I am always amazed to see the real personality of someone that has created such an iconic character. She's a wonderful actress and hilarious as all get out.
She's so talented, that I had to keep reminding myself, she ISN'T Miss Mapp, of course she has none of that pomposity. A mark of her genius that she made Miss Mapp (Of the Mapp & Lucia series, of course) a lovable character, despite the snobbishness.
I believe that John Cleese felt that they had explored the situation fully and that producing any more episodes would degrade the content. Yes Minister/Prime minister followed the same philosophy. This seems to have been the case with many of the top British comedies: always leave the public wanting more.
@@stoolpigeon4285 I see, then I agree with you. Unfortunately Prunella is now suffering dementia so this sort f interview could be onerous to her. All the cast are of advanced age. I think that they probably look back fondly at their time on this programme. Nicky Henson, of course, died recently.
@@patricias5122 Yes both nice series really and well played by her of course so then too. Also I guess After Henry too. First on BBC Radio 4; then when the BBC decided not to show it, writer Simon Brett took it to Thames Television who then did it for the ITV network. Of course it reunited Prunella with Joan Sanderson as her mother, from the episode of Fawlty Towers that they were both in before it of course so then too. Thank you!
Such a Darling person, Prunella is. Loved her on the Canal Journeys with Timothy. Nothing seemed to phase her. I so enjoyed their journey to India, I picked up in that episode that she was getting tired and when she said I want to go home, she has had enough. Her eyes spoke un-uttered words. I so wish her well, yet she seems to have had a very good life, she loves her two sons, and I think we should just let her have each day to the full, i.o.w. allow Prunella to do what and how much she can manage. Timothy will be at her side, he is a very understanding husband. I am sure it is not easy for him to see his precious wife coping with this cursed condition. Just be there for her. Wishing them well and may he be strengthened each day. He is not in a good season presently.
Hilarious Loved when Basil was checking on the girl that a man had in his room and found out it was his mother- also, the one with the German family, and the "She go crazy" episode
Absolutely loved her as Sybil on FT - that laugh she had sure sounded like someone machine-gunning a seal (as John Cleese described it lol), sad to hear she has been suffering from dementia for the last 10 years or so
My name, isss Reginald Arthur the 3rd Weatherbyyyy ...and I'mmm, the voice runninggg 🏃♂️ through the woods nakeddd ...for the Isle of Brittainiaaaa ❤💙 ...ahhuh huh, haa, haa, haaa, ...righttt nowwww
Fawlty Towers was the best television ever made !
Prunella Scales - you were brilliant in the show!
She SHOULD be well aware. After all: "OOOOOH I KNOOOOOW"

I can just hear her now "BASIL!!!"😅
Very hard work behind the scenes but made to look easy on screen. True professionalism.
Wish this was much longer. Why can you find hours of inane drivel by the latest celebs who haven't lived, yet this subtle, intelligent lady is elusive
exactly! I loved Fawlty Tower and Mapp & Lucia, so many other wonderful roles she played.

@@brianaustin5467 I meant the interview not the series, in this case

Always my favourite character, and as we've seen since Faulty Towers, a lovely lady too.
Loved Faulty Towers, and Sybil shouting BASIL, BASIL and the look of terror in his eyes,
Best sit-com...........simply timeless !!!!!!!!!
What a brilliant line from the old ladies about psychiatrists "I'm sure they have them in Birmingham too" Priceless.
Incredibly eloquent and a national treasure
2:05 "I'm sure they have them in Birmingham too" . I love that line. It seems like there is a back story we should know about.
What a lovely woman and magnificent talent!
Loved faulty towers watched it again on Netflix
Prunelle Scales was also great as actor in Fawlty Towers

Brilliant actress. Loved the show! Have the box set
I always had a crush on Prunella.
She was gorgeous as Sybil, she was my favourite character ❤
Get in the queue!
Hilarious Loved when Basil was checking on the girl that a man had in his room and found out it was his mother- also, the one with the German family, and the "She go crazy" episode
Reporter: Please do not mix character and actor.
Sybil, that golfing puff adder!
Try not to drive over any land mines dear!
Damn , why can't these be longer 😩
Beat comedy series ever. Yes Minister comes in at a close Number 2
She was the best
she was the best. The one person we all remember. I know, I know lol
Gorgeous woman.
Crikey! She makes the Queen sound like Monica Rose !!
... that's going back a bit!
Ha! A thumbs up for the Monica Rose reference!
In a way, she left me speechless…..I did not anticipate her emotional state.
The casting was perfect!
That is interesting to hear, knowing John's disdain for hard work during Monty Python movies.
Blimey, she's posh!
Great lady
top actor , thanks for the nice time
“Actress”
She's 7 years older than John, I never realised that.
And barely seemed to have aged at all here....
@@losttango That's plastic surgery for you
“BASIL!”
More please
Poor Prunella now suffering from dementia
Indeed. But thankfully she has led a very full life.
She seems almost depressed by the banality of the questions.

Basil! Basil! Basil!
"...rehearsing your knickers off..."?
I didn't see that episode.
The interviewer should get some lessons.
How old is this clip?
When was this recorded?
About 2005.
Prusela alo
I had no idea she was so posh
rehearing until what?
Rehearsing your knickers off until we actually recorded on sunday night.
@@organfairy I would have loved to have been there at the time to see that 😂
@@organfairy More polite way of saying work your arse off.
@@pauljordan4452 That's the word she wanted to use first, but smoothly worked around 😁
It is a great shame on 12 episodes were made
She is so posh. She was really miscast as the Queen because she makes ER look like a barmaid in Eastenders.
