Great discussions on mods made to refine setup for the rider and address vulnerable bits. This is an impressive motorbike that I will need to consider as a replacement for my competent, but heavy 2012 R1200GS.

Spings are to soft even in KTMs when your hitting everthing that these bikes are capeble off, get your springs changed and valving, it transforms your bike even on the road, and makes it more comfortable and safer , my bike used to dive in the front under hard braking into corners making for a difficult bike to control, upped my front fork springsto heavier ones and its a totaly different bike , Love It...

    Hello Dave,
still a very informative video with useful advice, even if you have already driven some km.
I have a T 700 Rally and sometimes come with my height (175 cm, 5.7 food) to the limit. Meanwhile it goes better and I have come to terms. A reduction in height I have not yet made and would like that only as an emergency.
To my question: Since the saddle is too high I can not climb directly but go first on the footrest and then swing the other leg over. So all the weight is on the side stand. Is this the right way? (There is no other way for me...) how does Clubby do it? (he's not a giant either).
I'm going to assume that I'll need to check the side stand more often and replace it at some point if necessary, right?
    Thanks for your feedback
    Matthias

Also I recommend Motul brake fluid DOT 5.1 , Used in all DOT 3 and DOT 4Brake fluid bikes cars trucks, and can be mixed right in with whatever your currently using... If your fluids low... Just add the Motul brake fluid. I also use Motul Motorcycle Motor oil You can't beat it.. Bike runs cooler and much better.

  • @holden3083

👍. Bikes coming along quite nice. Maybe I expect to much from the premium price tag on these bikes especially if u look at the price of the world rally version. Which has been out for 2 or 3 years. Without any upgrades. The amount of things u need to buy to actually turn these bikes into a actual adventure bike is a bit ridiculous really. Just basic things like a chain guide, hand guards, crash guards ect. Then u get to the suspension. Which sounds like it’s designed for a 60-70kg rider + a bit of gear. Maybe I do expect to much for the premium price tag. I even looked at the price of a drz 400. The only upgrade it’s had in 3 years is the ridiculous upgrade in price of $ 2800. How does that work?

Love everything about the T7, and really would love to pull the trigger on one. My only issue is the weight. 5'8''/160 (172cm/72kg), I currently
ride a WR250R and just love the bike. Only reason I am looking to get the T7 is longer freeway sections. I live in the states and you can't
really avoid longer freeway at times. Your a better rider than I am but, I thought you might be able to offer some thoughts. Everyone shows how to pick up a T7, but
its always on flat ground, nice grassy field, not tired from riding. Who cares......I want to know how it is when you dump it on a steep rocky hill, dead tired from riding all day, etc etc. I thought hard about a KTM 390 like but I really prefer the quality/reliability of Yamaha. The KTM 390 just seems like a cheep unreliable bike that will likely strand me in the middle of know where. Anyway love the channel and appreciate all the effort you guys put in. Thanks for any feedback.

G'day Tobias: the red and white sticker kit on my 700 is from Australian brand SK Designs ... you can view their website www.skda.com.au and they have offices around the world. Quality is excellent and fit-up is pretty easy, as the design includes multiple smaller pieces rather than large slabs of graphic that need to stretch over long curved surfaces. Gently use a heat gun and you will get an excellent result.

I don't have a company as such, particularly in the US. Just go to a good motorcycle suspension store I'm pretty sure there is not much in this.

Thanks for all the great info. One question. If you remove the rear rack for the GL panniers, do you have to worry about the muffler burning the GL bag?

Great review, I have a question about the comfort, I took a Tenere 700 for a 1 hour test ride from my local dealer and absolutely loved the bike, i had one small thing that bothered me and wanted to know if you experienced the same and if its adjustable, my right shin kept bumping into the right gearbox cover, is this a foot peg position issue or hight, will the higher seat change my leg angle ?

I had the same experience. It's the plastic cover around the clutch activaton arm. I was very noticeable when I sat down and not so when I sootd up. I now have plastic covers to protect my clutch housing so that piece of plastic has been removed.

If you ride on the balls of your feet like you should for sport road/road racing and off-road I find you don't really bump into it. If you're the type especially when sitting to move your foot foward on your pegs in a more relaxed riding position is when you'll bump into it.

I'm a far heavier and 150kgs and 6 foot 8 rider, have owned a XT660Z before, had the shocks done here in NZ, so am looking at purchasing a 700, I'd like my 700 to be taller in height as well, what do you recommend then??

there are suspension components out there that raise the bike 3cm. My sponsor, Rally Raid Products UK is one of them.

and with all the mods the bike seems to be the same $ or a bit more than ktm 790 adv r, at least in EU where the price difference is less than 2000$. I test driven T7 and liked it a lot, but as a road rider I would love to have more power on the street. The ktm seems to offer that... Tough choice!
