🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10+ years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
See any factual food errors in my videos? Please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY POV. It is not meant to offend any person or culture. Peace!

You should drop this sponsor. There is absolutely no quality control. Betterhelp is a big scam.
@@musknoer89 It's annoying to see them on all the leading CZcamsr videos. Their promos are so tacky.
better help is an awful service (almost a scam). ur literally hurting ur mentally vulnerable viewers by pushing this shit.
Betterhelp being your sponsor is going to hurt your overall viewership as more light is shone on them for being unethical
waiter! waiter! there's a fly in my soup
that's 25 cents extra sir
😂😂😂
but she scared away the fly from tarantulas, its impressive how a fly can be everywhere just to be annoying
lol xD
🤣🤣omg
Haha Holy! Love it! It's normal things in Cambodia, and I love it 😂
When he said "cricket soup!" The orchestra start singin cricket soup in the backround. Just notice 😂
I was definitely giggling at the cricket soup song in the background 😂😂😂😂
Ya that was funny, I feel like the editor made that song with AI and I love it lol
@@stefand1254others that's what i was thinking and despite the controversial nature i definitely think the ai music generators are perfect for stupid non-serious songs like that!!
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
THAT HAD ME WEEEEAK AF! 😂
Cambodia is such a great country! Great video bro! 🤩
Not sure if you’ve had tried the tarantulas but make sure you try them and film it the next time you’re in Cambodia, Chris!
Love you Chris and Sonny!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I got ya here , CHRIS - I bet 100% you will come back to cambodia CHRIS
❤❤❤
Love you Chris, miss your videos in Cambodia 🙏❤️🇰🇭
The cAmbodian host is so adorable, her English and her smile are top notch, thank you Maam
Totally agree!
I noticed that too. As a fellow Cambodian, I’m so proud of her
I was thinking the same. She is the best so far from the rest of the Best Ever Food show female hosts.
Never judge people by their outfit, language, food, faith, or belief in God. The world is rich with cultural diversity. I love how Sunny admires and embraces different foods and cultures. That's why I love watching this show. Hats off to you, Sunny, and your incredible team.
Love from Nepal🇳🇵
The editor of this show is a genius, always has the right song. I salute you Sir 🙇🏾♂
I believe it’s his wife
Cricket soup. I can't believe that's a song. lol
@@PowersPhotography she's really good.
now it just becomes a whole lot easier with AI music and I believe that cricket soup one was also AI generated
@@harshvardhansingh1300 Yeah, isnt it great. Now we can create human experiences without humans, so much cheaper and efficient.
The 'Cricket Soup' background operatic music is a touch of pure class!
What an improvement from the generic pop music they had some time ago. Love this.
AI to the rescue, who needs humans.
For real! I need it.
As a tarantula owner all I can say is there have been no recorded human deaths from a tarantula. If any it's from an infection of the tissue from mechanical damage of the fangs and not having access to proper cleaning sources. So you're more than good to get bit by one lol you may get sick for a week but these Tarantulas im assuming the Cambodian tiger Tarantula (forgot science man name) have potentially potent venom but will only make you sick for a few days not anything medically significant unless you have the one in a billion chance of being allergic to it. Love all your videos tho man and it's good to see such a healthy population of these Tarantulas in the wild!!! Even if they are used as food lmao
exactly
i’ve heard its comparable to a bee sting. is that true?
Yea I've seen a guy spit on his tarantula bite ... Hearing the lady say that in the video got me wondering if it's true
Depends on the Tarantula i'd assume.
so if you have any pre existing conditions it can trigger those and kill you as well, can also cause a heart attack in people who are dehydrated which.... I mean in that area I'd imagine plenty of people hunting tarantulas to eat are low on water too
there are a few species of tarantula that can cause seizures with their venom though, depending on the situation again that can take you out too
but yea like 90% of tarantula species bites are just like a really fucked up wasp sting
I just want to clarify something since some people might be confused. Even as a Cambodian, not all of us like to eat bugs. Yes, it tastes cripsy and has flavors, but not everyone enjoys eating it. And it is not our daily foods or snacks. You can say it is an occasionally or a rare snack like if you are drinking once in a while it tastes good with beer.
I'm Cambodian and with all due respect, I will never ever ever ever eat any bugs 😢 can't eat something that I'm scared of.
It might help conquer your fear
Did you grow up eating the local dishes?
you'll swallow a mans nut but not a spider? come on don't be like that eat the spider
I eat everything
@@1986Mr.Floresyou love feces
I love Cambodia so much I visited there many many times in the mid 2000s. I can’t wait to go back and hope to go back very soon. This made me so homesick for Cambodia and Thailand. I know it can be difficult to try new foods and new cultures, but you are doing an amazing job at it and I would like you to keep up the good work and, thank you for showing others cultures. It may be strange to us but it is there culture! ❤
“Can I Speak to the Manager. There’s Food in My Bugs”
😂
Dude, im Cambodian and watching this sends CHILLSSS down my spine.
"Spit with prayer" i love it!!
That is something new for us to try on. If you know what I mean.
🤣🤣
She actually meant it
@@rotanakhin1737 I don't envy being bitten by ants...... When I was last bitten myself I did more than pray.
I love how in the west MSG free is a badge of honour but In Asia they're proud of it. That shit just makes everything taste good.
It's not a badge of honor in the west lol. It started from racism againest asian cuisine then it became a phobia buzzword. Now most ppl realize msg is nothing harmful but some still carry on the phobia
Actually MSG free is a badge of honour too in Asia for the rich.
@@jjog2895exactly! This right here. You hear them complain about MSG at Asian restaurants but yet nothing about potato chips or other foods.
@@jjog2895 MSG is most definitely not good for you, but believe whatever you want.
Yea cuz MSG = Make Shit Good
Thank you for always posting Sonny! You are awesome and your videos are amazing. Hope you have fun on your travels!
the nice interpreter lady compliments this video very well. Vibe, sentiment and speaking delivery is on spot. Keep her.
When they open the spider set, in all the babies was calling out, all of a sudden I felt like something is crawling all over me, I kept smacking myself and looking making sure I didn't have no spot on me....😆
Feeds them to her chickens but worries about running out of wild tarantulas
I felt bad for the 'lil spider babies and protective mother, they were cute
Whenever I'm hungry, I watch this series. It's the best way to distract myself while fasting! 👍👍😂😂
Thanks for the video and sharing some Cambodia local life. I love the video and also love the translator ❤❤❤
Amazing guest and fantastic host as per usual. These short films are great, they make me feel as if im there! After watching your Tasmania show we decided to honeymoon all around Tasmania, right now actually. It is as incredible as you described. Well done.
Awesome stuff! 👌🏻 absolutely excellent video. 🎉
The water bug gives me goosebumps. lol. Nice fun video as always. Keep up the good work!
❤ I'm Cambodia 🇰🇭 but I been in the US too when I asked my mom she no she never eat them. Sorry I ran away I'm scared. Thank you for sharing my country is awesome.
You've been to the most isolated places we could never imagine it exist and you were able to show to the world their unique way of cooking. I can across a video on youtube that features dishes from Gabala, Azerbaijan and I hope you will be able to feature the place as well. Stay healthy and more travels and features to your channel!!!
the orchestra ''cricket soup'' had me rolling on the floor🤣🤣
Isnt AI awesome, so much better than humans and you dont need to pay it.
This is what i love about this channel and sunny, talking about the future of and the past of the food.
I enjoy learning from your postings, Sonny! Excellent content. We have eaten ants in our family. We always thought that they tasted like green bananas. This was a fun one to watch. Thank you for doing what you do!
Man, every bit of the tarantuala segment is my living nightmare
This video is so mind boggling. You so cool and brave to eat all "odd" food. Deserve 5000000 likes :)
OMG - DYING at the cricket soup chorus in the background!!! ❤
Yeah, isnt AI aweosome and you dont have to pay it. No need for contributing to the economical cycle of society.
Omg! I love your tour guide, Sreymom Mab! She's so authentic!
Your videos are fantastic! Very interesting and fun.
The fact that we get free food & travel videos on CZcams by Sonny is truly a gift; keeping the knowledge & entertainment alive.
👏👏👏
Agreed! You sure you don’t miss paying money for channels that pump out sanitized versions of reality, with a robotic and cold lack of connection to the people and environment that they are studying/interacting with!? 😂
CZcams (and all other 3rd party video platforms) are such a blessing for human consciousness and development. I’m beyond grateful for any form of truth from any people. 🙏💚
God bless sonny for keeping a straight face through this. I’d be shivering
Cricket soup Symphony playing in the backgrounds was a nice touch 👌 😅
And no humans needed, just AI. Great how we can earn more money without any benefit to others.
From Nagaland here and I thought my people's diet was extreme 🥴🥴🥴🥴

Loving to watch this video again and again
Gday Sonny. As a kid growing up, I ate bugs 🤦 to this day I can't imagine what the hell I was thinking! So to eat arachnids is just crazy! Especially ones that can eat you, hahaha. I don't think there are too many things I have seen you turn away from like stingray liver and spider eggs hehehe.
Mate, I have to say, when I watch your videos, it's better than watching documentaries, in fact, your videos should be made into documentaries for discovery channel, etc.
Thanks for all your hard work Sonny, you make these videos super entertaining and fricken funny at the same time. Especially when you're taking the piss out of people, hahaha. And your English translating guests are well chosen. But in all seriousness, you obviously put a lot into your work. Well done, bud!!
Cheers Jim
im ngl. that intro scene almost made me shake hands with god 😂
As a Cambodian I love tarantula
This video is very entertaining sonny.
There are zero recorded deaths from tarantulas. To say if biten by one you could die is quite the stretch of the truth.
Appreciate this video!

Awesome review 🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭
Tarantula, crickets, water bug and silk worms. Are my favorite, so yummy 😋
Be sure to drop that sponsor, they literally have no standards, lots of content diving into their history.
Maybe coffezila needs to do a third video?
You are the top man Sonny. No P-Ants on you. Was thinking of the methane emission when the tarantulas were all over your face.
I hated the spiders. you have great Tarant - U - La La La.
Love watching your video especially a series in Cambodia
Thank for coming back and take what is the true khmer foods :)☺ Thank You so much Sunny😍
The Tarantula literally a landmine over there. One wrong step you're gone.
They don't attack you, brother. Unless you stick your fingers in their nest, there is 0 chance they are crawling out of their burrow to bite you. But landmine and unexploded ammunition is a real threat in Cambodia. I think we are the 2nd most bomb county while Laos out neighbors is the 1st. The death and injury from landmines in Cambodia is closer to 15 people per year in the last 5-10 years. It used to be a lot higher even in the early 2000s.
I'm Cambodian i don't like Insects to eat, Cambodian before never eat this, The Khmer Rouge era starved a million people 1975-1979, hundreds thousands die because no food to eat, so a million Cambodian learn to eat of Insects , After Khmer Rouge the insects eat become habits of people. 20% of Cambodian eat insects not mean 80% of Cambodian like this.

Awesome how diverse this channel is. Respect!
I ate mealworms or whatever. Dried or something. Holy shit they taste good. Meaty and nutty at the same time. Good taste. But man. Getting it out of my head I'm eating insects is HARD!!! :O So have only eaten a little bit.
I'm Cambodian and I have eaten a lot of insects before (specifically at the location shown in the video) mostly cricket and sometimes tarantula, I have never known that something like Cricket Soup exists. I thought we can only eat it stir fried otherwise there will be weird smell or something. But I guess I am too young to understand what the elders used to eat during the Khmer Rouge time, these insects were their survival foods after all. Anyway cricket in the soup looks somehow intimidating to me haha
Thanks🎉❤ I love your work and willingness to experience life as a common person in the village. I love this! Keep up the great work!
