      @@agnidas5816What are you on? Charles didn’t have heart disease. Get your facts straight. He was very public about the genetic condition that affected his heart since he lost his father, who actually did have genetic heart disease. Absolutely nothing to do with their diets, but it’s not your expertise so no surprise you wouldn’t know.

    Poliquin is out there, totally agree with some stuff he says and then sometimes I am taken back by it. I've watched a bunch of his videos so I'm not just basing that off one video. His reputation training athletes is one of the very best and there's no debating that. He has trained Olympic athletes and made them into winners. I wouldn't take everything he says to heart but give some things a try and if it works for you then great, if not then go back to the drawing board.

    I was really hyped about Gotu Kola for loose skin, but after some digging I found a study called Hepatotoxicidad asociada al consumo de Centella asiática by O. A. Jorge y A. D. Jorge, 3 cases were people with no previous medical history had liver problems after taking Gotu Kola or Centella asiática for a few weeks/months and improved after suspending its use alongside with UDCA supplementation.
    Careful out there people, talk to your doctor before taking anything and do your research!

    Advancements in the field of neuroscience as it relates to neurotransmitters effecting athletes, and even non-athletes performance will come to define the next generation in performance enhancement. Charles was on to something here. He didn’t have the training to explicate what he was observing in purely medical terminology...but he saw how crucial of a role it played in his athletes performance, most of whom were at the pinnacle of their sports. We understand how to control performance through diet, training, and manipulating hormones. It is only logical that neurotransmitters are next.

    Are some of the benefits from diets like the carnivore diet perhaps from the absence of things rather than their presence? Is the carnivore diet more of an elimination diet than anything else? I am not discounting the benefits of omega-3’s and other nutrients that may be present in some meats, just wondering. The topic of diet and health is so complex! Most of the food available to me in the stores is crap. The last good veggies I have eaten were my own grown out of soil amended from my compost pile.

    • @ThomasAT86
      @ThomasAT86 Před 8 lety

      +Pareto8020 There is a LOT of confusion and misinformation on supplements! Even from a lot of "experts". And just keep in mind that there is a lot of money involved in this industry, therefore the research towards negative effects etc will be very little. Obviously we can't even measure exactly what a single vitamin/mineral/trace mineral will do over the long-run due to so many variables involved, it's an experiment, we can only guess and see tendencies (it's like the studies on the effects of meat, most of them are crap). I always keep in mind that it's not like nature provides that stuff for us (vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, enzymes, protein, carbs, fat, water are always found in combination), so I try to keep an open mind and to focus on food, meditation, water,....instead of supplements (the placebo effect, as studies have shown, also do a great deal). Paul Chek has some great insight on that topic (you can find some videos on CZcams).

    Having just listened to the Pavel interview, who strongly recommends the kettlebell swing and goblet squat as top daily movements, and listening to Charles list 5em as ones on his no go list, I find these. differences interesting - but I guess it also comes down to context and target population. If goals are to maximise weight lifting the most weight in lifts that work in the vertical plane, maybe those aren’t the best, but if just looking to be more well-rounded and for dynamic strength they could be useful....

      I’ve learned from both. And I love both of their content. My best guess is he dislikes the KB swing because there are more optimal ways to train what you are doing with the on swing - ie clean, hang clean etc. I’ve found for general population the KB swing is great with less technique needed for those lifts I mentioned.

    • @drh2098
      @drh2098 Před 4 lety

      I will agree with you that Charles is a bit heavy on the bro science but he’s definitely correct in putting emphasis on dopamine/serotonin and how they effect performance. Anybody who’s trained as an athlete or trained athletes finds that you hit walls oftentimes that are difficult to pinpoint simply from the diet or training regimen. The neurotransmitter “question” thus adds another layer of depth when addressing performance issues with athletes. Poliquin is kind of like the Adolf Hitler of fitness in many ways.
