Mooooosic to my ears. That takes me back to my days in Toledo, OH when TARTA(Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority) had 24 each of the 40-ft. and 30-ft. 1988 model Metro "Bs". As time progress. They develope their own unique personality especially the cow sounds. I miss those days!
I don't think so now. If you go to Baltimore now, The only thing you're going to see is NABI, Neoplan and New Flyers D40LF & DE40LF. The only Flxible that are still left, are the 1994 & 1995 Metro E's. You better off going down there Mon-Fri durning morning and afternoon rush hour to try to catch Flxible buses. It not an easy task to do.
Hell, it's an upgraded version of one of the first ever 6-cylinder Detroit Diesel engines that go back as far as the Mack Old Looks! It was once known as the 6-71....for some crazy reason was the 6L71 brought back just for this model?
Does RIPTA Still has their 1992 TMCs? If so how left are they around? I know their Novas hopelly to be around for many more years. I really love their Orion 5s and Nova RTSes the best.
Depends on where the client wants it, here in jersey we still have the bottom exhaust on our Metro B's but our D's have them on top and look like DC's is on top but where the Flxible embling is at!!!
the 1990 - 92 flxible metro c 40102 6T seats 43 - 37 with 2 wheel chairs and a wheel chair njtransit have a few 1991 flxible metro c 40102 6c buses back in the 90s for Trenton nj as the CNG powered transit buses as the Navi buses
6L 71 Detroit diesel engines are in line six cylinder the 6v 71 and 92 Detroit diesel engines are V6 Motors But With The V730 Or V731 Allisonautomatic Transmissions Awesome
you are lucky . my dad couldnt hold on to his ... he had TWO.........TWO FREAKIN BUSES THAT COULD VE BEEN MINE BY NOW BUT HE DIDNT WANT TO DEAL WITH THEM THE MAITAINENCE WAS TOO COSTLY EVEN FOR A DO IT YOUR SELF-ER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This takes me back to the days where I would ride the bus with my mom. It was when she didn't have a car. Definitely reminds me of my childhood. 😄
This is in Baltimore, that's the old 13 Line and it's way down at the end of Clinton Street (end of the line) at Canton Industrial Area.
the 8.5liter series 50 dd has an almost one of a kind sound to it.
They need to bring this one back cause it just sounds GREAT.
Now that's was my bus. I remember riding it in '92-96 and hearing it often in the afternoon.
This Flxible sounds like a mixture of the 6V92 and 8V71 engines. Tight!
Beautiful....

yes, this is it. my dad had one when i was 3 he sold it to somebody nearby. i want to get it back so badly........
This may be a dumb question but is the 6L71 an upgraded or turbocharged version of the
6V71?
Is this 1992 Metro?
9 or 10 of the origial 50 are still running.
justa turbocharged variation, for a fact, but it also has a different configuration......a straight 6 for example or a pancake 6 cylinder.
this is the bus i want it will be mine!!!
Is this recording recent?
What version is this a 1996?
1992
@Dkels219 REALLY?
