  • Walk Summary
This Thieves Moss, Moughton Scars and Norber Erratics walk from Clapham in the Yorkshire Dales takes approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes.
We walk from Clapham in the Yorkshire Dales, taking a short climb up a walled lane. We then walk along Long Lane, a track which forms part of the Pennine Bridleway. A cairn shortly after leaving Long Lane affords views of Ingleborough and Little Ingleborough and a wonderful 360-panorama that also takes in Pen-y-ghent on the horizon in the direction of Moughton Scars.
We continue walking along the Pennine Bridleway before dropping down onto and through the limestone pavement at Thieves Moss and through Moughton Scars.
From here we head across Crummack Dale to arrive at Norber, where many unusual Erratics can be found. Erratics are rocks that have been transported by glaciers and the movement of ice and are usually a different composition to the underlying bedrock on which they came to rest.
We then walk down the walled lanes back down into Clapham

WALKING BOOTS Unless very wet or winter walking, my preference is boots/shoes without ankle support - that's not for everyone though. Having used fell running shoes for many years, I prefer the lightweight feel.
INOV-8 Trailfly Ultra G300 Max: New to me in 2022, now the choice for 70%+ of my spring and summer walks. Training shoe cushioning, but fellshoe grip and stability - getting many best in test awards.

Stunning video again - really like the way you do these - I’m certainly a fan. In the Dales again this weekend, so giving this a try - looking forward to getting some photos of the Norber Erratics - I’d never heard of them before.

Thank you - glad you are enjoying 👍 Some of the boulders at Norber do make for great photos. The weather isn't looking too good for you this weekend though, but hopefully you'll get some breaks in the rain for photographs...enjoy the walk 🙂

Another great video. I don’t know of any other channel that does a *full* walkthrough of the entire route. Also enjoy it at the end of your videos where you give details of places to get refreshments.
    One idea
I don’t know how much work would be involved - but have you considered releasing “slow TV” versions of your videos? Full length videos, without your characteristic speeding up between points of interest, without narration - just the raw footage with the sounds of birds and the steady crunch of your footsteps as you do the walk? I’d certainly love an 8 or 9 hours version of your Yorkshire Three Peaks walk in this format!

I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. A few people have asked that, and it is something I am planning to do for some of the walks, as they have said they'd just like to be taken around in real time. Due to the way I have filmed them, I can't get real time versions from what I have already filmed, but I now have a way of doing it, so am planning to do some going forward, but maybe starting with some shorter 1-2 hour walks first.

Great video and walk. I've only really tried Ingleborough from Clapham, so will try this next time I'm back in the area. Just shows you don't have to climb mountains to wonderful views.

Thanks 🙏 There are quite a few similar walks possible from Clapham. I’ve a few more walks planned from Clapham and Austwick this summer
