  • In this video, I explain how the new Genos Playlist function can be used instead of the obsolete Music Finder feature which was found on the older Tyros series of instruments.
    You can download the Bonus Playlist For Genos from this link:

      Well done Tony!
      Great video answering many questions on Tyros Music Finder versus Genos Playlist.
      I don't think Yamaha really appreciated how popular Music Finder was even if it was somewhat dated compared with Korg's Pa4x Songbook and Set List function. I am sure many Genos owners and like me, a potential Genos owner, will now be happier to own one knowing that Tyros Music Finder records can be copied over to Genos. And your follow up video is also excellent and a 'must watch' on how to expand the 'Example' Playlist files already in Genos, by logging in to Yamaha support and downloading more Playlist songs. So with both systems on board Genos, thanks to your efforts Tony with these two videos, Genos becomes a more desirable keyboard.

    Thanks a lot for these helpfully tutorials! It works great and I´ve got a lot to do for sight seeing the whole registrations. As a former Ketron user I must create new registrations for the whole repertoire and with the Music Finder and the Genos additional playlist I can save much time! Thanks one more time!

      You must extract the file: Tyros5_MFW_de_728.mfd, out from the zip-folder and copy or move into the USB-stick root directory no folders the naked file. Genos can´t detect the file in a folder and can´t also unzip! The Genos playlist files are in folders. So you must copy or move just the mainfolder named: PlaylistForGenos, on USB. Hope I could help you. ;-)

    Norway calling. I still have my Tyros5 and am keeping it for the time being,but I have a few questions about the playlist.
    1. Tyros MF has a limit 2500 songs. What about Geno's playlist? If you transfer MF appr. 2000 and download this first example playlist (500?), Is it full? Or are there no limits?
    2. Does playlist also give you some dedicated intros?
    3. I can put my own midi (kar)files in the MF as a song. Will this be the same on the Geno's playlist?
    4. I'm a little sceptical about removing the 500GB drive... the 64 GB flash is A LOT LESS.
    Thanks for a really good and informative session. This will help me to decide a possible upgrade.

    Well organized presentation of the unique differences. Too many other CZcams comparisons are obviously unprepared, seat-of-the-pants play only (they emphasize "play only" -- go figure) or rambling talk. Others compare tech specs, things anyone can find on the manufacturers website. Bonners becomes my go-to site for valuable information. LIKED and SUBSCRIBED.

    December 11, 2021, Hello I tried this unzipped the file and put it into the powered on Genos, and saw the title under USB, and the folders all came up but won't open. Can you help? Also, I think my brand new machine is defective. I will play for about 5 minutes and there is right 2 and 3 are still playing in the background and I have everything shut off except for the power. I don't understand this. I am not even holding down keys and this is still happening until I power off and factory reset and the same thing again. Please help.

    Genos is the new reference point for sound and technology, I come from the Tyros 3 and Tyros 5! and I have to say that the Genos has the best sound quality! which contains the Tyros flagships! since the Genos 2 came out for Christmas I buy the Genos 1 to save money!

    When showing the screen it appears to be very dull.The way it is shown to us is with the lights put out as you can see the hands in shadow .I hope this docent mean i will have to dim the light when i am practicing.Can you explain why its shown that way thank you Ray a Tyros 5 owner

    • @bonnersmusic
      @bonnersmusic  Před 6 lety

      Hello Raymond, thank you for the comment. The reason we dimmed the lights is so that you could see the screen on the video because of the angle that the video needed to be shot. The screen is backlit on the Genos and very clear to see when you are sitting directly in front of it, but because the Camera is off to one side for this Video it made it more difficult to see with the reflection of the lighting on the screen.

    I was going to buy a Yamaha Tyros 5 or at least thought I decided to buy a Tyros 5 last October but in the end I
    decided not to ( although I still feel tempted to take out my savings on one! ). I have decided to leave it a few
    years, maybe if I still want an arranger/workstation I could go big and buy a Yamaha Genos or if Genos is too
    far out of my budget I could buy a Yamaha PSR-SX700 or SX900.

  • @mwarnas
    @mwarnas Před 4 lety

    The problem isn't that we don't understand it. The problem is that (a) Music Finder allowed you to figure out which songs worked with certain styles (so it could answer the question 'what the heck is this style good for?!') and (b) the Playlist search function is terrible. It barfs up a lot of results (or none) and rarely if ever is it what you want, which is that the relevant settings are loaded and you can just go. Somehow I also have to add the search result to a playlist first, before I can play the song. Terrible, terrible. Genos is a great keyboard, but would it kill Yamaha to have a look at this and just give us what we want?
