Goes without saying that the writing and acting is stellar as always, but the lighting is also excellent. Characters half in light, half in shadow. This helps focus attention and adds gravitas to already great scenes. It must have been a bugger to shoot though.

All I know is there's a moment here.
That is exactly what it is all about

3:38 I love that look he gives her. It says "She's my daughter and I love her. She's also my Chief of Staff and I love her too. Some days I can't tell which part of me loves her more."

I don't know if anything could make me read Hemingway, but I am considering it, because of this.

I've read some Hemingway. Old Man And The Sea is a great one to start with. For Whom The Bell Tolls is a must-read. Farewell To Arms is also on my list. Hemingway also helped write one of JFK's speeches.

I’ve never liked Hemingway. I don’t like his style. He wrote in a ‘newspaper reporter’ style. I didn’t enjoy the couple of books I read, and that was that. “A FAREWELL TO ARMS” is a wonderful movie, though. Helen Hayes and Gary Cooper.

@@UNIT294 We had to read "Old Man and the Sea" at school, the biggest deterrent to liking any author. If all the people who wanted the Harry Potter books banned had made them compulsory reading as part of English Lit. in schools they would have collapsed sales overnight.

That embargo destroyed our rice farmers whose greatest export market was Cuba, enthusiastic consumers of American-grown rice.

Modern politics, and especially the overexposed USA ones, make me sick to my stomach. Don't mind governance and statesmanship , most of the time is thinking about getting your ass in or back in power, the rest of the time is thinking about how get money to do and from that.

This was one storyline I just couldn’t really buy into on the show - particularly the whole Kate & Leo connection.

The post-Sorkin seasons have some moments, but a lot of it is incomprehensible.

As a Floridian I'm so disgusted with how flippantly they spoke about the Cuban American people and ignored the years of violence and cruelty that Castro caused them.

The anger is justified, the hate is justified, the fear is justified. But can you tell me what it’s managed to actually _accomplish_ in more than sixty years? For Cuba or for America?

It's bad, like most of the post-Sorkin seasons. We can quibble, but I think just about every episode of season 5 is worse than this one.
