    Very nice video. It does kind of gloss over the difficulty of pushing the tubing through the gas tank wall since the tubing gets fatter as you push against the tight hole. The fuel lines pass through the gas tank wall with no gasket: the fuel line has to be slightly oversize to make a nice seal. Oversize tubing is hard to push through the hole since the tubing compresses and gets fatter, making the whole thing even harder. I found a solution. I cut the end at a bevel, then took a double strand of strong #92 polyester thread on a needle, poked the needle through the beveled end, then looped the knotted thread ends over the tubing.
    Drop the needle into the gas tank hole and reach in with hemostats (or fine needle-nose pliers) and pull the needle and thread and tubing into the gas tank. By pulling (and even stretching a bit by pulling back from the outside end, the tubing gets thinner and will slide through. When you get a bit pulled down into the tank you can reach in with hemostats (or fine needle nose pliers) and pull on the tubing itself. When you have enough pulled through to come out the gas tank opening, cut off square and install the fuel filter or other fitting, then adjust the length in the tank by pulling back out as needed.
    In the case of the fuel intake and filter, leave enough tubing in the tank so that the filter lies on the bottom of the tank even if the saw is rocked 90deg for horizontal cutting. In the case of the return line, pull the line so as to pull the nylon barb fitting to the "roof" of the tank.

    All looked good until you mentioned I would need a hemostat! Seems like a nice video although I haven't watched the entirety. Professionally done with a proper camera that's held stable with proper light and proper audio, thanks! I can actually watch without getting seasick.

    You didn't show which line goes to which nipple on primer, I have a pl 3314 poulan chain saw & the primer has 2 nipples to put line on

    my Craftsman (poulan) chainsaw has both lines same right side of carb. also used 2 different size lines: small for primer - large for fuel tank. AND had fuel filter.

    Other than forgetting to attach the fuel filter/tank line to the fitting before pulling the fitting back into place, this was a great video! If the process is completed according to this video you'll end up with no fuel filter and no line leading into your fuel

      he replaced the return line that requires that type of fitting nipple , not the actual supply line that has the gas filter.

      @@epmcdonald4562 well i suggest u look at the video TITLE again , no where does it say replacing the fuel supply line. the clear line is the return line from the purge bulb. the green fuel line is the one that has a fuel filter attached to the end. you might want to put on some reading glasses before you reply to a comment.

    Does it matter which port on the primer bulb connects to the fuel line return? I was told that the return line should connect to the longer stem.

    While you were screwing the cover back on near the end of your video, I noticed a H/L hole on the side of the cover. Can someone till me what this function is for? I just got this saw last week without a owners book. THANKS

      The L controls the (Low RPM) or your idle speed while not squeezing the throttle, the H controls how fast the engine spins when youve got the trigger fully depressed and are doing your cutting (High RPM)

    Was so hopeful until the last part about the fuel filter and coupler (that was all in pieces in the tank on mine) was omitted. Would have been nice to see how it went together. On to more videos and diagrams I guess.

      this model of poulan chainsaw i believe has a direct fuel line that runs into the gas tank with the filter at the end of the hose , there is not fittig in the supply line just on the return line which is what this video showed .

      The color of the line doesn't matter. The correct O.D, outside diameter is for the proper fit through the holes, and correct I.D , inside diameter for a tight fit to the connector ends, is what you should know for the right plastic lines.

      have craftsman chainsaw...uses 2 different size lines, smaller on primer, larger to the fuel tank

      I assume you are referring to mixing oil into the fuel for a 2-cycle engine. Yes, this saw, and most gas-powered chainsaws require oil mixed fuel. The mix ratio is typically 50:1 or 40:1. 50:1 is 2.6oz of oil to a gallon of fuel. 40:1 is 3.2oz of oil to a gallon of fuel. The mix ratio is often noted on the saw or even right on the gas cap. If not, you will need to refer to the owner's manual for your saw to find the correct ratio. Remember, you need to use oil that is made specifically for fuel mixing. Regular motor oil will not work and will damage the engine. -Mark

    You didn't show or explain that the other end of the fitting has another hose with the fuel filter attached. otherwise there will be no gas going to the carb. Plus as mentioned below, you didn't dwell on the fact that it is difficult pushing the fuel line through without the aid of some wire attached to the line to help. I won't explain how because your video is very incomplete and will cause problems for people watching it. I suggest for the viewers to go other sites to get proper ways to do it. Poor instructions and explanations and locations of primer bulb, etc...
