    The way you opened up the gauge is also an old school Hack people use a lot of times to set the mileage back on analog speedometers. It has gotten so bad that when I go look at buying a dual sport motorcycle, or anything with a analog speedometer, I check to see if the cap has been opened up with a screw driver. Sooo many times I have not purchased a bike because this hack was done. Very easy to spot due to the fact you have to mash that lip back down when you put it back together, and can plainly see where the prying marks were. Great job though. I picked up a newsed 99 GTX Limited the other day that needs this done. 👍

    How about if you get a B-1655 lock out code? And how do you clear the code? (2005 GTX)

    Was the polarizer film you used clear? Only stuff I can seem to find is tinted? Or is that correct?

    I did this for my 01 seadoo gtx rfi and the gauge quit working afterwards. Any idea what happened or what to check?

    This has been a lot of help so far! My circuit board doesn't want to slide to push the screen out. Any suggestions?

    krylon satin iris paint is a pretty good match to repaint that front weathered plastic just FYI, otherwise using a propane torch to melt it from a distance works pretty good too

    Can't you just replace this with an analog gauge from another Seadoo?

    OSD Marine sells a kit for 16 bucks to redo this too

    So why put another film on it?

    • @atthelake7637
      @atthelake7637  Před 4 lety +1

      The polarizing film is part of the design of most every LCD display of this type without it the display can not produce a legible image. This is why even putting the new film on oriented wrong renders the display completely unreadable. Please see google for pictures and further information.

    Where did you get the film?

    • @atthelake7637
      @atthelake7637  Před 4 lety +3

      I got mine off Ebay. It is readily available as LCD polarizing film on Amazon and many other sites. I would start with about a 2.75" square and then trim to fit once you have the gauge apart. If the film you buy isn't marked for orientation then leave the inner adhesive protection on it and try it on the powered up gauge to be certain you have it correct.

      In my case, I didn't get the film in my country. I found a broken TV screen and cut part of the film and put it on the screen. It works great!

      Thanks for sharing. I have Kawasaki jetski’s. The fuel and oil level and RPM are visible on the film when the cluster is not powered up. This mush mean those parts are printed on the film?

    You can do away with all the DESS crap with an aftermarket MPEM, as they are not lanyard specific and are relatively affordable at between $90-$120

    What kind of plastic and where do I buy it to replace on my gauge

    • @keltingr2612

      OSD Marine sells a kit or get polarizing film on eBay with adhesive on it
