Flat Earther Fails to Fake a JWST Image - Pseudoscientist #9

  • Today we're looking at a flat earther who decided to show how easy it is to fake images from the James Webb space telescope. Unfortunately several things were not considered, and they didn't exactly make they point they were trying to make
    My channel is primarily about addressing pseudoscience, debunking conspiracy theories, and sifting out science fact from science fiction.

      They know absolutely nothing about absolutely everything. It should be embarrassing and shameful to them but instead they flaunt their ignorance like it is a badge of honor. Very puzzling. But at least they haven't thwarted anything as far as space exploration. Just petty nuisance's on CZcams

    I once had the pleasure of working with a flatearther. He tried showing me a video of various photographs compared side by side, one of a NASA photo and the other of those takes by regular people. My response was telling him a $400 camera will have different quality in images than that of a $4 million camera.

    Good old flatearthers and their 'this doesn't look the way I think it should, must be fake' logic. Because we all know that flat earthers know more about every relevant field than people who dedicate their entire life to it.

  • @PrometheusZandski
    @PrometheusZandski Před 8 měsíci +20

    I think the biggest mistake here is that telescopes don't capture pictures. Every modern telescope used by scientists captures digital data from an array of sensors in multiple spectra. These data sets can be hundreds to millions of gigabytes of data. You can download these data sets and create the pictures yourself. You can compare data sets taken by different telescopes of the same object and see they aren't copies, but real sets of captured data describing the same object.

    • @certhass
      @certhass Před 8 měsíci +2

      well, if you go that way than no digital camera captures picture, the sensor just detects how many photons hit a pixel and the hardware of the camera transfers that data into a picture. but yes, telescopes themself don't capture pictures, just like a lens of a camera. but cameras attached to telescopes do capture fotos. ofc. all scientifically used cameras only produce black/white pictures. then they have to get processed (stacked, sharpened, denoised, colorized - by defining colors for each filter that got used when taking the foto,... )to look like what we get to see when they show them to us.

    • @whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306
      @whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306 Před 8 měsíci +2

      Don't pretend or expect a flat earther to understand anything about telescopes. They haven't even figured out how a lens works much less getting into other frequencies.

    That reminds me of the early stages of my IT career, translating manuals and software. To get the translations correct I had to learn a lot about that software, how it worked and its background and fundamentals in both languages, so I badgered our typesetter, our photographer and our photo editor, each of them experienced, trained and educated masters in their own field. Even though I got the translations correct I didn't become an expert in any of their fields and I would never claim to be.

    Some points of note. The diffraction spikes can be removed and added computationally. Iirc, the fallowing programs allow this to be done: pixinsight, gnu octave (bring your own code), fitswork and imageJ. You can also produce the stars computationally, but as soon as nebula and galaxies are involved, creating them become far more exoensive computationally.

    I think the main reason that the Moon appeared to get smaller is because the foreground was getting darker which led to the Moon getting less overexposed.

    Welcome to The List. "What list?", you may ask. The list of Tubers I am going to try my best to avoid in the future. Just because you have a webcam & a CZcams account doesn't mean you should be posting videos.

    let's also point out that not only does perspective dictate that objects appear to get smaller as they get farther away, but the speed that they appear to lower will slow down the farther away they are. that video shows the uniform movement of the moon, but due to perspective the moon's apparent setting would slow down.
    of course, let's not leave out that normal people can easily calculate the effects of perspective so that we know that the sun, moon, stars or planets can never set on flattardia. it just isn't large enough. in fact the flattardia sun or moon can't get within 20 degrees of the horizon.

    Dave is so lazy.
    In that second video which be "borrowed" he had only one job: to credit the "ORININAL" creator.
    At least he didn't spell it "urinal".

    You have to be bad at cameras to be a flat earther. It’s a tautology.
