To resolve the border, both countries must agree to appoint an independent surveyor to survey the boundary. As sections of the border are surveyed, build a fence 1 metre high.
The costs of the survey & fence are shared equally by both countries.
Once the survey & fencing are completed there will be no more disputes & fighting, which saves lives on both sides.

Negotiation without conflict is always the best policy. Coming from the US perspective, has savvy Indian diplomats considered that perhaps, it is in the best interest of the US not to have the Chinese-Indian border conflict resolved? If the relationship normalizes, that is certainly a gain for the region and loss for the US. Remember, we are extremely good at wedging conflicts between brothers, neighbors et al. The proverbial “divide and conquer”!

To be honest, I often go to China. In the eyes of China, India has always been regarded as a good neighbor and good partner. They have always believed that India is an important force for stabilizing peace in Asia. So they have been targeting the United States. But only if there is what they say is a peaceful settlement of the dispute over the border.
