*Walk Description*
This Ingleton Waterfalls Trail walk starts in the car park at the trail's start in Ingleton, Yorkshire Dales and takes about 2 hpours to complete, but allow longer to take in the views!
There is an entrance fee to pay.
We leave the car park and follow the well-made riverside path upstream along the river Twiss, where we soon pass by a money tree.
After heading through Swilla Glen, we then cross the river Twiss by a footbridge. We pass back over it by another footbridge called Pecca Bridge, which affords the first views of the lower parts of Pecca Falls. We then continue on the path alongside the river Twiss as it passes by the upper parts of Pecca Falls.
Pecca Falls is actually a collection of five waterfalls which drop 30 metres over the slate and sandstone. After Pecca Falls, we quickly arrive at Hollybush Spout, and then, in the clearing, we reach Thornton Force on this Ingleton Falls walk.
We then leave the river Twiss and head to the river Doe for the return to Ingleton, with views of Ingleborough ahead. On reaching the river Doe, the first falls you see are the Beezley Falls.
These are soon followed by the Rival Falls, before reaching the smaller waterfalls through Baxenghyll Gorge. Further down the path, you can look back towards the Snow Falls. After that, we cross over another footbridge and leave the river, passing by the disused Storrs Quarry before heading back through the centre of Ingleton to reach the car park.

    Just wanted to say thank you. Followed the long route today and your video was a massive help! Took 2 hours 38 mins with some stops to take the sights in. Just one note I wanted to make, at 30:24 you mention walking down the right side of the wall, this was very over grown today, there was a couple behind me who went to the left of the wall which seemed and cleaner and level path to take, it does take you further down at the reservoirs but we met back up after our two routes. I'd prob take that one next time Again thanks for the vid, subscribed.

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all Před 9 dny

      I'm glad you found the video useful and enjoyed the walk. Thanks for subscribing! I walked down that side as well a couple of days ago and would have to admit it is starting to get a little overgrown - the upside was 2 deer's were in the stream just past the bridge. United utilities, whose land it is do normally cut it back, but with the new bit of fencing, making the path a little narrower in places it does feel overgrown. I probably should have said July-November, until it starts to die away to maybe avoid that path and just follow the road, as the path can get overgrown. They are doing some work currently on the Upper reservoir, so hopefully when they are done there, they might cut back a bit along the path.

      Glad you enjoyed the video. I do find Whernside the easiest as well to walk out of the 3 Peaks....following the way shown, there are no steep stepped climbs as there are with the other two - for some reason I always feel as though I've not done as much climbing when I reach the top, and I do find the views from the top better than the other two.

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all Před 12 dny

      Unfortunately I don’t think it is, as I believe united utilities own aitken wood - so in theory you’d need their permission. I have seen a few people camp on the top of Pendle Hill itself from time to time, including one yesterday who was still in bed and snoring when I past about 6.30! Again not sure on legalities of it, but maybe one for Halloween 🎃 🧙

Yes, cathedral caves are very near to Slater Bridge - I was going to include them on this walk, but there were a couple of school parties there when I passed and I try not to get children on the videos. About 2-300 metres before you reach slater’s bridge, the caves are on your left and well worth a visit. If u look on an OS map, not often named but just says quarries(disused).

      Glad you found the video useful. The steps are quite a bit steeper than the gravel path…but you can stop and have a rest on both routes to enjoy the views! I find the view better going up the steps, so generally do it that way round as my knees much prefer the gravel down instead of the steps down, but you could do gravel both ways, which TBH is probably the easier route.

      It has a slot on the front that I’ve always presumed was for donations, so I guess it would take coins. I’ve only ever used their online donations page…

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all Před měsícem

      It was last July pre school holidays. Very early start. I can’t remember which day but it was midweek. There is a section on the ydnp website for anyone organising an event to register their event. Not everyone does, but I just avoided the days when I could see lots of people were planning to walk it. The penyghent section I did again the day after so I had the sun behind me…

    Absolutely the most informative and enjoyable walk I have ever viewed. 50 years+ since I completed this walk and pleased to the improvements made to assist walkers. i.e, pavers, boardwalk, etc. I now live in Australia and getting on in years and was thrilled to 'take this walk with you', brought back so many memories. Thank you again. Now subscribed, I look forward to viewing your previous walks and new postings. 🏁🚸

I filmed in almost Australian weather - one of the few days we had the sun!! Hopefully, you’ll enjoy some of the other videos…

    Is it possible to camp at the bottom of malham cove?

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all Před 3 měsíci

      TBH I’m not sure. Legally maybe not, but on very early morning walks I have seen the odd tent there that was packing up. Where I have seen more tents very early morning is on top of the cove the far side of the pavement and further up near Malham tarn. I’ve also seen people on the flat approach to Gordale Scar. There is an official campsite as you leave Malham towards the cove. Sorry not much help here but the only wild camping I really do is on the Lakeland Fells.

    Hello. Brilliant video. What time of day did you start and finish please

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks - glad you enjoyed 👍 For the initial walk I set off about 6.30am finishing about 3.30pm. This was midweek which is why most of it is quiet. I realised that night some sections weren’t great as I took directly into the sun, so I went back the next day and did Pen-Y-Ghent and a few other bits again, this time setting off in the afternoon, which is why the start looks busier. I’m prob a little faster than average walking hills, but if I push on, it generally takes me about 8 hours. Most reasonably fit people who have done a reasonable amount of training take between 8-11 hours to do it. I hope that helps in your planning if you are doing it…

      Sorry, missed your second reply. Rather than the steps there is a wide gravel path that heads up diagonally left from the bottom of the steps - the one that I come back down. That should be much easier to walk on and has far fewer trip risks...and can be used then for both the up and down routes.

    Thanks for your detailed video review. I am planning with my family. I cant understand about what should i enter in google maps and is there any parking near by?

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all Před 3 měsíci

      If you click on this link: maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=54.5409475948385,+-3.277523463845997 or copy and paste it into your browser, it should open google maps with a red icon at the start of the walk, The red icon is also the entrace to the car park next to the buttermere court hotel. Once on google maps, you should be able to click directions, enter your own postcode and it will give you directions to the parking and the start of the walk. That is quite a large car park, but if full there is additional parking a couple of hundred metres up the road on the way into buttermere. There is more detail about the walk, a map of the walk on the buttermere walk page on our website: www.walks4all.com/walks/buttermere-lake-walk-from-buttermere. On that webpage are links to the parking and the start of the walk. I hope that helps...
