I fell in love with Rik Emmett when I saw the music video for Never Surrender. All my friend were into Van Halen but for me it was Triumph!! I was 15. In the fall of 1986, Triumph played my home town Phoenix, Arizona. I was 2 months pregnant with my second son. I went to the concert any way. It was so incredible!! And at one point Mike & Gil left the stage Rik played a 3 neck guitar solo that was mind blowing. Unfortunately the band broke up. I have followed Rik for years!! He was my first love!!! Check out the song NEVER SURRENDER.

Don't hate me, but I think triumph is a step ahead of rush in some aspects. Rush had a better drummer and writer. But triumph had a far better singer who could play lead at the same time. That's tough. No disrespect to Alex. But Neil was another world writer. If he would have been in triumph thing would have gone very different. For the music world as a whole.

this is when music was real - no bullshit. Either you were talented or you weren't. Band members could play multiple instruments and sing. It was a different time because music videos didn't require bands to look good for the camera. Talent was talent and you made it based on talent alone. What a great time to be young

70s 80s were the best times in rock music history. There are no true "rock" bands out there anymore. To be in an arena with 15k+ people to see the bands live and feel the music was a feeling like no other. We would wait in line all night in law chairs for tickets to concerts to try to get a front row seat. Triumph was so full of energy and always a blast to your face. I've seen them 3 times and they never let you down. This is their best hit in my humble opinion. Yes it is an original song and it is ONE song. Nice pic guys.

I was at this show. They always delivered and you got more than your money's worth.

I saw 2 of their shows in the 80’s. Thank you for reminding me how phenomenal Rik Emmett was.

I have only ever heard Lay It On the Line in the 80's. But WOW - this performance blew it away!!! That showed exactly what they can do! The guitar was on the left side the whole time. The drums were great too. That solo!!!!! ❤🤘🎶

I have heard this song only from reactions! Some of their other songs I do remember playing on the radio! I don't remember this on the Canadian radio stations I used to listen to, but then again I kind of dismissed this band in favour of the more popular Rush! I'm so glad I am hearing more of their music! They are amazing!

I saw triumph twice and they are a much better live band than studio. I find most of their studio stuff subdued compared to their live shows. Their US festival 1983 performance is one of the greatest guest sets ever. Its THAT good.

See their set at the US Festival, it'll blow your mind! Both lead guitarist and drummer sing lead in this band and all three rock!

It's a reflection on the lessons from his beloved Aunt's fight and eventual death from cancer.
Hard to find a better, more eloquent tribute in this genre, or any.

Their Live At US Fest '83 is fire! The whole F'n thing. Hanging out in 100° heat w/ approx 100,000 of your best friends...priceless.
Was a great weekend. What I remember of it.
