  • I'm using Dollartree faux leather to create lightweight earrings. I'm also using several punches and my Sizzix Big Shot to cut the faux leather.

Adorable wee bobbles. Love them. And they are a great jumping off point to add as you mentioned beads and glitters and embossing and on and on. I never thought about using a punch and they came out so well. I do think most of these faux leathers need to be flipped back in two layers like you've done today. I never thought about using a glue sheet machine. I have several and kinda gave up using them a year or two ago. I have vision problems a macular wrinkle/fold in one eye and on hold with 2-4 visits a year with an eye surgeon/specialist while we wait until I guess I scream uncle. The two eyes to not play well together. As in won't focus on one spot so I often find I've got one eye closed or the better eye is taking over but still it messes up getting things together due to both eyes suffer with double vision too. I've been battling this since 1997. So not new. I've come up with lots of tricks to help out. My newest experiment to avoid using liquid glues etc. is to rub the item across dot sheets. We R Memories makes some as do others. However I don't feel the glue is strong enough for this type of material to hold up over time or if it got hot. No one would want a droopy earring. Poor Mikey as he slides off the bottom...just thinking out loud here. I've got quite a few adorable metal die shapes to cut out and use as earrings. But love the wee punch out shapes that I don't think I have any of. I'm off to run through my collections now. Thank you and I'll be checking with your on going videos with these dollar store finds.

Thank you, I have all the supplies in my craft area, so I’ll be trying out your terrific idea. Also I’ve seen jump rings at the Dollar tree and maybe clasps but I don’t think ear wires.

Those are adorable earrings. I have some of the faux leather, but I haven't used it yet.

Is there a way that I can stiffen the faux dollar tree leather? I just bought some today and made a few earrings, but I wish they were just a taddddddd bit more on the stiff side!! Thanks for sharing 😉

Thanks for watching. Might try Gluing cardstock between the two layers of the faux lather before cutting them out. Depending of course on how stiff you want it to be

You could add heat transfer vinyl on the back

I did that last year when I made a name key ring. It worked pretty well except that I used DT construction paper (I think). I also used glitter HTV on top. It lasted for about a year before it came apart. The red leather looks a bit worn, but I think because it was usually attached to my purse or my son's lanyard when he used the car.

Where do you buy die cuts.

I bought most of my dies from Tuesday morning, but sadly they went out of business. I’m sure you can just buy any dies that you can find that simple and easy to cut out or you could hand cut something out.
