.
Still trying to find a happy medium, but any advice about resource use would be great
Dumb question, but I'm guessing recordings made with this plugin are set to OBS' canvas resolution and not the sources native resolution?
So to clarify, if I had everything set to 720p in OBS but had a 4K or 1440p res gameplay source I'd resized, the recording generated by the plugin would be 720p?
@eposvox there are new options for encoding regarding nvidia, h264 h265, etc do you have a video covering those new settings in source record for RTX turing gpus?
Is it possible to record 3 different sources to 3 different tracks via the source recording?
Hello EposVox! Is there a way to record multiple audio tracks onto the Source Record output? Or such feature doesn't exist yet? Thanks!
This is beauty for us music streamers who can't save VODS because of DMCA
Excellent tutorial on an awesome resource.
By chance is there anybody who has encountered a problem using the Source record on your webcam source when using a Green Screen? I have been finding that all the recordings straight from my webcam I get have the greenscreen showing up as gray, whereas it is properly Chroma Keyed on my actual live feed/ regular recording without using Source Record. Anybody know how to fix this?? I can't seem to find anything about it after searching.
thaaaaaaaaaaaaanks!!
Wait, that's sick! Now I need a decent priced GPU!
This might be a silly question but this still will take the audio from the source file as well correct?
So, basically, this lets record what is called "clean feed" in the broadcast world.
This is awesome!!
@Babi Babu TV You probably already figured this out, but in OBS if you go to Edit > Advanced Audio Properties, you can output all of your different audio channels to any of 6 tracks. Then when you open the file in your video editing software, those audio sources should be in their own track according to how you've checked the boxes in OBS. This way you can mute or otherwise adjust the volume for each audio source separately. Hopefully that makes sense lol.
Is this supposed to add several MS in average time to render frames? went from .7ms not streaming but game up, to 3.5ms just by making plugin source visible. Great video as always!
It has to make new canvases to record separate sources so the render load will scale
Does this allow for doing buffer replay on multiple sources at once? Like save the last 5 minutes of my camera and gameplay separately?
So let's say I put this filter on my desktop capture, can I put it on my camera as well and have them record simultaneously as 2 separate files? That would help so much instead of doing 2 OBS instances. Any advice for that would be great! Edit: nevermind lol I see now
As soon as you said "plugin" and "from the amazing..." I knew this was Exeldro's work 😅
i stumbled across this video now and was wondering:
is there a way to exclude overlays in the VOD on Twitch? You know like it is possible with background music?
