Hey i just wanted to mention that instead of using wood at all, you could try gluing 3 to 5 pieces of cardboard together, it would be a lot easier to cut to any size or shape that you'd need as well, i do this all if the time with my jewelry pieces, i use cereal or cracker boxes, etc.
