- “…The color is crazy, like a Beetle or a Bus. It makes people smile. Always.”
Porsche owner Antoine Gaslais and his 1967 912-the four-cylinder 911-are the perfect pairing for a relaxing drive.
Gaslais is a screenprinter by trade, with experience in advertising, illustration, graphic design, and publishing. At this point in his life, he’s able to focus his efforts on his artistic endeavors. A few years ago, he decided to search for his perfect Porsche 912. After nearly five years, Gaslais was finally ready to call a close friend and say…
“Listen man, I did something stupid. I bought a car.”
It didn’t run. But it was numbers-matching, had been well-used, and wore its patina well-the perfect car for an enthusiast on a tight budget who was obsessed with finally getting behind the wheel and motoring, ’60s style. His friend Julien helped get the car running, and on the first big trip it was to take…well, we’ll let Gaslais tell the full story in the film.
Now, he’s enjoying the performance of his brightly-colored Bahama Yellow 912.
“These days, I’ll admit, when I get in the car it no longer feels like a mistake…” he says.

This guy lives in a beautiful place, makes amazing art, and drives a dream car. Props to him
I love the color-grading on this video. It's very reminiscent of old documentary films.
I searched about 4 years for an SC, when I finally had enough money, the market shot up. Regardless, I bought a 69' 912 and couldn't be happier.
Great video! About 2 years ago I was trying to figure out which Porsche 912 to buy and saw an online photo of a Bahama Yellow 912 at a concourse - it took my breath away and I knew instantly that was the one I wanted! Found and bought a good one a few months later - love it!!!
Reminds me of my story. I spent 5 years strolling the classifieds for my car, and I bought last year at 19. Now I have the world's cheapest Lancia Fulvia coupe that I can barely afford to keep running, but I'm over the moon with it.
awesome! always loved that car
don't let that dream die! it's worth it :)
then restore it if you can or replace the engine. I researched a little about those cars and they are rare in my search.
+Alfred Munkenbeck Very cool, hopefully you'll get interviewed by Petrolicious, seems like a cool car story.
Bas Q. I'd rather tell the story after I get it all fixed up but thanks!
The pre-seventies 911 and 912 hardtops (I think the convertible, targa, and later turbo models ruin that perfect roofline) are some of the greatest looking cars of all time. I've never seen one in that colour either; it looks fantastic.
I'm not even that much into cars, but the cinematography on this channel is just masterful.
What's not to love about this fine looking Porsche 912, or Antoine's thinking? Excellent! :-)
912 The art work ,Great Passion
I feel the same way with my prosche 914-6.
Great video guys!
Bravo Antoine. Excellent choix. Très belle voiture et beau métier.
Love that growly, air-cooled, flat four sound. Part of the excellence of the Petrolicious videos is the excellent audio - far better than average, where what engine sound there is tends to get drowned out by wind noise and accessory drive sounds.
Today I drove a Honda Del Sol. I bought it new in 1997. It has 200,000 miles. It runs great. It has 127
Horsepower. It s quick but fast. Handling is fantastic. Double wishbone, with front and rear sway bars.
A five speed Manuel. It is a blast to drive.
Dam those art works are amazing, when i saw his work before i thought he created them digitally.
The old ways. Vintage touch. Imperfect.
excellent camera work guys
this is becoming the best petrolhead channel on the youtubez. thank you for those quality videos. unlike a certain other channel that constantly praises certain rubbish american "vehicles"...
Agreed
+Róbert Németh has been for years already!
It's about time you guys made a video featuring a Porsche.
+audioisgood Get lost with your sarcasm...
+audioisgood lol
😂😂😂🤣🤣
Nice job with the colour grade. Evokes the era of the car, but without going over the top.
My name is James Dean and I am jealous as shit... 😔
That car looks and sounds so so good! The 60s really was a golden decade of design.
" I did something stupid I bought a car". haha story of my life and they are all worked out perfectly! great to rewatch these films
Wonderful story with the added extra of beautiful scenery. Thank you!
My neighbor has one. Its brown and never driven in wet weather. Only 34,000 miles. It is stunning! He bought it new.
I always like all those story of cars and there owner, it's inspiring, thank you.
Another awesome video! I've always liked old-school Porsches.
wahou !!! trop cool !!!!
Bravo !
love this video its probably the third time I've watch it.
You guys have been knocking it out of the park with the videos and stories recently!
Beautiful automobile, love the color and the story.
Bravo, Antoine!
My dream car.
@ 5:30 Placing your cargo a little to the right side of the roof rack to balance the driver's weight was clever.
I can't believe you guys make these beautiful high quality videos in just a week :O
+Gosta Dolc i can tell you : it's hard work
!
Well shot and edited --- as usual. Great story.
This show has some crazy texture.
i love these sorts of cars. original, clean and looked after but with the patina of age.
What a beautiful car !
These videos are put together with so much care. And the cars are very nice as well! Subscribed.
I just love this video, so retro in feel and colour.
beautiful.
Just Brilliant!!!!!
Watching this is pure joy :)
Great video. Keep it up.
Great car & He captured my feelings about the Porsche 911 precisely, 100%! Live long and prosper!
Deja Vu.....Bahama Yellow strikes again. great video!
love it. just like dad's 1967 porsche 912. but his is slate grey in color. :)
I like the overall vibe of this video. It feels like it's shot in the 70's.
Yellow Bahama, what a beautiful Color!
I thought the 912 was never sold in Europe.... Well I learn every day. Great car, I love the old school Porsches. He calls it "easy to drive" hmmm I don't know about that. Let us say, their reputation is not that.
Beautiful cars as always and amazing videos
a story of friendship.
Oh yayyy...another old Porsche. Well, at least I know what car maker is the Petrolicious producer's favorite lol
I came across a red 912 for 6500 or 8500 about 10yrs ago,but l wanted a 300zx or 70 Dodge Challenger, man l wish l would have bought that car.
wish I could find one of these 912s in RHD form. they seemed easy to maintain, with the beetle engine. it would look good and i dont have to worry about the maintenance, because i can change parts with my beetle :D
This engine really sounds like a VW beetle. Air cooled flat 4 .Hell he could transplant a newer Mexico engine inside if this breaks down. The posters really rock!!
This guy has it figured out.
Simply a dream
Id like to buy one of his prints.. do you have his contact info?
+GunfightersINC Same. I would like to see what he has
+GunfightersINC
He's the first result if you google his name.
absolutely stunning
Thanks for this video. I've only recently discovered Petrolicious and really enjoy how you bring us these classics and show us the soul of these machines. I only wish there were more videos from the "working guys" like this one. I get a little tired of the "money guys" showing off their toys. Of course, I understand that without the rich cats, a lot of these beautiful machines might be lost.
Fantastico! ! Awesome video great car cool prints.
what a high level video
Video grading in this is awesome!
By far the best color for this car! I might be a little biased:-)
Cool beetle
Be cool - drive 4! 912 for ever! :-)
I'm pretty sure I saw this car on vacation
Harvest gold was a popular BMC British Leyland colour in the 70s.
I love the 912!
Beautiful car.
Awesome
Merci, dude. Awesome.
agree,, 912 is the legend Porsche!!
OMG, I had major kitchen appliances that same color.
I think it was called Harvest Gold... can anyone conform?
+RollYourRock - YES!! Avocado Green very hot as well...
+RollYourRock - Don't forget the Chocolate Brown !!
+RollYourRock Harvest gold, yes. Amazing color, btw.
+RollYourRock The other color was avocado green. Lots of Mustangs and Frigidare's in that shade.
It's called whatever the manufacturer decided to call it numb nuts.
Belle histoire 🧡
Loved the video !!!!!!!
a very nice car
Digging that new intro ;)
+Mr. C the last 6 movies from petrolicious have this intro so yeah. I like it though
I don't know, I kind of prefer the other intro personally.
This is amazing
COOL !!
great video! just too bad you did not take more advantages of this part of Switzerland to make some nice shots!!
June 2018 the best part of a 912.
Is its a good light weight donor to fit a Porsche 6.sell the motor to a 356 guy.
Great video.!
Montreux!!!! :D
was this video shot on film? just has that certain quality to it
Julien from the Black Sheep 912 video?
Two 912s...both French? Guess that's were most of them are
+Jack Ferriter No doubt! Definitely Julien's 912 at 5:03 !
+Jack Ferriter The first thing I remembered when I saw a 912 in this video and speaking french and that "912 Club" badge/sticker on his car, I remembered Julien from the black sheep 912.
+Jack Ferriter Yes Jack, and it is actually the same house... Antoine was printing in the livingroom & I was working on the cars in the garage :')
+Araz Boghozian badge are a link also, you are right. Antoine and I founded the 912club a few years ago in Paris.
Funny, I'd have thought that for a Frenchman, the best thing about a 912 would be its smoker's windows...
Always wondered whether the Porsche 912 would have been more highly regarded had they continued to further develop and sell the 912 (for markets where engines over 2.0-litres are heavily taxed) up to say a 912 version of the 993?
Especially since Porsche at one point developed a 120-150 hp 2.0 air-cooled Flat-4 for the 984 prototype with potential turbocharged 912 variants in the mold of the Porsche 911 Turbo preempting the likes of the late-80s Subaru Legacy RS Turbo / early-90s Subaru Impreza WRX.
Unfortunately Porsche went the 924 route instead
Kind of understand why Porsche went down the 924 route, even so a thoroughly-developed 912 would be viewed as a true Porsche (despite the Flat-4) or at least better regarded then the front-engined Porsches.
People have fogot early Porsche’s. I think the Porsche 912 had 105 hp . They were not fast but quick.
Today’s Porsche can approach 200 miles per hour. They are race cars on the street. The roads are the same
as when the 912 was new except for the highways. So what you have is old roads with more cars and an over fast car. That equals trouble. The old Porsche’s were fun.
Does anyone knows where did he find the car listed?
