    I reversed the primary fuel line to larger diameter line like you did. Worked wonders and I eliminated the fuel line fitting poulan used. Nice improvements

      Yup, I've done the same but I'm going back to factory setup. The smaller line in the factory configuration makes it easier for the weighted fuel filter to flop around in the tank. The barb fitting is good at keeping the return line from pulling out of the tank - it's factory setup purpose. The filter is harder to put on but that also means it's harder for it to come off by itself. There are tricks to getting the filter on - heat and/or stretching. This way is ok but factory setup is better IMO.

    I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

    Great video!!!! I bought a really nice 2150 at a garage sale. All the lines were rotted. I bought new fuel line and got messed up where the lines went.. Found your vid,, within 1/2 hour had my saw singing! Really made this clear. My saw and I thank you bud! John. ")

    @Small Engine DIY I followed your hose mounting mod with one exception. I ran the larger hose from both carb nipples and used the smaller dia. hose only as the bulb "out" (return to tank). Feeding the tubing through the holes wasn't too hard of a job after cutting long angles in the tubing to get them started. And a little spit for lubrication. Then pulling them through into the tank with med. long needle nose. Tomorrow I'll pick up the oil mix and see how she runs. I'll let you know how it goes. I have an older Poulan Pro 210 that is identical to yours.

    I am working on this same saw right now and really get frustrated trying to get those fuel lines through the holes. LOL Can not even worry about putting the filter on until I get the lines through the holes. About ready to drill them bigger then sealing them after I get them through. Thankfully it is my old saws, and I have a couple Husqvarna saws and and bigger 72CC saw with 28" bar, ready to go to work this summer, but this one cut a lot of firewood for me over the years and would just like to get it running again, for smaller jobs, and to just see if I can do it..

    The problem I had in using the larger tubing for the tank filter, is that it is too stiff to allow the filter to flop around inside the tank so it draws fuel when the saw is either upright or on it's side. And, that's with a weighted filter. But, otherwise, I'm thankful for the routing clarification.

    This was very helpful I hate changing things, I suspect that there's a reason that they used different sized lines. Sharing mistakes that I made so that others don't make them. My local Small_Engine Repair shop is closed on Sundays so I bought a two-line generic replacement kit at the Hardware store, I think that it was $7.99, The thicker line has an interior Dimension of 3/32", the Outside Dimension is 3/16". The thinner line is ID 1/16" and OD 1/8", both are a foot long. The thicker one is right, the thinner one is way too small to get a filter on. I had to wait for the shop to open on Monday, bought a foot of Interior Dimension of .080, Outside Dimension of .140 yellow Tygon for under $2.00. It's a tight fit, I needed to hit it with a heat gun on low for a few seconds but was able to get the same style of filter as you're using on. It probably took less time than rerouting and, it is to factory specs. I hope this helps.

      Indeed, there is rhyme to their reason. The smaller hose is used because it's more flexible (especially once it's been hydrated with gasoline) so the weighted filter can flop around the tank with ease. The small line enters the tank on the left, despite attaching to the carburetor on the right, so that it takes minimal line in the tank to allow the filter to lay in the bottom right of the tank - good for fuel pickup when the saw is upright or laying on it's right side. This configuration also lends itself to accessing the filter without having too much line taking up space in the tank and/or limiting the fuel filter's movement. So yes, there is logic behind the madness. Even the very tight to fit fuel filter has logic to it once you've seen a chainsaw where the filter just fell off the line.

    • @johnl.mershon1407

      The reason they put the small line in the pick-up has to have the restriction to run correctly. ( Someone may not do it my way it works for me.)

    Question.. the hose that doesn't have a filter that goes into tank. How far down in the tank does it go. At first I thought it was just a vent tube not submerged in fuel. Long story short, with non filter tube about a half inch into tank it wouldn't run. Dropped it down further into the fuel and it runs. I would think both tubes should have filters if they are submerged in fuel.

    So your handy little puller is just a solid wire with a keyring on the end? You made it or purchased. I think a quick vid on just that would be cool. Great quick tip! Thanks, keep up the great work!

      That is basically what it is; a stiff wire with a keyring at one end and bent to a hook shape at the other. Easy to make or you can find one in some fuel line kits on Ebay. An assortment of three diameters and lengths of fuel line and the pull tool.

    Great video it helped I had a question on the back hole does the line go into the tank or does that little plastic union sit out of the fuel ? I changed both lines they were rotted ivsaw one video where they said to leave the line high pit of the fuel

    • @stevecobratei8538
      @stevecobratei8538 Před 4 lety +1

      If you look into the fuel tank you will see a line union(connector) on the hose that goes into the hole on the right side of the carb. This is the hose the filter goes on.They do this so if the replacement filter is a different size you can change the connector (union) and line to the proper size.
      It look like a few mistakes were made with the 2 lines in the tank. Because someone replaced the filter at some point they put on a smaller-diameter line and filter. The smaller diameter line in the tank is usually the return.
      The hose going into the tank on the right of the carb is where the filter goes. So you have : filter, line, union(connector), line thru case to primer. (Fuel source)
      Primer smaller line to bottom inlet of carb.
      Carb upper outlet to left side of tank.(return line)
      You can remove the union (connecter) on the filter line and run one soild piece of hose. Just make sure the hose you use fits tight in the tank hole and has the correct inside diameter to fit the filter and prime.
      The hole on the left side is for the return line from the top of the carburetor. Because the line was smaller on the filter side of the fuel line going into the tank, he got confused and thought it was the line on the left side of the tank.
      When he went to start it it would not run because he put the return line as the feed into the carburetor and you cannot get fuel from the return line because it's usually not in the gas. Or that is how if looks to me.
      Have fun, stay safe, stay healthy.
      : )

      Oh make sure the lines are clear of dust. Most of us biggest brand
      It's clean but it's it's on the Shelf at the warehouse and sits on the Shelf in the store until we buy it and we throw it on all dirty work bench. Just shoot some brake cleaner through the line for a second or two to make sure that there is nothing in the line. The smallest Speck of dirt can clogged these carburetors.

      @@stevecobratei8538 I suggest watching this youtube video of the fuel lines being done right czcams.com/video/vZQs-_mh-Sg/video.html The info you have given does not correlate with Poulan's factory configuration. Not to worry, you're not the first. The proper configuration isn't intuitive to anyone who doesn't know how the lines were configured out of the box/from the factory. Even I got it wrong on my first Poulan, but after some time doing research, I know better so I do it right going forward.

    I’ve never understood why the small line is the supply line. I did this on a Wild Thing about 8 years ago when I replaced the carb. My son got it from his workplace. It was old then and older, now. Still runs great, and cranks easily. Every time we get a hurricane or tropical storm here in S Fla, I have to break it out.
    I never could that line puller to work, I made one like DoubleWide 6 uses.

    • @killer2600
      @killer2600 Před rokem

      The small line is the supply line because it's more flexible than the larger line. The goal is to have the weighted fuel filter be able to always be at the bottom of the fuel in any orientation of the saw so the filter has to be able to move around as freely as possible. Double Wide 6's puller is a nice one but I don't replace fuel lines often enough to make a dedicated tool for the job.
