    It was a blast from the past to hear Dean Barlow's name after being out of the game for the last 25 years. My fishing and match fishing days were in the 80s & 90s, and I bought the Angling Times & Anglers Mail every week. I remember reading Frank Barlow's section every week - was it called 'On the bank with Big Frank' or something like that?
    Anyway, I remember reading Frank's stories and seeing 'our Dean' written into a lot of his match fishing exploits, and it's nice to see him carrying on his old man's legacy because Frank was/is sorely missed 👍

    Jon. I think you're the country's top angler. An inspiration to ALL fishermen. You're just as enthusiastic fishing you're local river/canal for a few roach as you are when competing in the big matches. Love that dedication and excitement you generate in all you're fishing escapades.

    Great stuff as always Jon! It's a shame about those large black-winged things. I've watched them ruin many a place round my way and they're now getting brave and moving into the busy town centre areas too. It'll only be once the kingfishers and herons are affected badly by the lack of food that anything will get done I fear.

    Hi Jon. I wish i had have know you were a Tamar lakes as i would have come to visit you. I moved to Devon 3yrs ago and live only 10miles from the lakes, if ever you are down this way again with your fishing you are welcome to stay. I live in a 6 bed farmhouse with plenty of space, for more info you can speak with Paul. Say hello to your Mum and Dad and Brother

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Stuart, such a nice surprise to hear from you and know you're down in Devon now! It was only a week or so ago I was telling someone about that big 16lb 8oz carp I caught at Bascote fishing with Paul, which I think you photographed. I have a photo somewhere with dear old Tess in the background. Hope you are managing to do a bit of fishing down there. Tamar is a great venue and it sounds like Lower Tamar is even better if you want quality fish. I keep looking at Stafford Moor matches too, so might be in the area again next year and will be trying to make the Feeder Champs Final again for sure, so maybe I will get in touch if I do. I stopped at the Bickford Arms, Brandford Corner if you know it. All the very best and hope you are having a great time in Devon. Lovely part of the country... other than the narrow roads! :-)

I live in a 6 bed old farmhouse just next to Beaworthy village, so plenty of room for visiting guests. Still not fished Tamar lakes yet as i normally go to the many smaller venues in the local area. You would be welcome to stay with me and my brother and 4 x cocker spaniels any time you,re fishing down this way. Madworthy is the house name EX21 5AD. Have a good Xmas Stu Horne.

    After watching 3 video from the FM finals, there's a similar story being told. Fishing is below average, the birds of black death are problematic, and the organization was very good.. It's a shame Dean's 17lb was only counted as 5 lb really.
    Never the less, the anglers still put in a great effort. In a final that was a who's who of top names in the game, it was a forgone conclusion that the quality of performances was nothing short of excellent. With Tamar wedged firmly in an out of the way corner, a lot of those taking part had a long way to go.
    Thanks for showing how your weekend went Jon. TTFN.

    • @sjmclean0

    • @JonArthur
      @JonArthur  Před 2 lety +1
