Denys, the foreign legion is part of the French army (Armée de Terre). It is composed of French (nationals) and foreigners (that makes it special) but it is still incorporated into the normal command chain of the Armée de Terre.

Denys you made a mistake in your video at 9 min which is important to correct to me as a french. You said that France might send soldiers but from the Foreign legion which is not a part of the french forces. No you are toally wrong on that point, french foreign legion is totally apart of the french forces, it's a part of the regular army. The only difference is that this regiment is compose by foreigners and some french. But it is a part ofthe french army and considered as french soldiers.

Foreign Legion is a part of the french army. If you deploy it to Ukraine, you deploy the french army.
Most likely the French personnel will be doing technical works like engineering and electronic welfare, so the current Ukrainian staff with that role will be sent on the front.

I don't see an advantage for Russians in the long term at this point. Russian has always been a nightmare neighbour back into the 1800s when they were fighting the Brits in Asia trying to get a warm water port on the Indian ocean, and then threaten British trade with India and Asia. When the Ottomans sold 20% of the Suez Canal to Russia and 20% to Britain (they couldnt afford the repayments to France who built it) the Brits had to move into Egypt to protect it. Can you see Russia having enough experienced crews for these tanks? And drones just seem to negate their effectiveness without controlling the skies it’s stupidity
I guess it depends on their actual losses and effectiveness in training replacements. When you see a tank with its hatches open that got abandoned, that crew is most likely still alive. Same with ukraine. Ukraine has it worse I think, because they have so many different tanks. Russian designs are known for using previous design features, so its probably (I'm guessing) easier to go from a t72 to a t80 or a t80 to a t62 than it is to go from a t64 to an abrams, which not only has a four man crew vice a three man crew, but requires a manual loader to replace the automatic loader used by russian designs.
And russians aren't particularly known for making complexity, simplicity for them is a feature, not a bug.

Err, Russia trades with India and china so not screwed at all. It’s actually western consumers that are getting screwed, in Australia gas is a few cents from hitting an all time high of $2 per litre. Cost of transport goes up so then the price of any product reliant on transport using fuel. Saudi will show no mercy, it’s all about profiting from billions of little guys like us

Two and a quarter years later, I'm still trying to understand how and why russia invaded ukraine.. it just makes no sense, and why europe is faltering to donate more to help protect a neighbor.
Ukraine will never be in NATO. Russia is making sure of it.
Let me give you an idea. Since break up of Warsaw Pact NATO is encroaching on Russian borders. Ukraine was supposed to become another NATO member and given historical and most importantly strategic reasons Russia decided to make a stand there.
Funny fact - did you know that Soviets and Russia asked for NATO’s membership in 1954 and 2000? I guess that if Russia was a member of NATO then what would be the reason for NATO’s existence?

Great strategic and tactical update. My worry is where will the F16's have their base? I suggest that it might be near the Polish border with several "Dummy" bases in other places. The anti-aircraft cover would be better here and deniable NATO anti-missile support could also be from this area. F35's with their long vision could accompany the F16's over Ukraine airspace at least. They could "talk" to the F16's and warn them of approaching trouble. I would be interested to know where (which place in Russia or Crimea) the Russian effort against F16's will originate from? That Glide bomb factory in Russia really needs Taurus attention.Thanks.
