Stunning weather for a hike. Like everywhere else, we've had problems with fire, and the opposite as well, a ton of rain this year. Great walk - and like you said - it offered a lot. I find it very interesting that a lot of these paths go through other people's property. You would never see that here.

My stomping ground that Alan. I walk routes around this area on a regular basis. The car park is three miles from my house. I'm glad you like the area. It is lovely all year round. What a gorgeous place to hike. The nieces there are simply epic. I signed up for the St. Jude thirty mile hike. I figured it was the perfect way to get back into the swing of things. Plus raise some money for charity. This time last year the brain tumor went from a grade 2, to a 3. I really didn’t think I would be here today. So Carpe Diem wry one.🤙

Great video Alan, that viewpoint was an excellent photo location. Great shots of the monument, too. I might have to do this route at some point. It will take me all day, though, as I'll be stopping every five minutes for a photo of two. As for favourite 'stones songs, Wild Horses gets my vote, but there are so many great tracks to choose from. Good question from Watto.

Did roughly the same walk as you about 1 month ago. The National Trust had couple of tables on top of Roseberry Topping selling coffee, tea and homemade cakes, ( bonus 😊) Agree with you really good walk.

There was not a cloud in the sky at first but they built up and looked amazing just when I got to the monument. I should have taken a leaf out of your book and got up there for the sunrise, regretting that now! Have you ever been lost during hiking?

I love circular walks and in theory, 7 miles is quite doable! But then you said the word STEEP!! It is a beautiful day and the views are stunning. A lovely loop and one I have been doing for many years, always enjoy it but when I have Mrs Metalman with me we will walk around the side of Roseberry Topping to miss out the steep up, something she prefers now. There is free parking down the road from where I parked but it would have put a mile on my journey but when Mrs Metalman is with me we normally park for free at Gribdale, as we do not do as much mileage. That is an early start Alan but wow it was worth it to get to those popular places and have them all to yourself. Great question by Watto and yes growing up i always thought the Beatles were overrated compared to other bands at the same time. It’s definitely a walk we have done more than any other. Gribdale Gate looked busy. Nothing worse than a yappy dog when your trying to record audio! Did this walk a month ago and those ferms were so overgrown you could barely get through them. That is a steep descent, you can have our word for it! A great mornings walk indeed. Roseberry Topping in flippity flops? Oh no! Biden is probably having a nap around the back! Both enjoyed this on the big screen whilst we nurse our second time with the dreaded covid. Have a lovely trip to Majorca 👍👍
Sorry to hear about the Covid, hope you are both on the mend. That dog was doing my head it, it never stopped yapping and the people made no attempt to stop it either and they must have sat there for about 20 minutes before they moved and my sanity returned. True story about Mrs Metalman doing RT in flop flops, which must be 30 years ago now. I had to hold her all the way up and down. Just as we got to the bottom, she said, 'I will be okay now, you can let go of me', which I did and she then promptly fell flat on her back lol! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Great video Alan, that viewpoint was an excellent photo location. Great shots of the monument, too. I might have to do this route at some point. It will take me all day, though, as I'll be stopping every five minutes for a photo of two. As for favourite 'stones songs, Wild Horses gets my vote, but there are so many great tracks to choose from. Good question from Watto.

Man that would see me boiling, too hot for me but having said that, we are flying to Majorca tomorrow on holiday for 5 nights and they have been getting 40C (104F) temps lately, so I will be sitting in a nice shaded bar sipping on something long and ice cold lol! Did roughly the same walk as you about 1 month ago. The National Trust had couple of tables on top of Roseberry Topping selling coffee, tea and homemade cakes, ( bonus 😊) Agree with you really good walk.

One thing for sure it is always a busy summit and despite getting to the top before 07.30, there were 6 other people already there. This is my fav area to walk in the York moors as well Alan 😊 such a great place for a wonder. Heather looks nice and you made an early start beating some of the crowds. The clouds look very cool in places 😊
There was not a cloud in the sky at first but they built up and looked amazing just when I got to the monument. I should have taken a leaf out of your book and got up there for the sunrise, regretting that now! Have you ever been lost during hiking?

I love circular walks and in theory, 7 miles is quite doable! But then you said the word STEEP!! It is a beautiful day and the views are stunning. A lovely loop and one I have been doing for many years, always enjoy it but when I have Mrs Metalman with me we will walk around the side of Roseberry Topping to miss out the steep up, something she prefers now. There is free parking down the road from where I parked but it would have put a mile on my journey but when Mrs Metalman is with me we normally park for free at Gribdale, as we do not do as much mileage. Oh, you made an amazing piece for all the nature lovers who are missing the hiking so badly. This whole area is majestic Alan, haha I totally understand you about dogs.
Don't mind dogs but when yo get to such a wonderful place and you want to sit and enjoy the countryside yet ll you can hear is a dog 'constantly' yapping none stop, it does spill things a bit. They did move after 15 minutes and my sanity was returned lol. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
That is an early start Alan but wow it was worth it to get to those popular places and have them all to yourself. Great question by Watto and yes growing up i always thought the Beatles were overrated compared to other bands at the same time. It’s definitely a walk we have done more than any other. Gribdale Gate looked busy. Nothing worse than a yappy dog when your trying to record audio! Did this walk a month ago and those ferms were so overgrown you could barely get through them. That is a steep descent, you can have our word for it! A great mornings walk indeed. Roseberry Topping in flippity flops? Oh no! Biden is probably having a nap around the back! Both enjoyed this on the big screen whilst we nurse our second time with the dreaded covid. Have a lovely trip to Majorca 👍👍
Sorry to hear about the Covid, hope you are both on the mend. That dog was doing my head it, it never stopped yapping and the people made no attempt to stop it either and they must have sat there for about 20 minutes before they moved and my sanity returned. True story about Mrs Metalman doing RT in flop flops, which must be 30 years ago now. I had to hold her all the way up and down. Just as we got to the bottom, she said, 'I will be okay now, you can let go of me', which I did and she then promptly fell flat on her back lol! Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan
