I found this:
The Spanish dollar coin was worth eight and could be physically cut into eight pieces, or "bits," to make change -- hence the colloquial name "pieces of eight." The dollar coin could also be cut into quarters, and "two bits" became American slang for a quarter dollar, or 25 cents.
'Reales' (real) is the word the narrator uses, which is the monetary unit of Brazil. Hope this helps!

This video is absolute rubbish. You completely skip over important things like fiat currency, central banking, gold standard, inflation, etc. You reveal your bias when you say "money finally reached the digital age" as if money is somehow better now when in actuality it's never been easier to counterfeit, manipulate, steal, and launder than ever before. Virtual goods will never outvalue physical goods.
