@@markmierzejewski Please you make me laugh. Rational thought? Rational - aka rationality, reasoning and thinking objectively. Objectively COVID spread like wildfire and killed a lot of people. A rational response to a health crisis like this is to take health measures to address said health crisis, to prevent your already in tatters national health system from literally getting crippled. There was plenty of rationality in the decisions made towards tackling COVID in NZ - you just don't agree or see the danger due to your own personal information, misinformation or disinformation - and so don't see value in the measures taken, that they don't outweigh the sacrifices. If it was War and you were conscripted - would you go to War or would you cry for freedom? You probably would go to War because you would see the value in fighting for the freedom of your country - either that or you are so far gone that you don't believe that the War is real. People in NZ made sacrifices cause we believed we were at War (which we were) and so we all came together to fight for the freedom of our people to live without getting sick. Whether it was worth it in the end after all the other variants came along, we'll never know - but nobody foresaw it - the fact of the matter is NZ kept and still has a very low death rate from COVID since the beginning, so the results speak for itself.
Either way - you aren't as smart as you think you are, so don't come in here and start talking about "rational thought" like it's some gift bestowed to those who love freedom. It's not.

Thank goodness she has resigned. With the biggest PR machine ever seen in NZ government, she was always well rehearsed and could never answer an unscripted question. How does that make you a great leader?? She has destroyed the fabric of our country, causing a bigger racial divide with hated policies such as Three waters, letting prisoners out to reduce prison population numbers. etc. Crime, homelessness and poverty has significantly increased during her time. Failed policies such as Kiwi build, fabricating government statistics, coupled with incompetent ideological MP's has made her and her government a bunch of Muppets. It's was a happy day for many of us Kiwi's yesterday. I pity the world is she gets a plum job at the UN!

What the commentators don't seem to understand is how racially and culturally divisive Ardern has been. The details are too compex to describe here but we are approaching a system of apartheid in New Zealand, as a sort of payback for the terrible 'evils' of colonialism.. It has seemed very much like marxist mischief. She has said that Capitalism doesn't work, as far as she's concerned. It certainly hasn't worked under her leadership! She didn't cause our housing problems (no houses, lots of immigration, EXTREME high cost of building materials as, for instance, we grow trees, then send them to China to be processed into lumber, then buy them back ), but she has done nothing to address it. She's placed major financial hardships on farmers (while offering financial help only to Maori farmers). Crime is through the roof as police are encouraged to be 'kind'. She talks big -especially on the world stage- but has no understanding of normal life and human needs. It's all about her ideals and she has no compunction about using a tyrannical approach. I worked in elder care for decades before being turfed out via her mandates-hence the reason I live in a car now. Most of the elders I worked for were former conservative voters, but had voted for her party, Labour. I got the same answer from all when I asked them why: 'Because she's kind,' they said. If you listen to all her resignation speech she mentions her own kindness and compassion towards the end. Who does that! So while I do wish her future happiness, I am glad to see her go. Trouble is, her anti-capitalist, anti-democratic views are held by all her colleagues, one of whom will shortly replace her.

I'd like to think we can go back to 'vote whoever you think does the job better and if they don't vote someone else next election'. In NZ we all know 'tall poppy syndrome' and many people want to bring her down because she is very popular overseas, and has done well with her image overseas , which ultimately looks good on NZ , that which some people cannot look past.
