If anything, this intro just serves to cement just how bad ass Kung Lao was. He was destroying Scorpion and Smoke who had already awakened their mortal abilities without having any himself.

I was scratching my head about why Sub-Zero and Scorpion would be working together when they aren't even a part of the same clan, until Lui Kang came out and started explaining.
Also, it’s a whole new timeline made by Liu Kang. So there’s gonna be some differences in the characters.
Yea, in the original bi-Han was killed by hanzo ( scorpion ) leaving kuai liang to become sub zero but in this one bi-Han is alive nd kuai liang is scorpion. I won’t spoil anything but just get ready
